Day 3 of the Games pt 2

Rias cont.

Sairaorg slams his fist into the air sending out shakes and vibrations that permeate throughout the whole cave. Rocks starting falling as the walls split down on both sides. I cast a Seisu and pump it with as much magic power as i can. I get a closer look through the cracks in the atmosphere and i can see them burning with a pale red flame.

A gigantic fissure starts making its way down the ground threatening to break the entire cave. Percy is out cold under some rubble and Sona is barely standing while using her flames to slow down her injuries. I prepare my magic to launch a counterattack when everything around us pauses.

Time stops as Sona, Arthur, Sairaorg, and I all exchange glances. After a few seconds we hear the sounds of heels clacking on the ground. Merlin emerges from a side cave dragging along an unconscious Harry Potter and Blake Belladona.

"So this is where all the noise came from" she teased as she drops the unconscious competition. She turns her attention to Sona first and says "That magical orb is impressive, to think someone would enchant a gem to generate endless water. Fascinating and that flame of yours. Tranquil properties? Hmmm" she turns to Sairaorg next.

"Firm muscles and a good stance. But that magic is currently too much for you. Your muscles cant withstand your own force. You keep taking thay kind of damage and youll end your life early. You obtained that power from one of those devil fruit right? Understandable you need more training."

Next was Arthur and she just looked at him with dissatisfaction "I've seen better." With a dismissive expression she looked at me. "Ive heard about these magical books that only one person can read." She begins to walk over to me. I try moving my body and even channeling my destruction but when i did she waved her finger and my body glowed a bit.

"No no we cant have that now." She taunts me as i feel my power get sealed and my heart starts beating faster. She reaches out and grabs my spell book and starts flipping through the pages one at a time. "Fascinating its even more fun than that boy's magic. Alas a simple soul bound spell isnt enough to satiate my hunger. Hmm? Interesting the book is a medium for the spells." She slams the book closed and looks me in the eye. "I really hate cheap ways to learn magic. This book and how it gives you temporary power. I hate it, so ill do you a favor. These books that gives you temporary power, Ill destroy them all. Magic bound to a book is no magic." She lights a small flame and gets ready to burn my book when i snap.

All the training i went through to master that books power. All the hard work and dedication. All the plans that me and my peerage centered around my support. I wont let it end!

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" I surge my destruction to the utmost power i can muster. Merlin halts her actions and just looks at me amused. I AM RIAS GREMORY. The magic she had bounding me begins to break. I DECIDE MY PATH. The magic shatters under the aura of destruction. I stagger forward with one goal in mind. My muscles tearing and skin burning under the raw chaotic rampant destruction magic. I WON'T LET MY HARD WORK END HERE. I hold out my trembling arm to the book resting in the uncaring embrace of Merlin.

I stretch my hand out when i feel the full backlash of my power. My lungs are filled with blood as i struggle to stay awake and fall on my knees. I reach my hand out to the book with determination. Im inches away when all the destruction around my body dissipates leaving me naked to deal with Merlin's aura.

I collapse on the ground when Merlin says "Oh Well i guess that other one is about finished the elder Wyrm and the Noble girl should be almost done. I guess ill make my move. By the way I'll keep this book for now Gremory. Come take it back when youre stronger."

I lay there in dissatisfaction as she clicks away on her heels. A few minutes after she left she's announced the winner with Rossweise in second and Seira takes third.

My body was a mess from the backlash of my power. I was in the hospital wing with my peerage waiting right outside the room. Ill be fine in 2 days but for now Law said I needed rest.

"Hey Law-kun," i call out to our super chilled doctor "Was all my training worthless? Ive been trained by the strongest devils and the strongest phoenix so why is it not enough? Why am i still so weak." I feel the tears descend from my eyes. I cry for about 10 seconds before Law spoke.

"Why do you fight Rias? You want strength but for what? Whats your plans whats your goals? Percy wants to find a suitable place he can settle down and live a notable life. Sairaorg wants to build a prosperous name for himself so his mother doesnt have to live in shame. Sona wants to nurture the next wave of supernatural to not only bring them together but to make sure they all have a chance to flourish."

I stop to think at his words and he's making sense. Beyond beating Riser for my engagement to end i had no aspirations for the future.

Law continued "Once you have made a decision worth fighting for, you'll overcome that part of you always subconsciously wandering aimlessly. That power you showed in front of Merlin. That was your power but it looked more like it was fighting you." He got up from his seat and started heading towards the entrance "The first step to overcoming your weakness is to find a new reason to grow. You've halted because you were aware your goal was easily accomplishable. So if you want to grow, you need to find a reason to."

With those words he left me sitting there contemplative. My peerage rushed in the room with worry on their faces. I cant help but smile at my friends. They've always been there for me. Yet what have i really done for them.

Ive decided. After these games Im gonna work on their problems one by one. They deserve a life not shackled by their traumas. I will grow from this experience. Constantly moving forward and never wavering to others whims. Isn't that how you would do it? Kyouya-san.
