9 Chapter 9: Discoveries, Final Preparations, & Awakening of Ddraig

After another day at school, specifically after I met Rias, I was back in my home, but instead of laying down on my bed, I went straight to my dad to curiously ask him about 'devils,' 'Lucifer,' 'Gremory Household,' 'Three Factions,' 'Step in the right direction after mentioning Anti-Satan,' and if the yakuza group knew about the supernatural. 

His face was jovial, perhaps because I visited him. Or because I came directly to him to talk? Or my speedy recovery? 

But it receded just as quickly as it appeared as his face turned serious the moment I mentioned those keywords. The expression on his face was not of a father looking at his son, but of a yakuza leader looking at his heir to the clan he commands. My gaze sharpened as well when I told him what happened to me,

"So, you've finally got their attention. I'm surprised though, to think meeting a girl jumpstarted this," he said with a smirk. But with a nonchalant face, he causally continued. "Hopefully, this doesn't interfere with your other engagements.."

A stunned look was all I could show because of his casual way of saying this. But the surprises didn't end there when he elaborated. Turns out the engagement he 'forgot' to tell me about was to Suzaku Himejima. It seems like the old fools, specifically Suoh, are trying to get connections to our yakuza clan to use as a backing to intimidate the other 4 principal clans. Big surprise. 

"So what do you think?" I adopted a thinking pose. 

"Truthfully, I'm not opposed. She's incredibly kind and we've mentioned it in passing," I replied.

"I see. Any other specific reason?" His gaze sharpened, so without holding back I said. 

"Suzaku is already the clan leader of the clan and because of her views and dream it'd be the chance we need to reshape the whole clan without the need for the old people to be so cruel and stiff. That way we could make it clear to them that we're not to be messed with… Of course, the specifics need to be discussed but with the engagement, it'd pave the way somewhat."

Dad just nodded his head, in an impressed way and continued with his explanation.

There was some information I already knew but then I came across some new things probably because it's a whole different world. 

"Your mothers, Miyu and Mamako, both have contacts to the Yokai faction, specifically Yasaka, the Shinto faction, or rather Amaterasu, the Greek faction in the form of Artemis and Gabriel from the heaven faction. I won't go into the full details since they should know more than me so if you want to ask, ask them," He said with a sigh. 

Imagine my shock when he specified their powers. Mamako was someone who held the power of Gaia (Mother Goddess of the Earth) and Yemaya (Mother Goddess of the Ocean) while my own mother is a brutal martial artist, given the title Rampaging Beauty. He was shuddering in both fear and battle junkie excitement. I think he fought them… Just a hunch but this fool of a dad of mine really was born for battle huh? 

In a whisper, he mentioned that Mamako was the one who became the Lord of Grayfia, but she had to cut ties when I appeared in her life, so suddenly, years ago. 

What a small world! Wait, so is this why Grayfia has such a favorable impression of me? But it didn't seem like she knew Mamako was with me. 

Then my dad gave me some more background on his fame. 

In a nostalgic voice, he said, "I was the one who united every yakuza in Japan, which caught the attention of Lucifer, Sirzechs Lucifer. He offered to reincarnate me, but I declined. At that point in time, your mother was pregnant with you and I wanted to step away from the battlefield and cement some unity in the human underworld with the yakuza."

From the look on his face, it seems he does not for a longer life or more power. 

With a guffaw, "Azazel was one of my drinking buddies, he's from the Fallen Angel Faction, Grigori or some such. He would meet up with me, Marika's father, and Chitoge's father. We'd get a scolding from our wives, but it was all in good fun." 

What are you saying, old man? So basically, coincidentally, surprisingly, everyone has some form of connection to the supernatural. Wow. I'm astonished. With the Three Big Factions no less?!

"Dad… those are a lot of factions you have contact with…"

"Really?" He asked as if it wasn't a big deal. This is good, it helps with my quest but like… I feel like a gamer who used a cheat code but by the end feels hollow because it doesn't feel the same. Ima cry. "Well, either way, there's some big feud going on so it's more of a pain than anything."

I suppose that makes sense. No one wants to step up to make peace, so it's more of a Cold War. 

I went back to my room to digest every piece of information given to me, not before giving my dad a heads up about Lucifer's call and thanking him for all the information. It's a lot to think about. And so many surprises right after another. My moms are scary. 

