Vindictus looked over his character right before he went into town and saw that his harvest skill had leveled up. Since he was playing in independent mode it had almost nothing to do with his success rate but the levels were necessary for some higher-level items. It would not stop him from trying but most of the time it would automatically fail if he did not have the level. On occasion it would let him succeed but those were few and far between.

The first stop in town was the blacksmith that he got the claws and fangs for. The dwarf on the forge heard him come in. "Back already young man. Did you get what I requested?"

"Master smith I have the claws and fangs that you wanted and a few more just to make sure that I got enough for your needs." He pulled the fangs and claws out and placed them on the counter.

"Nice work, young man. You know since you were so diligent in your work if you have the time, I can teach you a little bit about smithing. Are you interested?"

"Master smith is there anyways that I can come back tomorrow? I have taken a job from the mayor and I need to finish it up. I am honored that you would even consider me but I also have to honor my obligations."

"If you had not given me a valid reason then the offer would be gone but you are right in your statement that you have to honor your obligations. Come and see me before midday tomorrow and you can still learn from me. Here is your payment for these items."

A short sword and small pouch were placed on the counter. Vindictus was surprised that there was a slight glow coming from the weapon. The white glow showed that it was a common weapon instead of the basic trash class weapon that the original quest offered. The pouch also had the 50 copper he was offered. "Thank you master smith I will see you tomorrow." Vindictus picked up his items and bowed to the dwarf before he left.

[Level 3]

Vindictus stepped out of the shop so as to not bother the smith and after a little debate he put one point in his strength and one is his speed. He would go with agility next level. He walked straight across the street and to the tanner. Since the smith and the tanner were the two jobs that smelled the worst in any village they were almost always at the edge. He did his best to ignore the smell and walked into the shop. The old man with the heavily stained fingers did not even look up. He was in the middle of a stretch and could not be bothered. Vindictus knew that in the long run it would not matter what the NPC did but how he reacted could mean the difference in a good deal and getting shunned.

Finally, the man stood up. "Sorry about that young man. Did you get the wolf hides that I requested?"

"I did sir. Here are the ten hides that you requested." He put the ten hides on the counter and put the perfect ones on top.

The man looked at the ones on top and his eyes got even bigger. "These are amazing in quality. You have a real gift. I had intended to gift you that skinning knife if you were able to assist me but I think that is not enough. If you would, I would like to switch the one that I gave you with this one of better quality and not only that I would also like to give you a little bit of training if you are interested."

Vindictus pulled out the trash level skinning knife and put it on the counter and picked up the common skinning knife and put it in his pouch. "Master tanner, I have taken on a job for the mayor and need to honor that obligation would it be possible for me to come back later and learn from you?"

"Of course, that is fine. With this quality of work, I would hate to lose someone with this much potential. Come back in the next few days and I will be more than happy to teach you."

"Thank you master tanner. I will not disappoint you."

"I know this is a little more than we agreed on but here you go." He tossed a silver piece to Vindictus.

Vindictus had to smile he almost to level four and he still had not turned in the mayor's quest yet. He knew that the secret of the mayor's was that no matter what level you were at or the experience you had it would take you to the next level. He would take a look around and make sure that he was just past a level and then go and turn it in.

Vindictus checked the clock and saw that he only had about half an hour until the game opened up to the rest of the world. He quickly decided to run out and kill a few more wolves in order to make it to level four and then go to the mayor for level five. But he was going to have to hurry. He sprinted to the wolf spawning ground and picked out his first target. With his increased experience with the bow that he was using he quickly put three arrows into the first one and one of the hits was a critical. He quickly kited the first one and killed it before he got close. He quickly harvested the wolf and even though he rushed he still managed to harvest a quality hide.

Over the next fifteen minutes he killed the wolves he needed to level up to four and without taking the time to assign his points he sprinted back to town. He checked his ring to make sure that his identity was hidden and walked up to the mayor.

"Oh, it's you, young man. Did you manage to kill the wolves that have been harassing my people?"

"Mr. Mayor the wolves that you wanted killed have been killed. He pulled out the ears that the mayor had requested as proof. He pulled out all twenty left ears and showed them to the mayor.

"Young man you have gone above and beyond. Thank you for your service to our town. East Haven owes you a debt of gratitude." The mayor handed Vindictus a two silver and a small dagger that was glowing white.

"I am glad to be of service mayor. Is there anything else that you need assistance with?"

"I know that a few of my villagers are in need of some help. If you could help three of them, I would be very appreciative."

"Then I will go and see where I may be of assistance." Vindictus gave the man a bow and headed towards the alchemist. The thing that he hated about coming back from the future is that even though he knew the recipe of many different potions and the forging materials for a lot weapons and armor but without the recipe the system would not let him make anything.

[Assist village of East Haven 2/3]

There was a small cloud of smoke coming out of the back room of the shop when Vindictus walked in and he held the door open to let the smoke and the smell out. Since he knew that he would have a short wait to test his patience he pulled up his character and added his points. He added one to the four big ones and noticed something else, instead of the two-skill point that he got at fifth level he got three. One for the level, one for being human, the third one must have come from the system. This could change a lot of things for him.

Finally, a young woman came out of the back waving her hand in front of her face. "Oh, I'm sorry about that. I added the powdered owl talons to early. Did you gather the herbs that I needed?"

"Yes, ma'am I did. Here you go. I also found a few other items that seemed like they might be of use to you. The seemed to be closest to the biggest groups of wolves so that seemed like they may be important."

Just as he put everything on the counter the alarm he set went off and suddenly he could hear what almost sounded like a roar of conversation coming from outside the shop. All of the other players had joined. He was so glad that he had finished all of these quests before everything got crazy.

"That is amazing. The fire bells are in great shape and more than I needed and you have an amazing eye for herbs. The ice blue eyes are in perfect condition. You seem to have a knack for this type of thing. I am not quite a master but I am willing to teach you a few things to help you along." She put a pouch on the counter.

"Then I will be in your care." He picked up the pouch.
