Chapter - 1: A bond that transcends time and space

----------

[Kuoh Academy]

[Third Person]

It was a day like any other in the city of Kouh. At least for ordinary people. What these people did not know was that the area where they lived was haunted by devils and was considered devil territory.

And Koneko Toujo was having another bad day....

She had had another fucking day and another seven hours of her precious time that she could have used for something much more productive than following a pervert like a little slut attached to his little cock.

Koneko resisted the urge to sigh and roll her eyes in annoyance as she made her way through the school's long corridors to her freshman class; she had to admit that sometimes she hated how unnecessarily large this school was, but with two hereditary brothers and Satan's younger siblings attending, it wasn't all that surprising.

[Picture ----> Koneko Toujo]

And as always, people were constantly greeting her and trying to talk to her, invading her personal space. She could honestly admit that she despised being called by that disgusting nickname they gave her.

Honestly, she would have liked to punch all those losers who called her that, but the only problem was that her tower strength would send them straight to the hospital while she would be spanked by her king until she learned her lesson.

In fact, she could not help but wonder if her king had sexual intentions towards her, considering how much time Rias spent on her ass to punish her. But considering how much time Rias spent with Akeno, it was not so surprising that she had become a sexual deviant.

Besides, there were a million other things she could have done to make better use of her time. Like sleeping or listening to the rap music of Salamander Tomita, a Kappa rapper. Or continue training so as not to fall behind the other Peerage members.

Or she could eat. Right now, she would kill for some dessert. She was starving after training too long the night before. After getting home, she had spent time watching food reviews and gaming videos on DeviTube, along with live streaming gaming sessions, and had even dozed off despite setting an alarm.

Frankly, skipping school for a day was tempting, not that it would really affect her in any way. She wouldn't exactly be looking for a job after graduation, since her primary goal was to stay by her king's side and become a high-class devil to prove her worth to the entire underworld.

But then Sitri would take care of her case... She really was a nerd to the death. She couldn't really understand how a devil could be so diligent in her work, but then she thought that it probably had something to do with her sin of pride, which made her want to control everything and everyone.

This time, Koneko couldn't hold back the sigh of annoyance that escaped her nostrils, "I guess it's better than keeping an eye on that stupid pervert obsessed with boobs." She shrugged as she finally reached her classroom.

Ever since they had confirmed that Issei Hyoudou had a Sacred Gear and she had been able to detect a rather strong smell similar to that of a dragon, Rias had been wasting Koneko's time spying on him during the day.

[Picture ----> Issei Hyoudou]

For the last two damn weeks...

All that idiot did was stare at girls, look at porn magazines, or talk about a harem with his stupid perverted friends. And she could live a happier life without ever having to hear that bald idiot practically drooling over her. Or the other two drooling over Rias and Akeno and their stupidly huge breasts.

Just because he smelled like a dragon. Rias thought he had a powerful Sacred Gear, but what good would it do in the end? The guy wasn't exactly fit, and his magical power was terrible, maybe the lowest she'd ever felt; she'd heard of human children with more magical power than him.

Could he even use his Sacred Gear with such weak magic power? And it wasn't like he was the only human at Kuoh Academy with a Sacred Gear, there were actually quite a few, and even if they didn't exactly smell like a dragon, they all had much stronger innate magic power than the pervert.

"Speaking of dragons..." Koneko's eyes landed on the seat next to the window at the back of the classroom. There sat the only one in her class she had found in possession of a Sacred Gear.

And even though he smelled of dragon to a certain extent, even if much less than Hyoudou, at least as far as she could tell, it gave her a strange feeling that she couldn't quite explain.

Judai Hyoudou, or maybe it was Hyoudou Judai? He was the younger brother of the pervert; the two of them were like day and night. Even though he was superior to the pervert in many ways. He was fit, the star of the school soccer team, even though he was only a freshman, and undoubtedly had much more magical potential to work with than Issei Hyoudou.

[Picture ---> Judai Hyoudou/Hao]

Actually, she had only noticed him because the punk had taken the seat she wanted, but at least that had made her notice him, and when she had been close to him, she had smelled a very, very faint scent of dragon. And he had some of the highest magical powers among the humans at the academy.

Rias and Sitri had theorized that both of them might have a double critical, or at least something that connected them to dragons. But even after researching their family backgrounds, they hadn't found anything. They came from a normal family with no supernatural lineage, which was really strange.

But Rias promptly decided not to pursue him yet; it was a "decent" prospect, but apparently not one to rush into, since they all went to the same school and they could watch his growth.

Frankly, she preferred him to the pervert. And most importantly, she wouldn't have to listen to him talk about big boobs all the time. Sure, she had caught him ogling girls while she was watching him, but at least he hadn't shouted it out and made his dream of a harem known to the whole damn school.

Koneko stopped as she made her way to her desk and couldn't help but blink in surprise, as if something had registered in her senses while a familiar scent enveloped her.

But there was something else that gave her a strange feeling, as if he was somehow using Sejutsu, although it couldn't be, since she didn't feel any ill intentions coming from his Ki.

She blinked as she examined Judai. His magic power had increased since yesterday. By... A lot. Well, not really. Compared to her and the other members of Sitri's peerage, he was still very weak.

But his power had at least doubled since yesterday. He was approaching the kind of magical power she had noticed in Sitri's peasants after their first reincarnation in devils.

