The Mysterious Appearance of the Red Crayon

A couple purchased an affordable old Victorian house with impeccable features. Soon after moving in, the husband discovered a red crayon in the hallway. Although the couple didn't have children, the husband assumed it was left by the previous occupants and casually tossed it into the trash. A few days later, the wife found another red crayon in the same hallway. Puzzled, the husband commented, "I distinctly threw it away," and this time, he made sure to dispose of the crayon in the outdoor garbage bin. Several days later, the couple once again discovered the same red crayon in the hallway. There were no kids living in the vicinity, yet it was undeniably the same crayon. Perplexed, the couple decided to investigate the area where the crayon kept reappearing.

Upon closer examination, they found a wall with traces of concealed cement nearby. They decided to hire a worker to break down the wall, revealing an empty, foul-smelling room. When they shone a flashlight inside, they found the walls covered with red crayon markings that repeatedly read: "Mom, I'm sorry, let me out."
