5 A Wild Raynare

There was the sound of vehicles and people moving around.

It was the end of the school hours and late in the afternoon. The sky had already taken a reddish-orange hue due to the sunset.

Under that reddish like light Kamijou was staring at the strange girl who had just stopped him. The girl before him was beautiful enough to make any man turn their head.

Silky black hair that reached all the way to her hips, violet eyes and lastly, curvaceous and slender figure. She was around 164 centimetres tall and was wearing a school uniform.

The name of this cute girl was Yuuma. However, that was a lie. Her identity was of a fallen angel with the name Raynare.

Her eyes were darting here and there while she was wearing a very cute expression. It was the look of a nervous girl who was about to confess to her childhood crush. If she was a normal girl Kamijou would have been happy but knowing this girl was a sadistic fallen angel trying to get close to him was a major turn off.

...This girl, she is a very good actor.

Kamijou thought. Her charm and innocent aura made it impossible for anyone to suspect her without prior knowledge of her true nature. But he completely ignored all of that and reached what was important.

Why the hell did she approach me? Kamijou thought.

(If I remember correctly, she was supposed to approach Issei because he possessed a sacred gear. As a result, she regarded him as a threat and eliminated him. That's when Rias saved and reincarnated him into a devil. So why did she approach me?)

At moments like these, Kamijou really thought he would reincarnated with the ability to read minds instead of a special right hand.

Kamijou took a glance at his right hand. That right hand had the power to kill God but outside of that, it was utterly useless. It would not let him defeat a pro boxer, it would not raise his GPA, and it would not make him popular with girls.

As if that wasn't enough, that right hand wouldn't allow to use any form of supernatural power. Even if he used all the knowledge of magic he gathered in his previous world, what was the point if he couldn't cast a single spell?

Because of that, he could not fandom why Raynare will ever want to associate with him and he wasn't dumb enough to think she was trying to get friendly with him either.

"Ah!" After pondering for an answer, Kamijou reached a conclusion.

Every human in this world has an energy source known as Mana present in their bodies. To use magic, they will need mana or any form of power. But because of his right hand, Kamijou didn't have mana within his body.

Wasn't that strange? In the eyes of any supernatural being, that alone was very odd. That does against the basic principles that was known to them and because of that, it was natural they will be cautious or curious.

It was part of one's nature regardless of their origins to be afraid of the unknown. Kuoh town was the territory of the devils. The girls must have taken note of his identity but has not confronted him for some reason.

However, Kuoh town was also the home to fallen angels. Just because the devils decided to ignore him from the time being doesn't mean the fallen will ignore his existence as well.

Perhaps this fallen angel had noticed his existence and approached him to rate his danger levels. If he was powerless, there was a chance he will be spared. If he was deemed dangerous, he will be eliminated. But knowing Raynare's personality, she would probably kill him either way.

If he ignored her, she will use lethal force and he went on a date with her, she will attack him. No matter which choice he would choose, the result won't change.

Kamijou sighed. He was really unlucky. As if his daily misfortunes were not bad enough, he had somehow entered the supernatural world. If he had power it wouldn't be a problem, but besides his right hand he was utterly useless.

He sighed once again. At this point he should just take an award for the world's most unluckiest man or the universe punching bag.

"Huh?"

Kamijou suddenly had an amazing idea. He always had this theory that he was unable to test out. But if he hang around this fallen angel, wouldn't he be able to confirm that theory?

This was a good opportunity to test out that theory. However, there was a dangerous risk.

(If my theory is correct, I would be able to defeat any supernatural being with a single punch. But if my theory is wrong, then I'm toast.)

If he was right, he would win. If he was wrong, he will die.

It was basically a dangerous gamble. But it is not like he didn't have a backup plan.

(I can solve all of this by just reporting to the devils. After all, this was the devil's territory and this guys are basically trespassing. But that will mean exposing the fact I am aware of the supernatural so they won't let me go.)

Each action had consequences he knew that much. No matter what he choose, he was already getting involved in the supernatural.

Simply put, his plan on living a simple life was basically thrown out of the window.

"Ugh... Such misfortune!"