And that wasn't all. The dragon scent emanating from him was much stronger. Before, she couldn't smell it unless she was standing right next to him, but now she could smell it from ten meters away.

What had happened? Had he activated his Sacred Gear? Even that wouldn't explain such a sudden growth. It wasn't even about activating a Sacred Gear, as far as she knew; they were easy to summon if the possessor knew they were there and could openly manifest in moments of great emotion.

"Well, whatever." Koneko shrugged mentally, not caring. She had let her king know, but beyond that, it had nothing to do with her at this moment.

She just hoped that she wouldn't have to spy on Judai and even his perverted brother. That would really suck, at least he had good taste in food and certainly didn't look at her like a piece of meat.

Damn, she hated perverts...

[Interlude]

'She noticed.'

"I'm not surprised, considering you're finally regaining your old powers after your last battle with the 'Light of Destruction' that caused your reincarnation in this strange universe," a female voice said in his mind.

"Well, it would have happened sooner or later and there's no point in dwelling on it." Judai shrugged as he glanced out of the corner of his eye at the girl with short white hair who was staring at him from the front of the classroom.

"True, but as usual, you're being too accommodating and putting yourself in a vulnerable position against them. We don't even know what kind of beings inhabit this school and if our current strength is enough to face the dangers of this new world."

"You're overthinking it. Based on what I've observed, they show no inclination to harm regular humans, given their efforts to peacefully coexist with everyone'

"All of this could be an attempt to deceive humans and catch them in a moment of weakness," she said. "Also, keep in mind that they're not only watching you, but also your perverted brother, because he has that salamander in his soul..."

Judai couldn't help but grin as he said ironically, "My brother seems to be truly hated by the entire female population of the world. I wonder if he's been cursed by some God."

"Hmph," she scoffed, her disgust and contempt evident, "He's a negative influence on you, and as if that weren't sufficient, that dragon had the audacity to attempt to infiltrate your soul."

Judai couldn't help but chuckle as he remembered that moment in his new life, 'Looks like someone has become more jealous since we arrived in this world, isn't that right, Yubel?'

[Picture ----> Yubel]

Yubel didn't seem to mind his teasing at all; on the contrary, she seemed quite amused. "Oh, I can assure you that you will know when I am jealous and possessive of you, Judai," she said, her voice mixing amusement with sweetness, signals that were not good news for him.

"..."

Judai decided to remain silent, not wanting to open this Pandora's box. So he wisely chose to change the subject, knowing full well how jealously protective his guardian could be.

'Since I arrived in this universe, my connection to the 'Gentle Darkness' has become fragile, almost non-existent. That's the main reason why my powers are so weak compared to the past.' The Guardian's heart squeezed at the young man's words, a storm of old memories crashing down upon her.

Yubel nodded, trying to hide the worry on her face. "It was an unexpected blow, but fortunately, you haven't lost your connection to the other duel spirits. We must find a way to overcome this weakness. Only then can we hope to return to our world."

Outside the window, the sky shone with a blinding light, but for Judai, it was nothing more than a reflection of his own inner struggle. 'You know, Yubel, right now I feel truly free. Free from the constraints of fate, free from the duties imposed by a primal force. I am the embodiment of the balance between Darkness and Light, and now I can choose to live my life as a normal adolescent.'

Yubel listened in silence, her heart filled with love and concern for her Supreme King. She would give anything to ease the burden on Judai's shoulders, but she knew she couldn't do it alone. She had to always be by his side, ready to support and protect him as she had promised in the past.

'That is true, Yubel. I feel that my battle with the 'light of Destruction' has come to an end, at least for me. There will be others who will have to face it from now on. Now I can finally enjoy life as a student, without being the mediator between the supernatural and the normal world, without having to save the world from beings from other dimensions or universes, like the Nightshroud.'

Yubel nodded, Judai's words echoing in her heart with poignant clarity. "I will be here for you, Judai, always and forever. But I must ask you: is that why you refused my advice to awaken the dragon in your brother's soul?"

Judai sighed, his eyes filled with silent pain. 'I could have done it, Yubel. But it would have meant tearing him away from his normal life and throwing him into a dangerous world that even I have trouble fully understanding. I can't allow my brother to experience the same suffering and despair of losing something important without having any control over his own destiny...'

Suddenly, a sensation of warmth enveloped him as two arms wrapped around him in a tender embrace and strands of white hair brushed against his face. "You're not alone in this struggle. I'll forever be by your side, Judai," Yubel whispered.

'I know, Yubel', Judai replied in a tone of emotion that only the two of them could understand, allowing himself to be embraced by the comforting warmth that soothed the turmoil in his heart.

This story mainly focuses on Judai and Yubel and their supporting each other in this new world. And trying to be able to live a life in peace without having to save the world again.

I plan to do some crossovers with this world, for example I had in mind for the time being Testament no Devil Sister, and Rosario no Vampire, Madoka Magika - Mahō shōjo???, Fate and other characters from other Fandoms but we will see in the future.

If you see any mistakes, I would be grateful if you would point them out to me, so that I can correct them when I have some spare time, and make the story as complete as possible for myself and especially for you.

To facilitate a clearer understanding, I've retained pictures of the respective characters. Your feedback is always valued, and if you have any suggestions for the upcoming chapter, please feel free to comment—I'll be sure to respond as usual.