Now I was lying down while absentmindedly looking at Jibril, casually thinking of how I was hounded by the girls earlier today. Only because they were alerted by their Ryu Radar- something about knowing I had another encounter with a girl. A wry smile came upon my face as I remembered the interaction. Thankfully it wasn't as serious as I was expecting. I didn't want to lie so I told them I helped a girl find her sister and brother which eventually led to an engagement. They just stared at me and sighed in a defeated tone, saying things like, """It's Ryu-kun/Ryu/Ryu-chan,""" "He probably doesn't know the effect he has on innocent young girls," and "It can't be helped." 

I was so confused. Like, what's with the slander? Are you girls going to have the same reaction every time or a different one? I wanna know so I can prepare!

Why are they giving up on me and not pounding me into the ground? Do they just accept it? Maybe they're more accepting because they're still kids? 

What helped me get through the day were the angelic Shouko-chan and Saki-chan, instead of replying like the others they asked me about the girl and if they would be able to meet her since she sounded incredibly sweet. 

Shouko-chan had asked me, with her big innocent eyes, which were sparkling in anticipation, if the girl would be willing to be her friend while Saki-chan couldn't wait to meet her since everyone I introduced to her had always been incredibly kind to her, she stared at me with expectation and unrelenting trust. I was struck down by their critical hit combo… and practically glowed the whole day with a shit-eating grin.

As I thought about the complexities of cuteness and the sweetness of the two angels, I arrived at the Rias situation. Did I help her to get to that intentionally? Hell no, her sorrowful silent sobs just struck hard. Perhaps I'm overly sensitive to emotions now? Was I thinking of developing a relationship with her? Indeed, I admit it'd be nice to get to know her and have a friendly relationship, but I just said what was on my mind!

The reconstruction just sped up the awakening of your true bloodline, so of course women will be more interested in someone like you. It's the natural potency of your presence, aura, scent, and existence. That's still not taking into account your titles, your skills, and your Stats. For your skills, though 'Aura of Infinity' is toggled off, because you don't have enough control over it, you still unconsciously release it which then combines with your 'Pheromone' skill, since it is passive even though your control over it is better. This unconscious use of your skills combined with your massive Charm and Luck as well as your titles will of course attract females to you. Fufu, you natural Lady-Killer, Ryu. ]

Huh. So do they view my presence as some sort of bishonen anime filter? So, I'm the bane of all men. Great... Can you pull up the Titles and the Pheromone skill, Eve?

They will always have a favorable impression of him and even if there is a chance for them to hate him, even without having met, it will change into a neutral impression. The favorability will steadily rise whenever close to the host. ]

[ Title ~ Maiden Charmer: This title is given to those who have successfully made multiple girls fall in love. This can only be acquired if the host has found and bonded with his soulmate. Effect- The host will find it easier to raise the affection of virgin/innocent girls/young women. The effect will be doubled- if the host already has multiple girls in love- on those he has only just met, meaning they will automatically have a favorable/fond impression of the host. The fondness they have for the host will steadily rise whenever in close proximity. ]

[ Pheromones (Legendary Rank): -Passive Skill- The user will be able to exude and control a secreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species. In other words, the host can release pheromones that induce attraction between subjects that will only increase in intensity based on the host's race (and the subject's race). Those who are romantically interested or have some form of affection will naturally be drawn to the host and will have their lust levels rise as they spend time in close proximity to the host. Because the host is capable of controlling pheromones, he will be able to exude them to induce a relaxing sleep, increase arousal, and/or speed up the time of mating. Note (Warning) : Host's Race(s) will influence the intensity of the aroma. ]

I'm like a walking bag of aphrodisiacs, huh? I mean, it's something I kind of figured based on the girls around me and the title names, but still. Isn't this like something harem protags in fanfictions have? May God have mercy.

As soon as she gave me the alert, a magic circle formed near my head, and I was able to hear the transmission being connected. 

(Hello? Ryu-san?)

(Yeah, what's up, Grayfia-nee-san?)

(I discussed the favor and the engagement with Lord Sirzechs. They are both deemed acceptable because of Rias-sama's intervention, but you will have to meet Lord Sirzechs in person. He insisted on meeting you in person and talking to your father, regardless of the favorable impression we have of you. I believe they've met already in the past, so Lord Sirzechs will notify him. The schedule for the meeting might be tomorrow afternoon or the evening. This will also be a secret meeting, I think your father already has a proper room where we can teleport safely without alerting other factions. )

(...I see. Well, if Rias is okay with me then I'm delighted to be engaged to her. Though it was a pretty fast development… Hmm, that time sounds good for me, I'll be waiting. Ah, right, I might have to cash in that favor sooner than expected. I'll fill you both in tomorrow, make sure you bring Rias along.)

