38 Chapter 38

KASH

My eyes stayed closed as I listened to a quiet beeping sound. I felt as though I couldn't move just yet. Stuck in slow waking process. My fingers were the first I could move. It took time and painful attempts before I could move and feel my body. Once I felt in control, I opened my eyes.

The brightness of the room had me blink several times. The beeping getting louder and a little faster had me look in the direction of the sound. It was a box with lines, the beep happening every spike. Where was I? What happened? Digging into my mind I tried to remember anything. Panic flooded my system. Flinging myself from the bed pulling wires and tubes from my skin, I let the most instinctual thing deep inside my bones take over.

The beep was now a loud incessant high-pitched whine, so I attacked the box shutting it up. The attacked anything else that tried to make noise or smelled funny. Which turned out to be many things. Loud running footsteps had me back up into the wall preparing for an attack. The only thing I knew right now was this side of me, I could trust. A growl escaped with the first person entering the room.

A soft yet urgent voice spoke up as a man stepped in to the room. "He destroyed everything in here. Get security. Quickly now." The man that stepped in did not allow the people behind him to enter; carefully closing the door behind him. Slowly he stepped forward a few steps before crouching closer to my level. "Easy. We're not here to harm you." He moved to get closer. My answer to him trying this was a sharp warning growl. "Okay, okay. I take the hint. How about you shift back for me? We need to check your injuries, and would like to speak with you."

All my hackles raised at him with another growl, and a snapping of my teeth for good measure. Deep inside I feared his scent. My inner wolf stating he was not my alpha, and I should not let him near. Those instincts guided me now.

A knock at the door had me growl again. "Easy. They are here to help." Slowly he stood up and walked to the door. "He won't shift back. Considering his reaction to me, we might need to find a beta or even better, another omega to settle him." He sighed looking back at me. "Whatever he has been through, and going through now he needs security and peace of mind. Not doctors and nurses checking him over."

"The omega doctor is in today. We'll get her." The commanding voice on the other side told me they were dangerous, and I huffed.

The man in my space chuckled. "Please do, and don't speak to much outside this floor please. We still have no idea who he is, or what pack he belongs too."

"Roger that." The footsteps left at a fast pace, leaving the man in my room watching my every move.

"We have many questions for you. Unfortunately, we won't get anywhere with you in this form." The man then moved to one of the few pieces in the room still alive, and sat in the chair. "You have been sleeping for about two weeks now."

Well, thank you, weird man for giving me some sort of timeline. But I still needed to know more. Like where I was or maybe, who I was." Seeing the man was not moving much I sat on my haunches to watch him, and listen.

"You were brought in by our elite forces, already unconscious by drugs. The team was not willing to tell us much how they found you, just that you needed to recover. Since that is why you're here, we will do our best." The man watched me as much as I watched him. "We know you have a mate somewhere. Though unmarked, you struggled with any touch from our alpha staff, that tells us you have bonded. I feel you have a story to tell us little omega." I growled at his comment of being little. "Hey! No disrespect to you. We are just concerned. It is not safe out there for one such as yourself."

A soft knock at the door once more had me stand up hackles raised. "Sir? I was told you needed to see me?"

The man stood up and walked to the door, ignoring my growls. "Come in but no sudden movements. He is very cautious of strangers."

The small female that walked in almost whimpered when she saw me. "The poor thing! The whole room smells of his distress."

The man brought the female over. "This is Doctor Lee. She is an omega like you." Sniffing the air, I confirmed his words. "She just needs to talk to you, okay? You don't have to shift, but it would make things easier."

"That's okay sir. He is too stressed for that right now." The female sat on the ground and looked right into my eyes. "Pleased to meet you." Something inside did not like the direct contact and I growled, emitting dominance. She looked away with a chuckle. "Sorry. I am not used to an omega with power like you. That must mean you have loved ones looking for you. That makes me so glad. We catch so many lost omegas that have nothing." She turned to the man who stood near the door. "Could you please get us water and some food? I think I can at least get him to eat and drink a little today."

"Hmm." The man hummed. "We will have to move his room to the solitary. As much as I would love to keep him in this room, we need to make sure he is safe."

"I shall explain things to him." Doctor Lee turned to me as the man walked out to gather food and drink. "I'm sure you heard him. It is a special room for wolves in your situation. It keeps you safe under video surveillance. It really is not far from this room." She sighed. "Are you willing to shift even just to answer a couple questions?"

