14 Chapter 14: Getting the Phoenix Clan to Begin Cultivating

POV: Phoenix

The Phoenix looked as Song Yun walked out of the temple before shaking its head a little. She had a lot to think about, especially now that she had made contact with the young boy.

He had given her things to think about.

To think she had been so arrogant to believe that no life could live outside the Primal Chaos. No, she could tell now, whatever had blessed that young boy with strength did not exist inside this universe. Just sensing that power was more than enough to tell her years ago but it made much more of an impact now that Song Yun was standing in front of her.

She also realized how insignificant she was in the grand scale of things if there was more life out there that she didn't know about. It was both terrifying and existing comprehension.

But, it made her think of things. Thinking about living instead of just existing in this world, to maybe even see the outside life. To do that though, she would have to think about making herself a body to cultivate again in.

It wouldn't be easy by any means, especially with the materials required and a good alchemist needed. Nonetheless, she could probably use the clan living in this forest to do her bidding, she just needed to wait until they could actually begin cultivating.

While asking help from Song Yun might work, she didn't want to do that unless absolutely necessary, not wanting to be indebted to him.

Though that also brought her to another thing, she needed to think about what she wanted to do with that successor the other Phoenix remnant left. If she were to test that girl and have her pass, she would have a girl with a Phoenix body to either make a new Phoenix or maybe she could use that girl to gain more favor with Song Yun?

Making her marry him, even if she was just to be a concubine it would hopefully still be good enough.

She wasn't stupid by any means. Arrogant? Probably. Stupid? No. She knew that with the power Song Yun had, he would become a powerhouse in the near future, possibly even rule the whole universe now that the gods had died.

She wanted part of that and she had to act now because waiting would try to get into his grace, worse is that she knew that Gods that have left behind remnants would also want part of Song Yun. Especially the few ones left behind on this planet.

Hopefully, no one was stupid enough to offend him enough to make him lose control of himself like he did a few years ago. Ah, who was she lying to? People would always be stupid and not know who they were offending.

She needed to have a talk with the clan sitting here and make sure they weren't stupid around Song Yun and give him the proper respect.

Though talking about people, the Phoenix wasn't sure if she was just imagining things but she could almost feel a soul inside the boy. She hadn't dared to look deeper but if it was a soul, that could change plans drastically.

It would mean that someone, whoever it was, was giving Song Yun advice on how he could handle things and depending on who they were, it could very well mean that they knew her. It was a scary thought but she would make sure in the next couple of months.

She just hoped that she was wrong on this one.

POV: Song Yun

Please forgive me, I shouldn't have been that cringe. It sounded way better in my mind. Damn you Cid, how can you let me down at a time like that? Now I can't even look the Phoenix in the eyes anymore.

[Damn, my soul took damage from all that cringe I just saw]

Please don't start roasting me now. I just want to crawl underground and forget this ever happened. To think that I didn't manage to make something cringe sound cool, I have truly failed.

Forgive me, Cid.

I continue back to the Phoenix village soon enough while ignoring all of Ling's roasting about me. Seeing the people there up and about at such an early hour is quite weird, they usually start their days a bit on the later side.

The people saw me come up to them and quickly lined up. Ah shit, I know where this is going. They bowed and I just sighed, yeah this is what I thought.

"Young Master Yun, you have freed us of our cursed fates and we cannot thank you enough for that. Please tell us how we can repay you?" Baichuan took the lead in talking for the clan but I really didn't like this. I really didn't do anything other than talk to the Phoenix and while I did have an alternative motive, they were never the 'priority'.

"Please, stand up." I tell them but they still are glued to the ground. "Look, if you want to repay me, you can do that later, what you guys need right now is to cultivate and become stronger."

I wasn't about to say that they can't really give me much of what I want right now, better let them work hard for the future and let future me figure out how to handle them.

Besides that, I'm not about to invite them into my future sect, not with how they feel, currently. Maybe in the future when they don't feel as pressured to join out of gratitude. I do want them to join, but out of free will.

That seemed to get to them and they all soon stood up, "Great! Now, you guys should see if you have any cultivation techniques to use otherwise I'll have to ask the Phoenix if it has any."