(Hehe, you did say all those sweet words to her in that vulnerable state of hers. What a naughty and sly boy you are. Judging by your voice it's something urgent and you kept it vague to discourage me from asking. Very well, I will let Lord Sirzechs know. You must have a good reason for this or else...)

(I just said what I thought! And okay okay, no need for the scary tone Grayfia-nee-san…)

And with a poof, the magic circle disappeared from my head. 

Did you trace the signature back to the underworld Eve?

[ Yes, Ryu. If you can condense your aura along with the Infinity inside your core, you will theoretically be able to teleport to the underworld where the signature was marked. You might be able to achieve it on the first try, but some practice will need to be done. Though you could just leave the traveling to Jibril, you know. ]

Sweet. This shall be used in the future. Does this also mean that Grayfia will be able to teleport here? And I could leave it to Jibril, but she insists on reading everything first. And when she does finish reading, she ends up downloading more. Plus her teleportation only works when she has been there before or if she can physically see it. 

[ She will not because your aura prevents other beings from accessing your 'territory.' Territory in this case only refers to your home. And because your aura can spread out to cover Tsuoh Town when it is on, beings will only be able to teleport out the farther away they are from you, all it does is become harder for them to. While the space around you (your home) will be on lockdown, no being will be able to teleport out of it or into it. Only those you acknowledge will be able to access your 'territory.' ]

Woah, what the hell, that's cool. How come I didn't find out about the room then, is it hidden? Probably. Ima keep the aura toggled off to not disrupt them when they teleport there. 

I'll go ahead and register Grayfia and Rias' magic signatures tomorrow. Though I'm guessing you already did it for Grayfia, right?

I still gotta make final preparations for tonight. I just mentally sigh to myself when I take another look at the screen I saved to the side of me, right at the corner of my eye. I use my fingers to move it in front of me and then pinch it outwards to enlarge it. Sure, using mental commands might be easier but it feels cool using a game window in real life.

I still have about 4 hours until the attack, it might seem like I can go right away and wait it out but I really can't. If I just popped in, what would Shuri, Akeno, and Baraquiel say? Not to mention I might drive away the attackers.

I'm just glad Jibril was able to locate the shrine for me in advance. Plus I'm sure the clan and the fallen angels are keeping a lookout for anything that might interfere. The only thing I could do would be to teleport as soon as the conflict starts, while Jibril deals with C*ckiabel. I'll just store his body together with Razevan. Kinda forgot about the dude.

"I can't keep putting it off," I murmur under my breath as I close my eyes and think about what I have been putting off. 

I will have to kill again, won't I? And it probably won't be any different than the first time I did it. The devils and fallen angels I killed were all rotten to the core after all. Since I could read the souls of anyone it will basically tell me everything I have to know about their crimes and whatever atrocity they committed. It might be easier, it might not be. But it's still something I chose to do, I want to save them from their fate. So I will.

Still, though, I know this might cause some disturbances for the Himejima Clan, for Grigori, and for the devils considering they might be looking for the rogue devils. Ah, Heaven might already be notified about the masked person's intervention, which is me but they don't know that. 

But now I have a lot of information to work with thanks to my dad. It might be a good idea to talk to Suzaku and tell her what happened after I rescued Shuri and Akeno since I'll be in possession of the clan members whom I deemed redeemable. 

This might also be my chance to meet up with Amaterasu and discuss the 'cleaning up' of the clans. It might be made doubly effective if I include my moms but I won't since it will just be a meet and greet while planning it out for the future. I'm still a kid, ya know. I know it may cause a ruckus in the Shinto Faction, but I'll just discuss what to do with Suzaku. 

Damnit, I'll have to make sure to stay oblivious to their accusations to guarantee Akeno a place in Rias' peerage. Kind of like I 'happened' to run into Akeno and she requires asylum. Regardless of what I think, Rias will need a peerage for what's to come, and having more help and people to rely on is good for her. 

Sure, I may be implying that I had something to do with the whole situation but I won't confirm or deny it. I'm sure Rias is dying to have a friend to talk to openly. It might even serve as a way to motivate them to get stronger. And thanks to the teleportation point they have and I discovered, it'll be easy to come back and forth. 

