Vindictus left the group and after just a few more minutes he could see the fog that surrounded the cemetery at night. Given that the skeletons on the outside were weak he did not think that the holy water would be necessary. The first became visible through the ground cover he drew out his bow and let the first arrow fly. He did not even wait to see how the first arrow was going to do before he sent out the second arrow.

[-39]

The skeleton was moving slowly and the third arrow dropped the thing to the ground. These skeletons were weak even at night. Well, the first few would be, after he got about half way into the cemetery they would become quite a bit stronger. And they also had a devious nature to them. After you killed the first few the other would come to that location and not immediately after the killer. This meant that once you hit the harder ones towards the middle if you had to run you would quickly find yourself surrounded and without a good strategy you would not make it out of the cemetery alive.

Vindictus gave it just a minute and saw the second two figures moving towards him through the fog. He immediately started with arrows. He needed to get rid of as many of them as he could so that they could not surround him. With this class it was highly likely that he would have to run the first time through. The second skeleton dropped at almost the exact same spot as the first one and the third one made it a few steps further. He moved forward and used his harvest skill and the body turned into a small pile of bone powder that went straight into his inventory. The second and third piles turned into the same but the third time a few copper coins dropped to the ground along with about half of the arrows that he fired. He was happy that they dropped since more often than not when something had a resistance to a type of damage it did more damage to the weapon and required faster repair and arrows almost never came back in one piece.

Vindictus moved a little further forward and then stopped and waited. Soon he saw another figure coming out of the fog. With no hesitation he sent arrows flying. This was the pattern that he used for over and hour until he was sure that any groups of skeletons had been eliminated and if he had to run it would only be one or two that had respawned while he was fighter further in the cemetery. He had just found his next target when he saw the number [-1] pop up above the creature's head. This was not a normal skeleton; Vindictus had made the middle of the cemetery.

Vindictus moved back a few steps and pulled out the arrows that he soaked in holy water. The first arrow hit and [-37] popped up and Vindictus blew out a breath of relief. Now he would not have to get help. At least he would not have to get help yet. He started letting arrows fly. It took almost twice as many arrows to kill this one than it did the last one. He harvested the skeleton and was a little surprised that besides the bone powder this one did not drop any copper coins but a single silver coin. This time Vindictus did not wait around like before. The skeleton soldiers in the middle did not act like the outer ones and would not bunch up but they would still respawn and just a little faster than the weaker ones.

Without any hesitation Vindictus moved forward and killed three more skeleton soldiers before he grabbed his second full quiver and added the holy water to them. He left it in his inventory and used the half a dozen that he recovered from the ones he killed and used them to kill the fifth one. He knew that he was getting close to the crypt and that was when he spotted the form that was standing right outside of the crypt. The problem was that the form was huge. It looked like a human but it was close to twelve foot tall. And to make matters worse it was carrying a weapon that fit its size.

Vindictus was just inside of the maximum range of his capabilities of the bow even in independent mode. He pulled out the new quiver and took aim. The arrow fell right into the things face and it bellowed in surprise and pain. Vindictus did not let up and kept shooting arrows as he moved. He was careful to not move further away from the crypt but back and forth in front of it. If he got too far away, he would go out of combat and the giant skeleton would go back to the crypt and be back at full health in an instant. He kept moving and he was almost to the end of the quiver when the bar over the giant skeleton started flashing and then it dropped to the ground in a huge pile.

Vindictus blew out a long breath and got another quiver treated with holy water and then he moved towards the bones and used the harvest skill.

[Harvest – Level 3]

This was a bonus that he was not expecting. But after all of the wolves he through that it was about time. He gained two bone piles and two silver coins as well as the huge sword that the skeleton was using. He then picked up the key that he needed to open up the crypt and really start the dungeon. Just as he was about to put the key in the lock a memory from another posted popped into his mind and he out the key in his inventory and headed around to the back of the crypt.

Right behind the main crypt was a smaller crypt that most people did not bother to look at once the giant skeleton was gone. This was still inside of the threat range of the giant skeleton so it would not start its' respawn time until he left the area. He had a normal arrow on his bow and kicked the door to the crypt in. A form struck at him out of the dust but Vindictus had already released the arrow. It pierced through the roof the of mouth of the snake that was living in the crypt.

Vindictus waited for the dust to settle and then walked in and his heart almost stopped when he saw the chest sitting in the crypt. It was glowing a light silver color. It should be known that chests came in colors just like everything else but they did not directly correspond to the color of items. Chests started at wood and then went iron, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, legendary and then finally divine. In his decade of playing, he had only heard of two divine chests and the most powerful one he had ever opened was a silver one and this time around his first chest was a silver. What kind of stupid luck was this? He needed to find a luck boosting item so that he could figure out what his base stat was. With a hidden stat like luck, you could only see what it was once you found something that would boost it.

Vindictus put his hand on the chest and an opening bar popped up above the chest. It took almost a full minute for a silver chest to open and he could not be disturbed in that time. This made it hard for a player by themselves to steal a chest from a monster or another player. That was also why he did not take care of the snake first and went for the chest he did not want a skeleton to come along and interrupt him.

The lid of the chest opened and Vindictus looked in and before he could stop himself, he yelled out in excitement. There was a scroll, two books, a pouch of coins, a quiver of arrows, and several potion bottles. He checked the scroll first and found that it was a return scroll. They would return you to the place that you designated. Right now, it was linked to the starting village and he would not dare waste it. He would pay at least ten silvers for one once he left the beginner village. And they were nowhere to be found in the beginner villages. He put it in his inventory and checked the title on both of the books. They were both ranger skill books. It was probably because he was the only one there. The first skill was the beginner skill eagle eye that he was offered at the character build but the second skill was the one that really caught his attention. It was a skill that was like the return scroll and not usually available in the beginner village.

[Power Shot – Level 1 (Active) for thirty seconds all arrows shot do 50% more damage and ignore 10% physical damage reduction and have a 25% reduction in range. Damage will increase and range reduction will decrease with levels. Cost 20 Mana Cool down 3 minutes]

Vindictus was so excited that he could almost scream again. He quickly learned both of the skills. The power shot had a little longer cooldown but the power increase and the ability to ignore the armor of something the higher mana and cooldown were both worth it.

The pouch had twenty silver coins and the potions were all healing potions so he was excited about them. The quiver of arrows was another item that he had not seen in the beginning village when he played last time. They were elemental arrows, specifically these were fire arrows and would do extra fire damage on a successful hit. With these new skills and the arrows, the little doubt that he had about the dungeon was now gone. He cleaned the snake of its skin, fangs and poison sacks and they headed for the crypt.
