Ep. 2 - The Hall of Kings

- - - WARNING: SLIGHT BLOOD & GORE - - -

As a child. It has only ever been my father and I. Which is weird since I know for a fact that it takes 2 people to make a child— a.k.a. me — and queens may not take much of a role in our royalty system, but they take one nevertheless. I have about zero memories of my mother and my father never talked about her, and I never asked—which now I heavily regret. He also never talked about our ancestors or his family. Yes, he has told me some history of the kings of Aerofetha and a lot more about Thaennor. But that's about it. Its strange, I feel like he was hiding something from me, but I guess I'll never know.

I arrived the Hall of Kings— I arrived by my a giant falcon pet named Konsma, thank you for asking. This is the first time ever seeing the Hall of Kings in person— hint in the name, it's only by Kings— but honestly, the myths of this magical hall is all true. The island that the Hall of Kings may not be big compared to the other islands but, the build is mega impressive. Of course, all impressive things come out of the golden hero, Lexis (he built it).

I arrived on Konsma as the sun rises. The rays of sunlight surround the calcite building making it look even more impressive than the gigantic trees of the land of earth — a.k.a. where I live. I bid Konsma and I entered the majestic build. A long hall — hence the name — awaited for me with many paintings of the great kings. I strutted down the long hall, my new robes (which I got just yesterday) cleaned the floor behind me. But suddenly, something made me freeze. Oh, yeah, who wouldn't freeze at a painting oh your long dead father. His eyes met my gaze, the look he gives me when he is about to tell me something serious which I would usually get confused with his stay-in-your-room-now-and-don't-come-out gaze. I tried to soak in all the aspects of the painting. Trying to remember how he was like 14 years ago. A big hand touched my shoulder and I immediately jumped around ready to attack the person behind me.

"Woah, Woah, calm down little one!" His hands brought out in front of him showing me that he is unarmed, "I mean no harm." I calmed down a bit and noticed the man in front of me. His robes matched the sea with designs of waves and other creatures I have never seen before. His chocolate brown hair curled around his head as well as a short beard and mustache. His eyes shine bright blue under the sunlit ceiling. But that gaze he gave, it me reminded me of someone.

"Oh, you must be the new king of Aerofetha, Elaris" He says calmly, "My name is Feran, king of Caprina of the land of water."

"Elaris," I take my hand out, and he shook it respectively.

"I know" he sighs, "that I may be in charge of the smallest kingdom of all the islands, but I tell you, if you ever need anything, you are always welcome in the Caprina, kingdom of fish." He pats my shoulder, "Anyway, we should get going, I think the meeting is about to start!"

"Attention everyone!" A tall man with a scarred face and purple robes rose from his seat, all the other kings fell silent.

"That is king Scar of Steovaria." Feran who took a seat next to me, quickly whispered into my ears.

"Thank you all for joining me today," Scar proudly said while walking around the large meeting room, "Today, is a special day, and can anyone guess why?" Silence was met. "Well today, I mean yesterday, was the day that Aerofetha got their new official king, Elaris! So please clap for him who is actually in this room right now." The room was filled with loud unsynchronized clapping who Scar also joined in later.

"Scar!" The room well silent, "Why in the world have you possible invited us for a meeting? I don't think this is all just for you to introduce Elaris here." A man with a fiery red hair and beard wearing full on iron battle gear shouted from the end of the table. Murmurs filled the room. It is quite strange that he invited us all here for no reason. What was weirder was that there were fewer people than I expected. Maybe 10 or 13 people occupied the long meeting table which was made for over 20 individuals.

"Well, Imlas, " the room fell silent once again, "since we are all allies," Allies?, I thought, "I thought it would be nice to get together and discuss what is happening in our kingdoms."

Well I was very glad that went fast, nor did I have to speak at all during the meeting since I had no clue what is going on. Allies? What was King Scar talking about, I will have to talk to Uncle Arcadius about this matter later.

"Well, it was a pleasure speaking with you, Elaris," Feran said with a bow, "I have urgent business to do back in my kingdom, see you next time!" And with that, Feran left the meeting room.

"Laen, Cagon, and Elaris please stay for a bit longer after the meeting," Scar said as all the other kings exit the King of Halls. Laen, Cagon, were two elegant looking kings of which of the many kingdoms I have no clue of. "Well, project RIG is doing greatly now," Scar began, I was left with more confusion as the two other kings nod in unison. Scar began to play with the ring on his finger. "But," He started, "It is going so very well," he hesitated again, "that there is no use for you guys anymore." And before anyone can say a word, the doors to the meeting room slammed shut and a sword appeared in Scar's hands.

He leaped upon the table and the sword slashed across the necks of the two other kings. Blood exploded at where the necks have been slashed wide open and the heads roll down to the floor, their headless bodies slumped onto the table, staining crimson blood all over it. I sat there wide eyes at the sight I'm seeing, paralyzed to head to toe at what I just saw. I looked away from the two dead bodies and look right in front of me. Scar stood on the table with a giant grin on his face, eyes shining with madness, and his sword pointed right at my neck with blood dripping from the edge. I swallowed deeply, and the sword cut a bit of my skin. Well, I'm going to die now.

"Now, my dear friend Elaris," He said casually,"If you tell me where your father's vault is then I might as well spare you."

I thought for a bit, looked back at the dead bodies beside me, for some reason, my dad's dead body was all I could think of. I looked back at Scar and spat in his face, "Never."

"Well then," he hesitated, "It was nice meeting you, buh bye!" There was a sharp jab, then blood squirting everywhere, and then suddenly, darkness.
