4 POSSESSIVENESS

"WHY YOU ask?" Sol asked while looking at Yule who was still licking the blood off of her palm. "It's because of my filthy blood, duh."

"Don't call our blood filthy," Yue scolded her before dropping her hand. "Mom and Dad will get heartbroken if they heard you say that."

She rolled her eyes at her brother. "Kuya, nothing will get broken because in the first place, none among our family members still possesses a heart."

'Kuya' meant 'older brother.'

She hated calling him that way but that was what he was to her.

Her brother just smirked at what she said about their family. "Go. Cloud will take you home."

"Why did you have to call Cloud?" she complained while pouting. She had a friendly relationship with Cloud. But that guy would always get attention because of his looks. Since she wanted to keep a low profile, she didn't like walking around Cloud who was treated like a celebrity wherever he went. Plus, she would just earn the wrath of the girls who liked Cloud and Yue. "I can go home on my own."

"You're not going back to your condo today, baby sister," he said. "Cloud will bring you to the main house."

The "main house" was where their parents live.

"Do I really have to?"

"Be a good girl and do as I tell you, Sol," her brother said in a dead-serious tone. "The Central Ave has found out that I have a little sister."

That meant her life was in danger.

"I may have been a very bad person in my previous life to have been born into in our family," she said while shaking her head. "I'll probably die young."

"You'll be fine as long as I'm alive, baby sister."

[I know that.]

"And I also feel unlucky for being born into our family," Yue said, then she squatted down to pick up the knife that he dropped earlier. "But for an entirely different reason from yours."

She ignored that remark because she had a feeling that she shouldn't ask. So she just changed the topic. "Has your ban been lifted, Kuya? Are you allowed to step foot in the main house again?"

"Yeah," her brother said while standing up. "I can't leave you alone in the main house, can I?"

Okay, she would admit that she was touched. Most people say that their houses were the safest place for them– and they even called it "home." But their family was different. Living in the main house felt like they were in the middle of a war or something. "Thanks, Kuya."

Yue smirked at her. "If you really feel grateful, don't lock your room tonight."

Sol rolled her eyes at her brother before she turned her back on him. "You're crazy, Kuya."

***

"KUYA, are you trying to make me angry?" Sol asked angrily on the phone. She just finished her shower and she was now in her robe while looking around her bedroom. If there was a spy camera in the bathroom, then there must be a hidden camera in her room, too. "Why did you put spy cameras in my apartment?"

"Your angry voice sounds cute."

She clicked her tongue at him. "I'm really pissed right now, Kuya," she snapped at him. Then, the giant cream teddy bear on her bed caught her eye. Yue gave it to her as a present before she moved into her new apartment. [Could it be…]

She carefully examined the eyes of the teddy bear.

And just as she expected, she discovered a camera lens installed in the stuffed toy's left eye.

She let out a frustrated sigh.

"Sol, you're really pretty," Yue said, obviously trying to annoy her even more despite getting busted. "Especially up-close."

"You're watching me right now, aren't you?" she asked coldly. She could feel Yue's disgusting gaze even though his brother wasn't physically with her. "Are you crazy?"

"I just wanted to make sure that you wouldn't bring a boy to your new place," her brother said, obviously making a lame excuse. "My plan is to remove the spy cameras after a month."

Oh, god. After a month?! She was so glad that she discovered the hidden cameras right away. "Why did you have to install cameras in the bathroom, too?"

"What, are you shy?" he asked while laughing as if he found it amusing. "It's not like it would be the first time to see you naked–"

"Kuya, don't say it in a way that would make other people misunderstand," she said, annoyed. "I won't sleep here tonight. I'll tell my landlord that I hired some contract employees to change the wallpaper in my room. Send your people here to remove all the hidden cameras in my apartment. I won't return home until you do so."

"Alright," her brother conceded. "Are you still upset?"

"Of course I am," she said firmly. "What are the hidden cameras for? Are you worried that I might back out from our deal? That I might run away for real?"

"I'm not worried about that," Yue said casually. "You can never run away from me or our family anyway. But since you're our precious little princess, we're letting you enjoy some freedom for now."

['For now.']

"Don't underestimate me, Kuya," she said firmly. "I may be the youngest in our family, but I'm still a Fontana. I'll prove to you that I can break away from you and still survive."

"You're growing up too fast, baby sister," he said in a disappointed voice. "One day I might just literally break your legs to keep you by my side forever."

She shivered with fear because she was fully aware that her brother never threw empty threats.

Yue had never physically hurt her.

Not yet, at least.

But the more possessive Yue gets, the more she grows afraid of him. She knew why her brother was obsessed with her. It had something to do with their fucked up childhood and cruel upbringing.

Deep in her heart, she knew that Yue was just trying to protect her in his own twisted way.

But it was suffocating for her.

"Kuya, I know that you practically raised me because our parents were too busy to do so. But that doesn't mean that you already own me," she reminded him coldly. "I'm no longer a child. I can protect myself now."

"You got one thing right– I own you," he said in his usual playful tone. "Anyway, I'll send people to your place tomorrow morning. Tell me where you'll be staying tonight. You better keep me posted if you don't want me to hack your phone again, Sol Fontana."

She just rolled her eyes at his demand. "Fine."

"Go to sleep now," Yue said coldly. But when he spoke again, his voice had become gentle. "I miss you, Sol."

And just like that, Sol's irritation towards her brother disappeared. "I know, Kuya."