"Sorry, what did you say?"

Ryuji Kamijou was surprised by a cute voice.

....Ah! That's right.

He was so lost in thought, he had completely forgotten that yuuma was still here. The girl was tilting her head to the side in confusion.

"Nothing. So why did you call me again?"

"Oh, right."

Yuuma blushed, looked down and starting playing with her fingers.

Why the hell is this bitch blushing? Kamijou thought as a vein popped on his forehead.

Maybe it was because he knew the true personality of Yuuma or Raynare or whatsoever she called herself, her act became even more obvious.

Not only his forehead was twitching, his right hand was also twitching to punch a fallen angel and one just happened to be infront of him. One good punch was all it would take.

No! Kamijou immediately calmed himself down. If he showed any sign of hostility, the fallen will deem him as a threat which was ruin his plans.

"I have been seeing around and you look really handsome so I thought if you wanted to know each other?"

"So you're asking if we could go on a date?"

"Yes, you can say that."

"That's okay. But first, what's your name?"

"Oh, I'm Yuuma."

"My name is Ryuji Kamijou. So what time are we meeting for the date?"

"Kamijou... what a strange name. Eh? What did you just say?"

Yuuma seemed to have been thinking about something before she snapped back into reality.

"I said when and what time are we meeting for the date?"

"Oh, I see. I think something Saturday will be great."

"Yeah, Saturday is perfect. Let's meet up by 12. 12°clock in the afternoon sounds perfect, right?"

"Y-Yes?"

"That's great then. I will see you on that day then. Oh, one more thing. Let's exchange contact info."

After Kamijou pulled out his phone and exchange contact info with Yuuma, he simply left the girl alone.

"...?"

Yuuma stood there and stared at the back of the retreating Kamijou in bewilderment. Everything happened so fast that it took her a few moments to process what just happened.

...He accepted just like that?

Yuuma thought in confusion. Truth be told, Kamijou didn't really enjoy her presence so he looked for ways to leave her quick and retreat.

No, him being shy had nothing to do with it. Just because he had information about the characters such as angels, devils and fallen doesn't necessarily mean he was invincible.

Realistically, he came face-to-face with one of those creatures, he would choose to run away. Even if he trained his physique to its peak condition, he would still be defeated by the average low class devil. That was why he was avoiding the devils present in his school.

"Such misfortune!... Why do I have to be this unlucky?!!"

Kamijou shouted with all his heart as he ran away from the shocked Yuuma.

Within the building of the Occult Research Club, two priceless beauties were sitting opposite each other.

Black hair and Crimson hair. One of them was short in length while the other was long.

Sona Sitri and Rias Gremory. One of the most popular girls in the entire Kuoh academy. One was the student council president and the other was the president of the occult research club.

However, the true identity of those girls were devils. Yes, supernatural beings that could only exist in a fantasy book and high-ranking ones at that. If someone heard that, they will simply laugh. But that was just the truth of the matter.

Sona and Rias were just playing a casual game of chess but the current atmosphere was far too serious for such a game. After all, it was the future of their peerage they were talking about here.

Speaking of peerages, their entire peerage was also present within the very room located in the occult research club. Even the silent Koneko was sitting on the coach and eating a bag of cookies.

That was the sound of Sona moving a piece on the chessboard.

"Good evening, Rias. I assume you called me here to talk about our two second years. Although it's strange for two sacred gears to appear at the same time, this will work in our favour. But there is a big problem now."

She spoke with a business-like manner and Rias nodded.

Sacred gears.

They are powerful created by God as part of his system to enact miracles. Certain individuals with Sacred Gears were known to have grown to become very powerful and influential.

Those powerful artifacts can manifest into reality by choosing a host. Some can manifest on the user's limbs while some can dwell inside its host.

However, it was a common fact that only humans are born with that special power. That's why devils reincarnate those humans into devils using the evil pieces. It couldn't be helped.

After the great war, the numbers of the three races greatly reduced so they had no choice then to use humans to survive. It was ironic. Despite being stronger than humans, the three races had no choice then to rely on humans in order to survive and increase their numbers.

