4 Chapter 4 Any questions for our next member?

"I see. Could you please follow me to this room?"

The doors opened and he would crack an overdone joke. Issei left it out though.

The place was largely Victorian-style. Issei found it was rarely to his liking but he could live with the whole thing. Desks around where the Council could work on while he was sure that he could smell water.

Was someone brewing tea?

In the front was one large desk where Sona took a seat. On the other side was another seat.

"Take a seat." She pointed at the one standing while the other lady, Issei didn't catch her name just yet, stood behind her.

"Thank you." Slinging his backpack from his shoulders, the young man sat down. His eyes were circling around and his nose was breathing in. The distinct sent of a Dragon lingered around. Not Ddraig, that was for damn sure.

He would think of someone else. His scent let him think of something else. Vritra? Maybe. He would have to ask his partner who laid asleep in his arm.

"Now, can I ask you a few questions?" Sona wasn't letting up so he would be polite but not charming.

"Sure thing. Ask right away."

"I read in your information. You came from Hokkaido." Issei nodded to her. It was something that he kept hidden.

"I lived in Hokkaido. With my uncle. Originally, I'm from here. I moved in there because my parents were moving around a lot. During the holidays, we would often be in Italy." He had to find a link to the land of pizza and wine.

"Italy? Where exactly?" Sona asked, hoping that it wasn't Rome. That would be too dangerous.

"Sienna. A small place around Florence. They got the best ice cream I ever had." Sona raised an eyebrow in that regard. She wasn't a sweet tooth but she could ask around.

"I see. So why did you come back here?"

"When the heart calls you home, you have to answer it." That glare made it clear that she wasn't pleased with that.

"This is one of the only two places that I have known as home. Hard to go somewhere else. And well, when I heard that this school went coed. I found that a good reason to come here. Didn't have to waste time on commute." Sona had seen his grades.

They weren't exceptional but he got through and never had too many problems.

"I see. Well, in that case. I see no reasons to keep you here. Tsubaki, could you escort him to his classroom?" Issei looked back at her.

Tsubaki, so that was her name. Pretty one as well.

"Of course."

"Issei Hyoudou. I am president of this school because I love this place. If there is something that you want to talk about or you need me for, my door is always open." Issei nodded to her.

"I'll be sure to keep it in mind, thank you, Shitori-Kaichou." With that, Issei walked off next to Tsubaki.

Sona sat back in her seat. Issei's story checked out on many levels. Plus, he wasn't drooling over her. His eyes weren't wandering but they kept to her face. Polite, and he didn't have any magic on him. She was certain that he was good.

Yet, her guts were telling her a different story. So she could wait and see how that turned out. If Issei proved to be of value, she would let Rias go first. Her best friend needed that more than she did.

Scene change

Just like before, the walk is quiet to the place. Issei didn't mind it one bit that they kept quiet. He would look around and found that it was good enough for him. Eventually, they ended up at his class 2 C.

"This is the classroom. As Sona-Kaichou said, if you need anything, don't be a stranger." Issei nodded to her but his soft grin meant something else.

"Meh, I have always been on my own. I'll be fine but if I need help, I'll be sure to ask you. Thank you, senpai." And with that, Tsubaki walked off. Issei found that she was nice to a degree. Not fully his type but still.

Then he knocked on the door. Long black hair with a friendly expression opened it.

"Ah, Issei Hyoudou-kun?"

"Speaking too."

"I'm Yamegara-sensei. Your homeroom teacher. Please come in." Only in the class, it was clear now that the school was a former-only girls school.

There were only around four guys and from those four, one showed a friendly smile to him. Issei returned it with a polite nod. That guy was a Devil. A [Knight] maybe. He just wasn't sure.

"Okay, class. This is Issei Hyoudou. Go ahead."

"Issei Hyoudou. I'll be in your care." The student went back while he looked the group over. There were some girls already eyeing him up. Rarely he was as grateful as right now that he had good training under his belt.

"Hyoudou, if I wasn't mistaken, you lived aboard, right?"

"Hokkaido. But my roots lie here. Although I doubt I remember my elementary school buddies." The sheepish look made him a bit cuter if she was honest. But the lady shook her head.

"Any questions for our next member?"

"What are your impressions of the school?"

"What are your hobbies?"

"What is your relationship status?"

"Can you please die? We have enough pretty boys already in this school." The asker of that question was smashed by a piece of chalk and Issei would never get on Yamegara-sensei.

"I find it okay so far. I like being outside and driving, earned my license, I am single so far and dying doesn't fit in my schedule."

"Alright, if that is everything. There is only one spot open." That was on the front of the classroom. There went his daydreaming. It could give his brain some work to do. He had been challenged before.

Scene change

Issei found that school had certainly changed compared to his younger years.

Nothing that he couldn't handle. At least, there was enough eye candy for him. Girls were looking all over him. But there were limits to have far Issei would piss off the guys. So when the day went by, Issei walked outside. There was a part of him that was glad about the hot weather.
