15 Fooling Zola

Howard completed Carol's new suit and Carol modified a communicator on one of the Kree Battlesuits, handing Nick a flat rectangle. Nick looked at it and was startled, isn't this a smartphone?

Carol showed him how it worked and Nick picked up on it right away, nodding. During this time, Nick put in a request for a USB flash drive with a large amount of storage. Carol told Nick that this new communicator had enough storage to hold all the data on Earth at once.

Nick was dumbfounded and looked at her as she smiled, winking at him, "Impressed?" Nick snorted and turned back to the phone, curling his lips, "Not at all." Carol pouted and Nick received a cable to connect the communicator to ports on Earth.

He looked at Carol and asked, "Can you isolate it from the Internet?" Carol nodded and took the phone from him ,pressing a few buttons and handing it back. Nick touched his chin and smiled, "Wanna come with me to a place?"

Carol looked at him for a moment before saying, "I have to go soon… But I can stay with you for a few days." Nick nodded and put the communicator in his pocket, replying "Alright, come with me. We're going to catch a Nazi." Carol was speechless as they went to the car, "There are still Nazis?" Nick looked at her as he got in, "They're everywhere, stargirl."

Carol shook her head, sitting in the passenger seat as she replied, "What a backwards planet…" Nick drove off, pointing out, "You're from this backwards planet, remember?" Carol's lips twitched and Nick pressed a button on a clicker secretly.

A while later

Nick and Carol got out at Camp Lehigh, Carol looked around and asked, "A military camp?" Nick closed the door and lit a cigarette, explaining "It was the birthplace of the S.S.R which is the S.H.I.E.L.D of today." Carol nodded and Nick added, "You know Captain America, right?" Carol nodded and looked at him as Nick continued, "He trained here before he became Captain America."

Carol was stunned and said excitedly "Really?!" Nick looked helpless and nodded, "Yeah…" as he glanced at her strangely, walking to a bunker. Carol looked excited, "He's my idol! I remember joining the army because of his stories." Nick looked at her and asked, "Your memories are coming back?"

Carol waved her hand and explained, "After the Serums and Recovery Fluid, my memories have been coming back slowly." Nick nodded and made a mental note as he opened the bunker.

They walked inside and came to a row of portraits along with a bookshelf.

Nick came to the bookshelf and opened the hidden mechanism, revealing a door. Carol looked strange and Nick added, "This was added after." Carol tilted her head, "Nazis?" Nick nodded and they walked down the hallway to a door.

The duo opened the door and walked inside seeing a huge computer network with a terminal in the middle of the room. Carol was dumbfounded and looked around, asking "What the hell?" Nick walked to the terminal and a face appeared, saying "Hello."

Nick looked at the terminal face and said "Hail HYDRA." Carol paused and looked at the terminal to see the face replying "Hail HYDRA. Agent Fury, you've been recruited as well? Excellent." Nick nodded and replied, "Dr. Zola, we've acquired aliens technology that would allow you to have a better body than this databank." he showed Zola the communicator in his hand, explaining "This communicator can connect to all satellites and internet on the planet as well as store all of the data on the Earth without a sweat."

Zola was amazed and looked at Carol, asking "This woman…" Nick smiled, "The Alien. A Kree." Carol looked at Nick, who turned to her, she nodded, "Vers. Kree Starforce." Zola was amazed, "So it's true. The Fuhrer really was not crazy… Our research has long confirmed extraterrestrials outside of our Solar System, we just never had proof."

Nick connected the communicator to the port in front of the Terminal, explaining, "Pierce tasked me with bringing you this new body, Dr." Zola moved the camera to look down at the communicator, having never seen anything like it.

He looked hesitant and Nick added, "You can send a copy into it, Dr. I understand your hesitation." Zola sent in a copy before being amazed at the vastness of this new alien technology, the camera turned back up and said "A moment, comrade. I shall transfer all my data to this new body."

The Terminal dimmed and Nick stood there, crossing his arms.

Carol stayed silent and stood next to him, looking at the communicator curiously. They were both silent as the minutes passed, soon enough, the databanks started shutting down one by one.

Carol was dumbfounded, looking at Nick, who was straight faced.

Zola's face appeared on the communicator and Nick asked, "Should I unplug now, Dr.?" Zola confirmed, "Yes. My brain has been transferred, comrade. Our HYDRA will flourish! Haha!" Nick nodded and unplugged the Communicator.

He took the communicator and looked at Carol, saying "Now that he's trapped, there shouldn't be any threat from the HYDRA agents on the ground. He was the Brains of the operation."

Zola paused and Carol's lips twitched, "HE'S the brains? And you fooled him just like that?" Nick walked away, taking out a Kree grenade as he shook his head, "You can't say that, I know all the HYDRA agents. Not to mention, I had Rumlow inform Zola beforehand. He was finished as soon as he started."

Zola was dumbfounded, shouting from the communicator, "You fooled me?!" Nick looked at him and said, "A bit late, Dr. This communicator is isolated from all internet and satellites. You quite literally jumped into a cage. As for the copy you may have left behind…"

He tossed the Kree grenade behind him as they left.

The Bunk erupted into a huge ball of fire as Nick and Carol got into the car, driving away.

Zola was unable to say a word. Nick didn't care about him, turning to Carol as he said "I have a job for you if you want it." Carol looked at him and leaned back, propping her feet up on the dash, asking "What kind of job?" Nick turned back to the road, "I overheard a message from one of the Kree warriors…" his expression was grim as he continued, "Apparently, the Kree were colluding with a man called the High Evolutionary."

Carol frowned as Nick went on, "Apparently, this guy creates civilizations before destroying them on a whim… I don't know what sort of person he is, but he doesn't sound too good to me. Also, after checking S.H.I.E.L.D files, a bunch of animals suddenly vanished in one day a few years ago."

He turned to Carol and said seriously, "Apparently, the High Evolutionary is working on something called 'Counter-Earth'." Carol clenched her fists angrily, "What?!" Nick nodded and added, "I need your help, Carol." as he looked into her eyes.

She looked at him for a moment before nodding, "Of course I'll help you." Nick nodded and smiled slightly, before turning away and coughing, "Thanks." Carol curled his lips slightly, "Mhm…" she grabbed a lock of her hair, adding "Maybe I can find you a cybernetic eye too…"

Nick paused, this time he really wasn't acting, as he looked at her, saying "Are you sure?" Carol looked at him and smiled gently, "Mhm." Nick smiled and turned back to the road, not saying anything.

The car was silent as they drove back from Camp Lehigh.