My answering growl had her whimper. The whole experience had me tired and frustrated. I looked back at the shivering doctor before curling up to nap. I never really slept, just closed my eyes but listened to all around me. Easily I sensed when the man came back and the smell of food filled the room. Opening my eyes, I saw both looking at me with expectation.

"It's been two weeks and he still won't shift." Doctor Lee was back in the so-called solitary room with the one she called Sir all the time. "This is not normal behaviour at all."

The solitary room was a cell. The cameras were in the corner of the room, one across from the other to get a complete view I guessed. I tried attacking them, but they were safely behind a think glass. They had tossed blankets in the room for me to use as bedding, and food was slid under the door through a slot. They tried to deliver like normal patients, until they realized I would attack if those bringing food came close to me.

"I think we need a new game plan." The man shook his head while looking at me. "Whatever state he is in, will not be good for his up coming heat."

My whole being knew it was coming, but my heat was for one alpha. I just wish I knew who. A small whimper escaped.

"The elite force should have given more information. I am sure his mate looks for him." Doctor Lee smiled at me, as if to reassure. "Let me talk to my family. Brother might give me something."

"Yeah. Your bloodline might be the only chance to get any information. Tell me why did you decided to become a doctor Princess?" The man laughed as she smacked his arm. "I know, I get it."

"Let's leave him for today. He will need lots of rest." She pulled a small item from her pocket and placed it on the ground. "This little item has a secret inside. You'll need to shift to open it. You see, it's a puzzle box. Trying to chew it open won't work."

My eyes left the box she placed on the ground as the pair left the room for the day. They came like clockwork everyday. Sometimes trying to talk to me, sometimes just between themselves. They were strange wasting time on me. I had spent much of my time trying to remember things. Sometimes a dream with a voice would have me wake, whimpering for someone I miss. However, I don't know who they are, or where they could be. All I know, it has now been about four weeks since I was brought here, and I still had no idea who I was.

The first couple of days I left the box where she placed it. Call me naïve, but soon curiosity took over. One night when the halls were quiet, I walked over to the box. She did not lie when she said I could not chew it open. Snuffing it around with my nose I finally shifted to look at it. I had, in all the time in the room, forgotten about the cameras. When I could hear staff moving around once more the investigation of the strange box was dropped and I shifted back once more.

This went on for a few nights until I finally unlocked it. Inside the box was a small candy. I huffed at the stupid reward but ate it anyways. Slightly disappointed that it did not tell me more information of where or who I am. The candy was a little bitter in my mouth. What made things worse. My heat was close. My heart hurt for the alpha I did not remember. Maybe he was dead, and my memory loss was to protect me from pain. Shaking my head from those dark thoughts, I sat up against the wall to think. Falling asleep well before I could shift back to my wolf.

Hushed voices soon woke me. "He needs to speak with us." I was able to recognise the male that is always with the female. "It has been long enough."

"You have no idea what he has been through! How can you say that?!" The female was whisper yelling back at the male. "Let me try and talk to him first."

Opening my eyes, I watched the pair of them continue arguing before they noticed I was awake.

"Ah! I apologize if we woke you. We really should have discussed things outside the room." The female smiled brightly. "We were hoping you are ready to help us out?"

Keeping quiet I stood up. Looking around the room I wanted clothing and I saw none. Turning around I glared at the two of them. "GET OUT!"

"We have clothing on the way!" The female turned to leave but the male grabbed her arm. "Hmm?

"He is a wolf. We can wait here, it's not like he has not seen nudity before." The male smirked as he watched my reaction.

"GET OUT!" I saw the female shaking with my anger. "Do not assume you know me."

"We can only assume, because you have refused to speak." The male let the female leave the room. "If you could give us some information, we can then inform your kin of your location."

My eyes watered at his words. Do I have people looking for me? Am I even someone loved? "If that's what you want then leave. I have nothing to share." I turned my back and sat down in the small nest I built with the bedding, debating on shifting again.

"What of your alpha?" The male spoke softly. "You must want him with your heat nearing?"

Having enough I shifted. I told him what I knew, it was nothing. They have just as much knowledge of who I was, as I did. Something deep inside since I woke in this form, told me there was someone, but something also told me they were not close. Who that person was, or what they are to me was many more questions added to the list. Tired of listening to the male, I curled up and slept once more.
