Old Town

Nessia and Riveria were walking beside the busy road. There were a lot of old and modern carriages speeding so they could reach their destination as fast as they could.

Nessia saw a store and asked, ''Is that the store you are buying bread from?''

Riveria shook her head, ''No, the store I'm looking for is much more further from here but they sell cheap items.''

Nessia didn't know that such a store exists.

''But there's still monsters roaming around near that store. I'm thankful for you to-'' Riveria added and paused when she heard a werewolf howling.

Uh oh.

There were loud sounds of buildings being torn down. ''Run!'' Riveria grabbed Nessia's hand and ran while dragging her.

''We're almost there,'' Riveria shouted over the loud noise. An old-looking store was ahead both of them.

''Keep watch outside. I'll quickly buy the bread,'' Riveria instructed and entered the store.

Nessia saw a werewolf similar to the werewolf she fought stomping on buildings. However, the werewolf was as big as a fairytale giant!

Nessia took a peek inside the store. Riveria was comparing the condition of the bread while panicking as she looked at each bread on the shelf, thinking which is the best.

Nessia called, ''Riveria, hurry up! That werewolf is coming closer to the store!'' ''I am! But I need to make sure the bread is safe to be eaten!'' Riveria replied back.

The werewolf heard them and sniffed. It was like saying, ''Where is my food?''

Nessia hid behind a tree that is almost bare since most of the leaves dropped onto the ground, slowly turning brown.

However, the tree was thin and only hid her arm.

The werewolf looked down, and saw Nessia. It looked relieved, as it finally found its 'food'. The giant werewolf howled excitedly and pounced on the buildings to get nearer to Nessia.

The werewolf was so big that Nessia's magic might not hurt it, and Nessia was already tired from the last fight with a normal-sized werewolf.

It seemed that there was no other choice but to quickly warn Riveria and run!

Nessia peeked inside the store again and saw Riveria waiting for the cashier, who was an old man, counting the money and later give her the change. He didn't rush through.

''Hurry up! It's coming!'' Nessia called out. Riveria responded by running out of the store with her bread and shouted, ''Keep the change!''

The old man sowly looked up and didn't say a word. Instead, he kept the money into the cash register.

''I know a cave with a scent that repels werewolves! Follow me!'' Riveria shouted at the top of her lungs over the sounds of buildings collapsing after the werewolf pounced on it.

They ran across the town to a forest, followed by the werewolf which had no more houses and buildings to pounce on.

The werewolf quickly chased after Nessia and Riveria with its limbs.

Nessia took out a pouch that was given by the academy to store magic dust and spilled some on Riveria's foot. The magic dust disapoeared into thin air when it touched her foot, and Riveria suddenly became faster than Nessia.

Nessia did the same to herself and ran across the forest into a large cave with Riveria.

The cave's scent was unbearable.

''This is the cave that can repel the werewolf by its smell?'' Nessia said. Riveria nodded, ''Yes, and I went here before when I was chased by a werewolf. When I hid inside the cave, the werewolf fled.''

The ground shook as the giant werewolf got closer. Because of its size, it might not be able to smell the scent from the cave as it wasn't that strong, unless the werewolf had a great sense of smell.

As the werewolf came near with a satisfied growl, it seemed to be slower. The sun shone brighter than before and blinded the werewolf. Nessia and Riveria still hid in the cave, aware of the sun.

The werewolf roared and retreated. The sun slowly lost its brightness and shone casually.

Nessia and Riveria exit the cave and thought, ''Was it the sun or the smell?''

Still confused, Riveria lead the way out of the forest into the old town then to where they lived.

They said goodbye to each other and went home.

''It was such an adventure'' Nessia thought, as she closed the house door behind her.

Her mother was on the couch, watching drama as usual at night. When she heard the house door opening, she quickly said, ''Welcome back, Nessia!'' Nessia smiled and went to her room.

She did the usual night routine before bed and slept.

I apologize for any spelling errors, word choice errors or any combined words.

First of all, I use a story managing app to type the chapter, then copy and paste it here.

The phone can only copy and paste limited amount of words, and it gets messy, and as a result some words get combined. Yes, I do re-read my chapters. I also apologize if the plot is too weird, and maybe if you read the vol. title you would know. Lastly, I might be rewriting the whole story when I'm free, this is only a practice.
