32 The Test
"How long have you been fighting?"
Susanoo wondered. To be able to take down Grim Reapers who are far stronger than devils and angels of the same level.
Kento wasn't sure how to answer that. He knew that no one was going to believe if he said less than two months.
But he still chose the truth. "About a month."
This immediately made the god of the seas explode in laughter. "Gahaha! That's it! I know you will do well in this test."
Kento already figured that it would be a battle themed test, but he still wasn't sure about his opponent.
And seeing that he would have to fight, Kento finally decided to ask. "What will the test be, Kami."
Susanoo smiled and clapped his hands. "She will tell you."
The moment he said that, Kento saw the door to the room sliding open as a very familiar face walked inside.
"We meet again, Kento."
"Indeed, Lady Yasaka." Kento felt a little better seeing someone he knew.
"Yasaka." Susanoo called. "You will be the one to explain him about the test."
Yasaka nodded. "It is very simple, Kento." She said. "You will be fighting against one of my elite guards, and if you manage to win against him, you will be able to pass the test."
Kento was not sure if it was going to be as easy as she said.
"And who will I be going against, Lady Yasaka?"
"It will be someone that will be able to target a very specific ability that many people lack."
And at Kento's confused look, Susanoo grinned. "The ability of acute calculations amidst fights."
"You will be fighting one of my elite Tengu guards." Yasaka explained. "They are known for their speed."
'Ah shit…'

In one of the biggest mansions of the devil world, a man sat with a beautiful woman on his lap.
"Yubelluna." The man said. "Do you believe there is any point in this rating game?"
The woman that sat right atop his crotch smiled. "Of course there is, Lord Riser." She said. "That is to make your abilities shine even further."
Riser grinned. "You definitely know how to make Riser happy, Luna."
Saying this, he kissed the woman. His hands moved under her dress, yet he was not able to do anything more than that as a sudden knock on the door halted his act.
"Lord Riser?"
Riser knew who the voice belonged to. And while he was upset that he was stopped amid his fun, he knew that the person never bothered him unless it was something important.
"You may enter, Xuelan."
At his permission, a well-endowed Chinese woman walked inside. She was shorter than Riser's queen with two Chinese buns tying her hair.
"Heiress of the Gremory pillar sent a letter to you."
Hearing this, he was quite surprised. "Letter?"
Never did he expect to receive a letter from Rias, but there it was. Enclosed in a red envelope.
Yubelluna got off his lap and picked the letter from Xuelan, before giving it to Riser.
Riser knew that it came on behalf of Rias as the envelope was the signature Gremory red.
"Let's see what Riser's future wife has to say."
Opening the letter, he expected either her begging for more time or her surrendering to him.
However, it was not what he expected at all.
//Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is not Rias who wrote you this letter.//
It was not written by Rias at all.
//It is me, Kento Yamazaki, that is writing this letter.//
'Kento Yamazaki?'
//Of course your bird brain won't remember me.//
Reading this, Riser frowned.
//But you will remember if you think hard enough, Chicken haired devil.//
This made Riser's frown turn into a full on face of anger.
'It is him… That fucking worm.'
//Bingo! Not whatever insult you are thinking for me, but I am indeed the guy you met on the day you visited Rias.//
'Why did this worm write to Riser…'
"Is everything alright, Lord Riser?" Xuelan asked, but Riser could not answer because of his anger.
//Well, I wrote this letter to you to remind you that whatever you said you would pay me is still unpaid.//
Xuelan and Yubelluna were confused as to why Riser's mood changed so fast.
//I know that you want to have a fight with me, and trust me I want to beat that grin out of your face as well. But it is not possible to do so without breaking a few laws.//
Riser gritted his teeth.
//And I am not sure if you are afraid of Rias that you prevented her from finding substitutes for the Rating Game. But since you did not allow it, it won't be possible for me to fuck you up either.//
Riser nearly burnt the paper with his flames, but he wanted to see how long Kento went on for.
'This fucking piece of trash dares to write this shit to Riser? The audacity!'
//It would have been possible for us to have a fight if you allowed her to find a substitute or two, but since you rejected her request… We won't have a fight in a long time.//
The two girls were worried about their king.
//So, have a fun time battling Rias, grain feeder. If you did not get it, I called you a chicken –again.//

"Xuelan!" Riser was fuming. "Where is father! Riser needs to discuss something with him!"

