57: Criminals' Escape

•~•~•~•~•~•~•

The sky turned orange as the sun set.

By the docks arrived a speedboat. Just a few kilometers behind it were boats, headed for the same dock.

A raven-haired teen got out of the speedboat, a big orange cat sat on his shoulder. It was Shinji and Kayden, disguised as a cat.

"Hey, can you get off of my shoulder? You're very f*cking heavy, y'know?" the teen said.

The cat put a paw on his head, sending tiny shocks making it puff up a bit, "Say that again you brat."

"Alright, alright. Jeez, no need to be so... catty." Shinji laughed at his pun while the cat remained unamused. "Get... get it?" he added between laughs.

...

As the two waited for the other boats to arrive, the teen's phone suddenly rang. The caller ID read, "Union Agent".

"Yo," he answered.

["Sir Shinji? Sorry for the disturbance, but we have a situation..."]

"What is it?"

["Doctor Delein... He escaped."]

"I'm coming," Shinji answered, his face filling with curiosity.

"What happened?" asked the cat.

"Someone escaped, so I need to go," he replied nonchalantly, leaving a thoughtful Kayden.

After a few minutes, the boats finally arrived. The cat watched as Seongha and Inhyuk got off, both looking extremely serious.

'What could have happened?... But eh, who cares? Not my problem anyways.' Kayden dismissed as he walked toward his apprentice.

Arriving at the Union Building, Shinji saw the agents scurrying around. A few of them were dispatched to search for the missing Mad Doctor.

The raven-haired teen wasn't that worried, since if he remembers correctly, nothing really happened. Aside from Jiwoo's demonstration of Kayden's abilities, no one got hurt.

Wait...

No, scratch that. The damn intruder killed a few Union Agents, right?... Plus, his sister was quite injured in their rematch with one of the Klein Brothers...

His face filled with seriousness as he fixed his hair.

It looks like he needs to take this case seriously. He'll definitely find them in no time.

A tired sigh escaped Shinji's mouth.

He shouldn't have said that... He f*cking jinxed it.

It's already been a few days, yet still no news about the Klein Idiots and the intruder that broke Delein out of prison.

What's worse is that he hasn't heard from Subin all day. It was obvious what she was doing.

She's most probably helping her new friends look for the damn Doctor... But, why turn off your phone?!

"Sigh..."

"Sir Shinji!" an Agent alerted the teen.

"Huh?"

"We found the Klein Brothers! Inhyuk Goo from Shinhwa took off to take care of Duran."

"That's great! What about the other one?" Shinji inquired, making the Agent nervous. "According to one of the Agents from the scene, two teenagers arrived to distract the man."

The raven-haired teen clicked his tongue, saying, "Where is his location?"

...

Meanwhile, in a ruined city block...

A cloaked man ran rampant, sending out explosions after explosions while three figures seemed to keep him busy.

"Hey Jiwoo, this bastard was not supposed to be this strong, right?!" a white-haired teen shouted, dodging flying flames that the red-haired adult was sending out.

"He's... very tricky! I can't get close to him! It's very hot whenever I get close to him!" the light-cream-haired teen exclaimed, backing away from the Criminal.

"Tch, you're right! My ice is useless against that f*cker. It melts almost instantly!" said a short-haired girl with similar features to Shinji.

Jiwoo looked around them. He saw several burned Union Agents, most of them trapped under the rubble.

"Guys... Can you distract him for a bit?" he said to his companions hesitantly.

"What? Do you have a plan or something?"

He shook his head, pointing at the downed people, "No... But, the Agents..."

Jisuk sighed tiredly before grinning, "I swear, that kind nature of yours... Do it quickly!" he exclaimed, making the wind around him go wild. Subin smirked as well, huge icicles summoning behind her.

Jiwoo thanked them, disappearing in a blur. Declan Klein's glowing red eyes glimmered brighter as the fire that danced around him turned from red to a fulgent yellow.

The three teens could feel the temperature around them become hotter. Jisuk sent a raging gust toward the man while Subin followed with her icicles.

The red-haired man was blown back by the wind, but Subin's attack didn't seem to have an effect since it was barely solid when it reached him.

Subin, now angry that her attacks were proven ineffective, conjured a gigantic chunk of ice the shape of a diamond.

"Hey, help me destroy that bastard." the girl said to her sweating companion, aiming the ice toward the Criminal.

"Tch, alright. I'm getting annoyed by that son of a b*tch too." Jisuk replied, wind rapidly swirling behind Subin's attack.

The short-haired girl released her attack with the violent swirling gale behind increasing its speed.

Declan Klein shot out both of his burning hands, trying to parry the attack. A 'hss' sound was heard as it melted. And just then, the three teenagers appeared around him.

One held a melting icicle, the other had his hands up, ready to send a barrage of punches, and the last one had swirling wind blades on his palm.

They grimaced, feeling the temperature that the man's fire exuded. In that split second of hesitation, the red-haired Criminal surrounded himself with fire. Jiwoo and Jisuk managed to back out in time due to their increased speed, but the same could not be said for Subin.

While she was able to take a step back, she was simply too slow to dodge the eruption of fire. She screamed as the flames licked her left arm, her uniform sleeves burning into her skin.

"Subin, no!" Jiwoo yelled in distress, rushing to catch his friend.