The whole clan paused at that which I can't really fault, they never thought they'd be able to cultivate again but hopefully if they don't have any arts then the Phoenix does.

"Ah!" Someone I wasn't familiar with screamed, "I do think we have some Cultivation techniques in the archives but whether they're fully documented, I can't say for sure about that."

"Well, it's a good start," I say to the guy, "Now we just have to check through them before seeing if we need the Phoenix's help with things." The guy nodded at that and I gave him a thumbs up and he just ran to the archives, probably.

Looking over the clan standing in front of me, I sigh a little, "Why don't you guys go help him? It'll make things go faster and you can begin cultivating sooner." That seems to jolt them all and they quickly follow the first dude.

Now, what should I do?

POV: Lai Ling

Laying down on a bed, Ling was reading through a book while thinking about things. It's been a few days since the Phoenix village was freed from the curse and more new information has been learned from the Phoenix about The Gods Realm.

The most surprising thing for Ling was how forthcoming the Phoenix was about the information. She was sure that there was some type of plot there otherwise that bird brain would have certainly made a better move to deal with the clan it had blessed.

Cursing the whole clan instead of just dealing with the person who broke the rules wasn't justice of any kind, it was just showing that you had power over the people. Which might be what it was trying to do, she didn't have any proof of that but it did feel like what an old arrogant being would do.

Though thinking about the new information they have learned, it would seem like there is an easy way for them to get to the Gods Realm, they just needed time to find a way to make the teleportation formation that Yun made connect to one of the planets.

She remembered he called it a wormhole, a hole connecting two spaces.

That and wanting to get the Phoenix village up to snuff would take at least a few months, not to mention that Yun needed to at least get his cultivation level to Emperor Profound in case anything happens on those planets.

She wanted him to get even a higher cultivation, maybe even train his body even more, but sadly Yun was a little obsessed with finding Dongxue. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left his city at such a young age, with hurried preparations no less, no matter how much it hurt him to stay where his father died.

Shaking her head a little, she focused back on the book she was reading. She was reading through all the techniques she knew to both hopefully improve the cultivation art Yun was using and to see if there was a good technique to try and translate. Sadly, most of what she was reading probably wouldn't work.

She had thousands upon thousands of techniques, a result of her seeking out power, but most of them relied on things that didn't exist in this universe, like laws that existed in her own universe but not here.

But there were a few things that she could see working, a few that would definitely make Yun happy, like a soul technique that would knock out the users or just erase them completely should the force be strong enough. It was like that ability that he liked, Conqueror's Haki she thought it was called.

She had forgotten about this technique, never really having used it before. Ling was able to 'remember' everything she had ever read, but the thing is, she hasn't read everything. Having a scanning ability when you didn't have the time to read everything was always great.

She had some other soul techniques that could also damage or protect souls in certain ways that she would have to teach him about too. He'd probably need it one day.

Other than that, she was hoping to get Yun into staying in Phoenix village for at least a year, to get him into proper shape for the Gods Realm. She wasn't sure what was up there but people there being stronger is a no-go of an answer, also the fact that those from higher Realms tend to be more arrogant.

Ling just hoped that Yun wouldn't be stupid enough to make enemies of the strongest people there while he doesn't have the strength to back it up. Though maybe making a formation to trap cultivators with their own energy would be a good thing to make? Or somehow to cripple them?

She'd have to talk to Yun and see what he would say, those Runes were his own making after all.

POV: Song Yun

Stepping to my left, I gently push a kid to the right. Another one came at me and I just flexed my arm towards him, making him flinch. I didn't hit him, just a light flick on the forehead.

"One thing about battle that you have to try and overcome is flinching and pausing when you're about to get it or do get it. Your opponent won't just stop to give you time to recover." I say to the 10 kids in front me. Well, I say kids but they're about my age.

I see them all nod at me, but that isn't what I'm here for, I'm here to teach these kids some combat while everyone else in the village stabilizes their new power. "Now come on, try and hit me."

I was going easy on them, of course, but this was also a kind of training for me too. Control training to be exact. Getting strong is good and all but if you can't control it then you're just a berserker, something that I didn't want to be. So, here I am, controlling my strength against these kids while they get some 'battle' experience.

