10 chapter 10...pain

Jack sat on top of a tall roof as he overlooked the city. Ironic since the last time he was on top of a roof he was hanging off a helicopter.

The night air was refreshing, and the slight gentle breeze made his nerves calm down. The people of the tower were setting up the UV lights in the floors that were cleared.

Jack had no idea what to do anymore. The zombies that were once plaguing the city were disappearing with only volatiles being left.

Jack pulled out his phone and remotely accessed Ziggy. Once in control he led it through the vents until he reached rais room.

When he did, he allowed Ziggy to fall on him and then let Ziggy proceed with the kill.

With a smile Jack commanded Ziggy to get near rais head, and in one final sacrifice it blew up.

Rule number 2 double tap.

Jack got up before finally going down the tower, since he still had some slaughtering to do.

And while people started coming out of their houses to deal with the zombies, that doesn't mean they were brave enough to tackle the sewers.

Jack used his body to his advantage and grabbed the volatile and pushed forward, knocking over all their zombies before impaling the volatile on a spike.

Jack picked up a bar of rebar and used it to absolutely mow down the zombies. Even when the rebar broke, he used the metal part as a spear and impaled a volatile to a wall.

Jack knew how far he could push his body before it broke, and that was a good thing since not many knew the limits to their body.

Jack grabbed one of the virals heads and proceeded to yank it off. Sometimes the fastest way to kill em is to rip and tear.

"Ten points," Jack said as he stomped on another volatiles head.

"25 points," Jack said as he managed to pin three volatiles on the same rebar.

Jack began making a game of zombie killing, And totally not out of boredom.

That being said, the sewers were finally cleared, and it only took about three days.

"Man, you need a girlfriend," one of the tower residents chuckled.

"What is that?" Jack asked, confused.

As he entered the military young, he never had time for relationships. Only training, and even then the only people he got along with was his team.

The man blinked as he stared at Jack in shock.

"Seriously?" The man said. They turned their heads to the conversation.

"yes... Where I was from you had to worry about not getting killed. It was fight or die... So pardon me, I don't know what a girlfriend is," Jack said in genuine confusion.

Suddenly a pair of hands grabbed Jack's collar, and there was jade pulling him away.

"Sorry, but he's already spoken for," she said, dragging him to the elevator.

"Wait where are we going?" Jack asked as he was dragged.

Meanwhile the guys were giggling and nudging each other. Idiots the lot of them.

...

Jack fell asleep for the first time in days, and he appeared in the office room he was once in.

"Finally. I was wondering when you would finally sleep," death said.

The paperwork that was once massive, was now significantly less.

Jack's eyes still narrowed at the man's neck, but made no attempt at taking his life.

"Thanks to you, my workload is significantly less than what it normally is, and luckily no hidden surprises left in harran," death had said as he looked at Jack.

"What is it that you want?" Jack asked as he crossed his arms.

Death put his hands on his chin and his index fingers were pressed against his nose. He was clearly thinking of his next sentence.

"You my dear champion, are the sole reason this world hasn't fallen to chaos. Ironically it was supposed to be another in your place, but as he died early on I needed someone else to fill the role," he said.

To this Jack only raised an eyebrow.

"And why specifically me?" Jack asked.

Death merely raised an eyebrow and scanned Jack.

"Look at you. You're a walking tank. If you were able to stop Makarov and survive getting impaled through your chest, why wouldn't I pick you?" Death shrugged.

Jack shrugged.

"I didn't necessarily survive getting impaled though. I died, and the only thing that kept me alive was pure hate," Jack said.

Death laughed.

"See what I mean? You're built differently. If I were to go to Micheal and say a human of all things refused to die because of hate, I would be laughed at. Nobody would believe me," death said as he signed some more paperwork.

Jack tilted his head and looked at death.

"I have a question." Jack said as he looked deep in thought.

"Go ahead, I promise to answer anything if it's within my power," death said with a shrug.

"What is a girlfriend?"