Kento knew that this was going to be a tough fight.
With his stats and skills, he could easily take down middle class enemies. And if he added Tessaiga and his other miscellaneous items into the equation, he could go on par with a high class opponent.
However, his current opponent was a speed beast and even with his passive, his speed won't be enough to counter the Tengu.
'System allocate thirty points in agility and twenty in vitality.'
With the passive, his agility would increase to 145 while his vitality would increase to 130.
'It still isn't enough.'

Seeing the sword in his hand, Susanoo grinned as the Youkais shuddered a bit. Even Yasaka was a bit uncomfortable because of it.
'So that is the sword.' Susanoo grinned, liking what he was seeing.
"Then begin!"
Without wasting a second, the Youkai rushed at Kento.
Kento immediately jumped back as the Tengu's stuff swung at him.
The Tengu did not waste any time as he swooped in for a punch.
{Horo-Kanu}
Kento noticed that the Youkai was not the best in terms of strength but his speed and rapids strikes were annoying to deal with.
'I can see him being able to chip away the defenses of high level opponents with this technique.'
But Kento had no intention of allowing the Tengu to hit him.
Kento summoned a bolt of lightning and shot it straight towards his legs, which the Tengu dodged with ease.
However it was not Kento's aim from the start.
'He is good for a beginner.' Susanoo thought. 'But against the Tengu, it is not good enough.'
Using {Horo-Kanu}, Kento swooped in hoping it would take the Tengu a second to recalibrate himself from the light arrow.
However, the Tengu easily dodged this and flew up.
Susanoo looked at Yasaka. "It was difficult for him to handle the Tengu on ground, in air it will be even worse."
As the Tengu flew up, his aerial skills came in play allowing his speed to increase multiple folds.
Seeing this, Kento gritted his teeth.
"Darn it!" Seeing this, Kento knew that he would not be able to take down the Tengu with his martial arts.

Creating a mixed artillery strike of light and water, Kento casted {Blindshot} to make sure that the strike did not miss.
"Brilliant!" Susanoo laughed as Yasaka nodded.
"Creating a barrage of attacks using two elements, he can prevent his opponent from using an element that hard counters." Yasaka was impressed. "As not everyone is able to use two elements at once."
The Tengu frowned seeing this.
"However, that won't work on a Tengu."
As Susanoo said this, Kento saw the Tengu forming a whirlwind –consuming his arrows of light and water and dispersing them in seconds
The Tengu did not waste a second and immediately casted lightning strikes towards Kento and only using the combination of his {Flight} and {Light Manipulation} skill was Kento able to dodge the bolts.
The Tengu immediately rushed at him with his staff and realizing that he did not have many options left.
Kento decided to use his {Lingering Potion of Poison}.
This surprised both Yasaka and Susanoo as they did not expect Kento to take out a bottle of poison.
"Did he just throw poison?" Susanoo found it amusing.
"It is not normal poison." Yasaka frowned seeing fumes rising from the ground where the bottle hit. "It has a lingering effect."
The poison bought Kento some time but he knew that he needed to be able to land a strike on the Tengu to win.
'Think Kento, Think!' Kento gritted his teeth.
As the Tengu regained his posture, Kento had no choice but to attack.
Summoning an orb of water and spinning it at a rapid pace, he threw it towards the Tengu. But the Tengu did not dodge his attack, instead he used his staff to break the orb.
As the orb hit the tip of the staff, it exploded into a massive mist.
'Wait!'
Seeing this something clicked in Kento's mind.
The Tengu summoned a massive orb of flame, much bigger than Kento's water orb.
But the previous attack that Kento did, gave him an idea.
A brilliant idea.
Seeing his smile, Susanoo got interested. 'He figured something.'
The moment the Tengu threw the orb, Kento erected a wall of water. The wall was a defense against the fire while also preventing the Tengu from looking past it.
Behind the wall of water, Kento casted his {Light Manipulation} again.
But this time, not to create arrows.
Instead he made an orb.
At first this confused all the onlookers.
"That won't help him in hurting his opponent." Yasaka commented.
"No." Susanoo agreed. "But…"
Kento threw the orb and just like the previous orb of water, the Tengu decided to stop it with his staff.
However…
"He did not intend to hurt the Tengu with it."
The moment the orb hit the staff, it exploded and created a flashbang.
"He used it to take away his vision!" Yasaka was amazed.
"Ugh!" The Tengu was unable to keep his balance, and the lack of vision allowed Kento to rush in with his Sword.

Landing a clean strike on the Tengu with his martial art skills alongside a slash from his sword, Kento was able to bring it down because of the four times damage effect from the sword added with the damage on the Tengu's nervous system.
Allowing him to win the fight.
"Victor! Kento Yamazaki!" Yasaka announced.
