14 Chapter 14

The 14th Chapter

When Altair saw Issei in his current state, he broke into an even wider grin. It appeared as though he took pleasure in seeing Issei upset.

''So, Altair-kun, you... you're not an ordinary human right?'' Rias thought that she should get straight to the point, since she was scared that Issei would do something reckless, besides the tone she used was not one of doubt, but one of an affirmation.

Altair narrowed his eyes, since he didn't expect Rias to be so forthright, but since it had come to this, he could act as he saw fit.

''You are wrong Gremory-san, though, I must inquire about you; are you even human? Or should I say everyone here is human?'' He said shaking his head refuting Rias' comment about him not being an ordinary human and then turning his head to each of the others in the room.

This action by Altair, made Rias narrow her eyes.

Does he believe he can trick her?

''It's no use lying to us we just want to know what you are and what you are doing in my land, and answering your question, yeah we are not humans but devils, and you probably already know that.'' Rias sought an explanation from Altair, while confirming that she and her servants were not human.

Altair found this all humorous, Rias talks as if she controls Kuoh, but Altair understands that things may not be exactly like that, besides who did she think she was to demand anything from Altair?

''Pathetic.'' He thought.

"I've already said that I'm a human, and whether you want to believe it or not, that's not my problem. Besides, don't act like you own this territory, because from what I can see, you don't even run this school right," she remarked. In response to Rias' demand, Altair shrugged his shoulders and spoke with a tone that suggested he was slightly amused by the fact that Rias believed she was the owner of the Kuoh Territory.

If it were her brother in this meeting room, then maybe Altair would have to act in a more passive way. After all, Rias' brother is extremely terrifying and probably one of the strongest people in this world, so acting tough against him would not be a very smart thing to do at least not for now. However, Altair is aware that in the future, things might not be like this at all.

Altair's reaction, led Rias to slap the table hard.

''DON'T LIE TO ME, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR A HUMAN TO HAVE HALF THE MAGIC POWER OF A HIGH LEVEL DEVIL.'' Rias was outraged at this time, because she knew that Altair was plainly lying.

Altair was increasingly thrilled to watch Rias's reaction, but he was also a bit disappointed, after all getting out of control in a conversation or negotiation, only reveals how weak that person is psychologically, moreover getting out of control like that, makes you lose the lead in the conversation.

And because that was something that Altair had been looking forward to seeing, he was content with the situation at this point.

"High level devil? If everyone else is as pitiful as you, then I really can't expect much from them.'' Altair repeated each phrase casually, as if he didn't care about the redhead's scream of wrath in front of him.

That was the trigger, Altair was definitely ridiculing her. Was she the Gremory princess pathetic in his view?

In just a few moments a violent intent was radiated all around the place.

And Rias was the one who brought that intention into being.

''You are really arrogant... but do you think you can get away with it after uttering those words to me?'' A scarlet aura encircled Rias' body and wrath was not veiled in his voice.

-----

All the individuals in the room went rigid, for them Rias' aura was not something they could handle so easy, especially Issei, who had only lately become a demon, he was shaking with terror, and all that could go through his thoughts, was how strong his Buchou is.

But to Altair, this was nothing more than a petulant child's tantrum.

''Interesting, so who will punish me?'' Altair's question came accompanied by a big smile. Considering that he is aware of what will occur now.

"That's very simple. It's you versus me and my peerage, and if you come out on top, you'll be a member of my peerage." Rias remarked this with a haughty tone, thinking that this fight would be the easiest of his life; in fact, in his mind, this could not even be termed a fight; rather, it was a massacre.

Rias is going to force him to get down on his knees and apologise, even though she now wishes she had handled the situation more calmly. This no longer appears to be a possibility.

''You look quite confident.'' Altair replied laughing softly.

Rias' arrogance was hilarious in Altair's eyes, and he is well aware that her pride is also at an exceedingly unhealthy level, so he is more than happy to shatter it for her.

"But of course, I will demonstrate the power that the Gremory clan possesses to you!" She spoke with self-assurance about the capabilities of her peerage.

This caused Altair's eyebrow to raise in surprise. Is it really so great to be a member of the Gremory clan? Or would it be preferable to be a devil?' To Altair it didn't matter what race the person belonged to, in front of him it would be nothing, and the reason was his system, which would allow him to have a steady and unlimited growth, at least Altair thinks he would be able to grow eternally as long as he preserves the system.

In that case, when are you planning for us to get started? Altair questioned, while still seeming to be an unfathomable expert, but only he knows how delighted he was to test his strength.

''Let's fight immediately.'' Rias was concerned that if she postponed this fight until another day, Altair would escape, which would render her entire strategy useless, and so she came to the conclusion that it would be best to engage in combat right away.

And without waiting for Altair, she and her peerage began to proceed towards the arena that was behind the building, which was something that Altair had not realised he had until that moment.

When Altair had a good look at the arena, which was located quite a distance away, he was forced to admit that the magical power possessed by the devils was indeed something else. After all, regular people would not be able to view this arena.

When he saw that Rias and her peers were already ahead of him, he made the decision to follow them. As he was walking, a sound that he was very familiar with began to play through his head.

[Quest Alert!]

"I didn't think you were going to show up," you said. "I was wrong." Altair did not waste any time and immediately started reading the Quest that he had been given at this advantageous time.