Though, this wasn't all I was doing. A part of me was also trying to stay in my mind palace and work on different formation ideas that I had. It's not working great since I keep losing the connection but I'm trying my best here.

Getting the connection to stay is currently the hard part, but the harder part would be to think about two different things at the same time. Parallel Thought is what it is.

Stepping to my right, one of the kids runs past me with his fist raised. Like something that straightforward would get me but it was a good attack, had some power behind it.

Another kid came toward me, so once again, I raised my fist like I'm about to punch and the kid stopped in his tracks. I lower my hand and just smirk at him, making sure he sees he fell for it.

Looking at his reddened expression, I couldn't help but laugh a little. "Told you, didn't I? Being afraid of something hitting you would only get you more hurt instead." I walk forward, leaving the kid standing behind me, "Alright, I think that's enough training for you guys today. You can continue training with each other, if that is what you want to, I have some other plans for now."

Seeing them all nod, I nod back before just jumping away really fast. It's fun to show off in front, even if I don't get to always see their expressions.

But I did really have some other plans, sudden ones if I might add. See, I have laid out traps in the forest, all over the place to capture two creatures I want to use. Spiders and Silk Worms.

For what reason? Their silk, of course. Silk was a highly valued thing around here, only the upper classes usually wore clothes made from silk. Uncle Hongyi sometimes wore clothes from silk on rare occasions. It was that rare.

Since this forest practically only had Profound Beasts, the spiders would definitely be deadly, but their silk would only be that much better. I'm going to catch them and get them to become my pets.

How would one do that? It's stupid.

It was like a game developer making something really lazy and saying, 'yep, that looks good'.

The first part of making beasts your summons is, while cliché, good. They need to acknowledge you. What does that mean? It's different from beast to beast, some look at strength, some at kindness and so on.

So yeah, cliché but still great.

The second part however, that's where things get lazy. To make the connection between the beast and the master, you just need to put blood between the beast's eyes.

That's it.

How did that connection make itself? Yeah, it was a mystery indeed. This is why I sometimes don't like this place I live in. You have the mystery of profound energy and how it worked together, how you could construct things with it, but then you have something as lazy as that.

It's a bit disheartening.

Anyway, I'm here now, the place where a spider has been caught. Letting my senses wash over the area, I made sure that no other beast was in the area. I'm not about to get caught in a fight while trying to take on a spider monster.

Sure, this spider was only Nascent Profound Realm but let your guard down and it doesn't matter what level of cultivation the person is at, especially with poison.

Kneeling towards the ground, to turn off the runes on the ground that kept the spider in the barrier dome when I felt it. At first, it was only a little chill through my spine but soon enough I could feel its presence.

A Profound Beast, a strong one at that. Probably peak Sky Profound, that's 15 levels higher than me. Wonder what that type of beast is doing so close to the Phoenix village, its presence should have kept the beast away.

That didn't matter much, right now. What did matter is getting that thing away from the village cause if that beast went wild, nobody will live to tell the tale.

Standing up back to my feet, I ready myself for what's to come. With every passing moment, I could sense it more clearly. Not wanting to get caught off guard, I activated all the current formations on me.

I don't think I can win, not with my current cultivation level, the 5th of Earth Profound, but that doesn't mean I can't distract the beast and take it away from here. I could easily then escape with my nimbus if it comes down to it.

Waiting for a few more seconds, the beast showed itself. It actually caught me off guard by how it looked. A lion, a female one, seeing as it didn't have a mane. Though the thing that caught me off guard was its color.

It was black, as black as the darkest night with no hint of light bouncing off its body. To think that black lions existed here, quite the surprise.

It looked at me, its eyes purple and glowing. With a growl, it jumped towards me.

Chapter 14 End

Ey, new chapter after like 3 months.

Why is that?

Because I had no motivation for this and my intrusive thought got the better of me, they won. So I somehow started a Marvel fic and a Naruto one. Both can be found on the discord links which can be found in the Synopsis of this fic.

The only reason I haven't uploaded the Naruto fic is because I haven't found a good name for it. Kek

Anyway, enjoy
