chapter 53- Sea of cards and quick switch

Having the judgement of the realm master to give you permission to open a gate was a hard task already, but the real hard part was the levels that the gate made the player have to level up through.

Maddie explained that you can either use coins to upgrade, but with each upgrade, the price becomes higher. The second method was the experience and learning procedure, which is giving your character time and training to upgrade, then they must be judged to handle a trial by the realm master. After that, they are allowed to keep that level. If you do not pass that trial and fail, then you are demoted by one level, and if you're at level one, then you are back at the gate's threshold.

It was a hardcore kind of situation, a great risk for great return.

"Tom, how you feeling?"

"Shit, how about you?"

"Shit, what about you, Max?"

He didn't answer, but I could probably guess what was going through his mind. With a sigh, I could at least acknowledge that we were here for him if he needed it.

"I got another gate card, so I maxed out on these slots. Can't change what about you? What did you get?"

"I got a key to a portal-like gate to another realm, same as Max before this second floor."

I nodded at him, but then those damn cursed words appeared again,

[Three hours until the next floor change. All three of you have shown bravery, creativity, and courage, but one shall not know their true limits until they start seeing inside.]

I wasn't sure what it meant by this, but it seems the waiting period has been shortened due to time constraints.

That wasn't good. We needed time to breathe, to adjust to this madness, but it seems chaos was the only thing going overtime today.

The cloak which I had was ripped, torn, and damp. It would be useless for the next battle. I needed to change.

I didn't look in my inventory, but somewhere else inside of me. All the cards which I have received are all in one place. I didn't know if it was my soul or my consciousness space that held all these cards. Every time I wanted a card, I only needed to think upon it, and it would be summoned within my hands. But it had two major flaws to this supernatural gift: there was a delay when summoning, about a two-second delay, unlike my nimble fingers' abilities which had no delay and were instant. This kind of summoning was lackluster. While the second flaw was it only stored cards, nothing else, unlike my pocket dimension inventory. I asked the others if they had this soul space, and they said yes, it was only natural. That was how Ellie summoned her bow.

My spiritual body was looking around to search for it. Bingo found it!

I accessed my inner soul space. Maybe I should change the name to something catchier, maybe Sea of Cards sounds much better. And I'll change the name for my other inventory to Quick Switch.

Now that was done, I summoned a cloak as it was created by brilliant lights converging around my body. The old and worn, torn cloak was now gone and replaced by something more sleek, longer to the point it was dragging on the floor.

But then it retracted, trying to fit my size. A cool feature that the Sea of Cards had was its ability to allow the characters who summoned a card to naturally fit to their liking, making it suitable for combat and other activities.

Wraith's Wrath Rank - Common Description - Once belonged to a wraith that was part of a dark order, this cloak can allow the wearer to turn invisible and not be seen by creatures within the same ranks.

I smiled at the information. My occupation as an assassin would become much better. The thought sprung to me just now - would I even get a job as an assassin in this world? Like we haven't even seen another human being. The gang was expecting a lush green forest and kingdom of marbles once we reached civilization, yet we haven't, meeting people and learning their way of life, their talk and traditions was half the beauty in a fantasy world, in which Maddie would call world-building. Yet so far, it felt more like a horror story than a fantasy world.