Ima need to hide the existence of Shuri though, plus I'm sure Shuri will want some time away from Baraquiel after all. Perhaps I can hire her as a maid…? Either way, I'll probably be sending him updates on what's happening and that they're okay. 

Oh man, I have to start setting up plans to get involved in the game-making industry as well as manga and anime. Though it may be the human world for now, I'll make sure it gets distributed into the many other factions in order to provide me with an income and perhaps a celebrity status whenever I debut. 

Should I do it for music as well? Gotta think about it. I can't forget the whole getting stronger thing too, since it's equally as important. After all, who's going to listen to someone who has no proper background other than the yakuza one?

So many things to do~.

As my brain tries not to overload because of the many things I must do, I hear a familiar sound in my head and sure enough, there's the game-like window. Only this time instead of being light blue or white, it's a crimson red with orange all around, like it's aflame. Seems familiar… Ah! Ddraig huh. Nice timing.

[ Ryu, countdown till awakening… 10 seconds ]

I checked the time and it seems I still have three hours, okay perfect. 

[ Awakening of Red Dragon Emperor of Domination; Ddraig Commencing… ]

[ Boosted Gear Now Available For Use. ]

[ With the Awakening of Ddraig, you are now able to increase your control over your body, soul, and power Ryu. It will now be easier to integrate your human and dragon bloodline, they awakened at the same time after all when you bonded with Ddraig and when you took the power of Infinity with your Human Magic Core. ]

As soon as that last message appeared I activated my Aura of Infinity because I felt my left arm flash red for a split second until it started transforming, emitting an even brighter crimson light. I closed my eyes for a bit and when I reopened them a red gauntlet with two green gems and ten gold spikes manifested on my left hand. 

Looks cool, but shouldn't it be more dragon-like? So before even beginning my talk with Ddraig, I used my Sharing is Caring skill to transfer some of my Shapeshifting ability directly toward the gauntlet while releasing a minuscule amount of my draconic aura. Once that was done, I used a bit of the power from Arc of Embodiment to add some details to the Boosted Gear. 

After the modifications, my left hand, all the way to my elbow, was covered in the red gauntlet but instead of it being spiked it now had a sleek design with a smaller green gem in the middle of my left hand and at the far end of it, near the top of my elbow, respectively. Instead of golden spikes, they are now small golden gems outlining the gauntlet in a rune-like pattern. The top of the gauntlet is still scaled, but a red dragon with black outlined scales is now carved out of it, with its mouth pointing towards the claws of the gauntlet. They are still razor-sharp claws, but they can be compacted to form a fist and fight bare-handed if needed. Now it looks more practical and cool. Phew, looks like Ddraig didn't notice, probably too shaken by the sudden awakening. 

(What the hell happened? I was in a trance, then everything went blank, did I just wake up? Are you my new host, kid?)

(Ohhh, I could feel your rumbling voice inside of my soul. Indeed, my name is Ryu Ichijou. Nice to meet ya, partner!)

(Interesting! You're human? At least part human. You seem to know of me! Wait, what is this connection? I seem to have my original power too! What luck!)

Before I knew it, Ddraig started roaring and celebrating their rekindled power. I could feel my whole being vibrating to their roars, and then the heat they were emitting started to boil up my blood, though it felt warm and comfortable for me. 

(Uhm, seems like you get the jist of what happened right?)

(Hmm, that I did. Seems like you know of my secret already.)

(That you're a musclehead? )

(Not that one! That one is obvious, for I know that brute strength dominates all. )

(Uhhh huh.)

(Don't just act like you're some kind of master of finesse!)

(Let's move on, I'm sure you must have some questions for me.)

(Ugh, so you chose to ignore me, the Dragon of Domination. Fine. Have it your way. So you seem to have some familiarity with me, some respect, and wait, is that pity I feel through our connection? Why is that? More importantly, is it true, will I be able to get stronger?)

(Indeed, you will be able to rise in power through the effort you exhibit, I think there might be some items that will also help. I think at some point we'll be able to do something about your soul and a body of your own but that's a long time project. You will have to wait until I get some authority (Divinity) over life and creation or maybe I could get something from the shop. So for now, it's not possible but it will be in the future.)

(Ahahahaha!! Good, as long as there is a possibility to live freely once again, I will TAKE it! The Red Dragon Emperor of Domination shall appear in the world soon!! I'll even be able to become even stronger than that bastard Albion!! Don't worry, now that we're bonded together I'll wait as long as it takes!)