"Yes, we agreed that when we found a sacred gear user, we would compete for him."

As she spoke, Rias moved a piece and countered Sona's move.

"Yes, but now we have two potential sacred gear holders. Issei Hyoudou and Saji Genshirou. I have already confronted Saji which leaves only Issei."

"I see. Do you know which Sacred Gear Issei possess?"

After moving a piece, Sona began to think.

"Well, judging from the little dragon aura I'm sensed from him, I suspect he is the holder of the critical twice."

"Critical twice?"

Rias pondered.

The Critical Twice was a dragon-type sacred gear that doubles the power of the user for a certain time. However, if you compared to other sacred gears, it was just a common type so it didn't have that much power.

"Very well, I think that's fair. But I noticed you said suspect which means you aren't sure about Issei sacred gear, right?"

Rias responsed as she moved her queen. She captured the Knight of Sona.

"That's right. In the end, it is still a gamble."

Sona used this chance to corner Rias' king. By the time, Rias realised what was happening, it was already too late. Rias clicked her tongue.

(Considering her circumstances, it is understandable why she is in a rush. Her engagement with Riser is not too far now)

Sona thought before she suddenly remembered something.

"Ah! Also, there is this boy that has caught my attention lately."

When Rias heard that, she responded with an "Oh" and showed interest. What kind of boy was able to get Sona's attention? Rias thought.

"Wait, don't me our serious Sona has finally found someone she likes?"

Rais smirked as Sona rolled her eyes at her.

"Please, you know It's not like that. It's something else."

"You mean to say he's somehow connected to the supernatural."

"You could say that." Sona then became serious. "Tell me, have you heard of someone called Ryuji Kamijou?"

"No, this is my first time hearing about him. Akeno."

Rias queen who has been silently standing besides her responsed with a "Yes."

"He's a second year from class 2B. He is one of the top class student in their class and quite good-looking too. Although, he is known for being rather clumsy and is prone to getting into fights."

Rias pondered. Despite having the ability to understand all languages, her Japanese was still too class.

"The God Purifying Demon Slayer. What a peculiar name indeed."

Rias said, amused. She wondered what will happen if someone from the supernatural world hears such a name. It was possible the boy would have been attacked from one of the factions.

"Right? When I first heard his name, I became suspicious. But I became more suspicious when I couldn't sense even an inch of energy from him."

"Huh? Why will you suspect him for that though?"

Sona sighed.

"Everybody in this world possess energy in their bodies no matter how little it is. Issei is a prime example of that yet Kamijou apparently has none. Don't you find that strange?"

At this point, Rias finally realised why it was strange. While every devil have demonic power, every human would have mana. Because of that, it was possible for any human to use magic regardless of their lack of talent.

But was it possible for one particular human to not possess that energy. It was similar to a tiger not having stripes on its body which was impossible. In other words, the possibility of a human not possessing mana was practically zero.

"So you are suspecting he is hiding his mana?"

"That's right. I suspect he is from a mage cabal or the vampire faction."

People who can hide their magic presence was not a strange occurance. However, it was a complete misunderstanding. Kamijou really did not possess the ability to use magic. His imagine breaker negate all forms of supernatural energies and powers including the ones of its wielder. So he was truly just a hopeless boy with a special right hand.

"Worst case scenario, he might be a spy ordered to observe us."

"That is a possibility but I think we are going to fast here."

They were both the heiress of their respective clans. It was not strange for them to attacked by rogues that were not satisfied with the current state of the world. In any case, they had to be curious.

"So observing him will be the best choice."

"I agree."

"Since we have come to this conclusion, I will take my leave."

Sona got up from her seat and left the room with her peerage, leaving behind Rias and her peerage.

Rias crossed her legs and began to think. The light of the fireplace illuminates her from the side and made her crimson hair glow, giving her beauty an almost fantastical edge.

Her beauty as illuminated by the flickering fire changes along with the shifting shadows, her expression giving off differing impressions accordingly.

At times like a goddess, and at times like a devil. Back and forth, and back and forth. Like the changing waves of an ocean or a vast sea. As for what she was thinking, not even her peerage knew.
