Chapter 1: The Hero's Journey

A world beyond what anyone can understand. A world where science and magic blur between the lines of one's reality. A world one would call "home" for some. 'Twas a world beyond fantasy, beyond fiction even. To think such a world which harbors the essence of magic itself, harnessed by one's body. This was such a world, and such a world was clear during its golden age. Lands being soaked in magic, with warriors of varying sizes, shapes, colors, and even properties all mastering a singular style of magic. A style of magic that fits them most. A style that makes them work in fluid motion with their craft. The stars themselves glisten in bright light, before a strong flash erupted that coats the horizon.

And then.....He woke up.

Resting himself among the trees was a child. Harvard Helsing is his name. He donned himself a standard black tuxedo suit with a blue bowtie, as well as having puffy brown hair to match his medium skin. It was his first time being outside of his home for so long, having it to be his start of a journey, one which he wishes to match with his fellow heroes in the books he read. Harvard's resting place was the likes of several trees, all of which were growing in groves. These trees are what made up most of the surrounding area, where huts and shops were built on, as well as a castle being in the center of this supposed forest. The wood was sturdy, yet was often singed in burns beyond repair, forcing the locals to remove and regrow sprouts in the chance it would live on.

Oaking was the kingdom's name, and Harvard would be a bit of a nuisance with the locals here.

He'd explore the area by hopping from branch to branch, greeting everyone in simple waves and gestures. Some liked him. Others didn't. He was a bit of an infamous figure due to his brand of "fighting villains" being of destroying the environment for flavor and excitement, oftentimes putting other people's lives at risk. Usually, Harvard would fix that problem he caused for himself, though lately there hasn't been anything too noteworthy to defeat as of now. Nothing that truly stuck with him in his soon-to-be grand adventure he wishes to accomplish. He wants to do something. ANYTHING, than merely beating up a few criminals. As he was going across the very kingdom, however, a noise would erupt from the side.

Investigating the sound, Harvard would notice what seemed to be someone similar to him. A child around his own age, with skin as black as night, wearing what he believed was a jacket of leather, as well as grey pants. What's most peculiar was his head: Horns that protrude out like a bulls, and ruby eyes that was frantically looking around for a spot to hide. A Demon. Harvard would notice as well some of the locals, all with angry faces plastered upon them, charging after the demonic child with pitchforks, holy water, and crucifixes, all aiming towards the demon as if they did a horrible crime. Taking it as a call to action, Harvard would step down from the trees and help the onyx boy, taking out what seems to be a card from his sleeves. The card itself would glow when resonating with the child, squarely aiming for the crowd of individuals, casting a bright light to blind everyone, while Harvard tackles the demon into some shrubbery, giving him his concealment.

The blindness was temporary, and as soon as the mob regained their vision, they realized the demon was gone. The mob scattered across the area in hopes they cover more ground, searching for the bastard child that, at first, Harvard didn't knew what was going on. When the mob disappeared, the boy decided to try and get some answers, striking a conversation with the demon. "Hi Hi, Scary buddy! You got any idea why you were running from these people?" The boy was the first to lead the conversation, waiting patiently as the demon would regain his breath

"I THOUGHT I WAS A GONER..." The demon panted, looking towards the boy who saved his life. "Thank you, by the way. The nerve of these people, wanting to hurt me because of who I am. Next thing you know, they'd try to drown me and call me a wi-" Harvard immediately interrupted the demon's rant.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it, but who ARE you? You look cool with the jacket and everything!" The child was brimming with excitement when it came to meeting this strange individual, looking around him like he was some sort of exclusive object, even checking out the jacket he owned. "H-Hey!" The demon replied, trying to take back said jacket. "No touchy touchy the merchandise! The name's Zazel. Zazel Cal'cul."

"Harvard! Harvard Helsing! Where were you running from?"

"Ahh, just some random chump who was taking MY stuff. I tried to teach him a lesson, he called out 'DEMON! DEMON!' Like some sort of wailing dog, and everyone swiftly ganged up on me with the holiest object around them. Jerks.." Zazel's tone was shown to be somewhat annoyed with the locals in this kingdom, before shifting his voice to be more positive. "I'm glad at least YOU are more sensible. Since when were humans this mean to people?"

"You'd get used to it." Harvard would chuckle nervously at this response, being more than familiar with pissing off a few locals. He'd investigate the outside scene to check if the mob fully vanished away. He'd continue himself as he'd step out of the shrubbery. "Follow me. I know a place where you can wind down. Beats sleeping on trees, in my opinion" He'd joke, to which Zazel would be confused as to why he would say such a thing, but followed suit.