(Seems you're enjoying the news. Perhaps fate really wants me to fight the White Dragon Emperor huh.)

After a couple of hours, or was it more? I'm not sure, but Ddraig still hasn't said anything. Ohh it's still the first season. But a reaction is still needed, right?

As soon as that crossed my mind, I heard a resounding crack from my left arm. It was so loud it reverberated all across my aura and even managed to shake Jibril, though she just kept reading while caressing the ring. The green sphere that lights up whenever Ddraig talks- though right now his voice is inside my mind it still lights up had a huge crack while the second sphere had only a couple. I worked hard on that… it's easily fixable though.

It was that bad huh? 

(Wha… Wha… What is t-this… Hey, this is just fake, right? Tell me this is all fake. Ohhh, I'm still dreaming huh? Yeah, that must be it. That humongous arrogant ass must've trapped me in one of his dreams. He succeeded it seems. This is ...a nightmare. Can… I get out now…?)

Ah… it broke him. He's escaping reality and blaming it on Great Red huh? Though I feel secondhand embarrassment for him, I can also literally feel my dragon blood boiling. 

The dragon blood inside of me is strongly rejecting the idea of one of my own brethren falling so low with no remaining pride as a dragon anymore. It's already starting to affect me huh? I anticipated this, but my bloodline hadn't even fully awakened. From Heavenly Dragon to Oppai Dragon… 

I gotta return him to reality already.

(As much as I want it to be a dream as well. It is 100% real. Though it may have been your fate in the show or maybe in another reality, you now have me as a host. No longer will you bear that shameful title.)

(Hmmm? Ah… Ah... You're Right!! My savior!! I was too caught up on my Dragon of Domination Title becoming Boobs Dragon. I will gladly help you on your road to power! Though thinking about it again, you will surpass me given time, so is there really a need for my power?)

(I truly do need you. I believe having you is a part of the 'World's Will' plan. It needs a hero so to speak, to prevent calamity from befalling it. Kind of like a representative, avatar, or champion fighting for it to survive. Maybe I'm thinking too highly of myself, as in being the protagonist, but hey it might be a good reason for you being in my possession. Plus having a Loginus, the Boosted Gear at that, will help my standing in the supernatural world. Not to mention the idea that you'll be stronger as a consequence of my unique existence.)

(Ohhh, it seems my host is thinking ahead. Good. I will gladly stand by your side! The world will once again know why I am called the Red Dragon Emperor of Domination, and I'm sure you will gain a worthy title once you rise in power!)

I take a peek at Jibril and sure enough she is staring straight at me, though it's a stare filled with unbridled joy. I smile back at her and once again turn my attention to the orb or rather the voice booming in my head or is it my soul? Well, I hear him inside of me basically. Looks like he can either project it inside my head or outside for others to hear.

(I kept myself from commenting, but yes your Dragon Blood is even purer than my own! And I'm a Heavenly Dragon! Hmm, indeed, now that I am actively probing the connection I can feel a human, an angel? No something stronger and far more demonic than even devils! The final one…?!?! Ophis?! How is that possible!?)

(Ahaha that's the normal reaction huh? The human is my soulmate, Ayaka Suzuki. The angel, or rather the correct race name is Flugel, is Jibril, someone I summoned and bound to my soul while the bond with Ophis was purely accidental or coincidental since it was partially due to the immediate binding of your soul to mine. So you indirectly bound me to Ophis. Though it seems to not be a proper bond...)

(A Dragon God… the Ouroboros Dragon… the Dragon of Infinity… was bound to him indirectly by me. I caused this even if it was indirectly… And then he summoned a being on par with me, a Heavenly Dragon… I even think she's capable of holding off a Dragon God… What the hell!!)

(Deep breathes Ddraig, deep breathes. Kinda surprising how affected you are by this. Jibril is someone special to me and incredibly loyal… while Ophis does not yet know of our connection… I think. Well she hasn't appeared yet so nothing to worry about, right?)

(Easy for you to say! What an unbelievable host! I really got stuck with someone who breaks common sense huh? Fine with me though! Hahahahah!! )

I add an ability that mosaics my face for enemies while allies are able to see my face. This way Shuri and Akeno can see me while I keep my identity a secret from the enemies. 

Finally done with preparations, I let myself be carried by Jibril as we used her mode of teleportation this time. And before I knew it we were off.
