Chapter 8: Amaterasu

A minute later, Yasaka and Amaterasu joined Sasuke in the training ground. Sasuke nodded in acknowledgment as he prepared to demonstrate the connection between his eyes and their abilities. Focusing his gaze on a nearby tree, Sasuke closed his left eye and gathered chakra. This allows him to cast Amaterasu eventhough it now housed the rinnegan he got from the sage of six paths.

With a swift motion, he reopened his eyes, and his Rinnegan radiated a brilliant glow. Uttering the name "Amaterasu" in a detached tone, Sasuke harnessed the power contained within his eyes. From his piercing gaze, an otherworldly phenomenon ensued.

Jet-black flames surged forth, propelled by an inhuman speed, it travelled towards the tree. Upon contact with the tree, the pitch-black flames erupted in a torrential blaze, casting an overwhelming heat that engulfed its surroundings.

The inferno intensified without any sign of stopping, consuming the tree's form and reducing it to mere ashes. Yet, the flames refused to be quelled, persisting relentlessly upon the ground with an unyielding vigor, as if defying the very concept of extinction.

Sasuke turned his gaze towards Amaterasu, noting her recognition of the connection emanating from the flames he had created. He explained to her the nature of the black flames, emphasizing their relentless burning and their resistance to extinguishment unless he willed it so.

Amaterasu, intrigued by the familiarity of the flames, attempted to exert her control over them, but her efforts proved futile as she barely controlled it. She realized that suppressing the flames would require a substantial expenditure of her own divinity.

Observing this exchange, Amaterasu recognized Sasuke's intriguing potential and pondered the prospect of him becoming an ally to her pantheon. Her initial concerns about him posing a threat to Japan seemed to subside, especially as she noticed Yasaka's enamored expression towards Sasuke.

Assured that Sasuke's intentions were directed more towards understanding this new world, Amaterasu resolved to provide him with the information he sought, as a gesture of goodwill and a step towards fostering cooperation.

Amaterasu acknowledged the connection between Sasuke and her pantheon, recognizing the existence of not only the black flames but also the purple avatar he had manifested upon his arrival. She assured him and said, "Yasaka, my miko, would be available to offer assistance and serve as a point of contact whenever you need anything."

Sasuke reciprocated the nod, and replied expressing his desire, "I hope my true origin will remain undisclosed." He also conveyed his willingness to lend aid and emphasized, "If there as a significant threat within my capabilities, I will do my best to provide assistance."

Amaterasu expressed her gratitude and reassured Sasuke, " I would not reveal your information. If anyone inquired about our connection, I would explain that you are an ally who had been raised secretly by Yasaka since you was young." Sasuke realized that this was a good idea and agreed to maintain the story.

After Amaterasu left, Sasuke and Yasaka were left in silence, with the lingering crackling sounds of the extinguished flames. Suddenly, Sasuke realized that he had forgotten to completely extinguish the black flames, causing some loss of composure. He swiftly put out the remaining flames and surveyed the damage they had caused to a portion of the training ground.

"Cough, I apologize for destroying your training ground, Yasaka. If you want, I can fix it for you," Sasuke said nervously. Yasaka smiled and reassured him, "Don't worry about that, Sasuke-kun. My people can take care of it." Sasuke nodded, relieved by her understanding.

Sasuke decided to approach Yasaka, feeling a sense of closeness between them. Yasaka blushed as Sasuke came closer, admiring his cool demeanor when he summoned the black flames and the powerful pressure he emitted.

"I apologize for my earlier outburst and the pressure you felt. I hope you didn't sustain any injuries. As an apology, you can ask for something you want," Sasuke said sincerely, scanning Yasaka's body to ensure she wasn't hurt, though in a non-intrusive manner. Yasaka was deeply touched by his consideration and smiled at him.

"Well, I hope you can stay at my home for the rest of your time here. I'll continue to cook for you," Yasaka suggested. Sasuke chuckled at her comment and replied, "Okay, Yasaka, I'll be in your care," as he playfully poked her forehead with two fingers. He then walked away and returned to the house.

Yasaka felt his touch on her forehead and placed her hand over it, feeling the lingering warmth. She blushed and thought to herself, "Oh, Sasuke, what are you doing to me?" It was a new experience for Yasaka to be on the receiving end of such teasing, but she found it surprisingly pleasant. She liked the way Sasuke made her feel with his gentle touch.

Yasaka giggled softly as she made her way back to her home. However, a tinge of sadness crept into her thoughts, knowing that Sasuke would eventually leave if he found a way back to his own world. Despite the short time they had spent together, she had come to appreciate his presence and found him to be different from others.

Deep down, she desired for Sasuke to stay in her world and share his burdens with her. She understood that it wouldn't be right to manipulate his decision, but she was determined to make him feel comfortable and happy during his time there. She felt a sense of selfishness in wanting him to choose her world over his own, yet her desire to be something more with Sasuke outweighed those concerns.

As Yasaka continued to ponder her feelings, she couldn't help but wonder if Sasuke felt the same way. Was he also struggling with the decision to stay or go? Or was he simply enjoying his time in this new world without any attachment?
