23 Chapter 23

That day, he went out to walk the streets of this "Kuoh Town" in search of the necessary items to live comfortably in his new shelter. A spacious bed, a wardrobe, clothes for Yue, and other amenities.

Of course, Yuu had no way to "buy" these items conventionally.

Instead of acquiring them, it would be more accurate to say that he took them without permission or payment. An action that society would consider theft, a violation of its laws.

But from his perspective as a millennial being with a mindset very different from that of these moralistic humans, such concepts were unimportant.

After gathering everything he needed, he took the opportunity to walk with Yue and show her around Kuoh Town. An instructive tour of the streets and curiosities of this world.

The day passed quickly and soon another day dawned. They left the Serenitea Pot dimension early to continue their exploration.

"Where are we going...?" Yue lifted her big crimson eyes to him with a questioning gesture.

"Mm. We're going to a restaurant. I'm taking you on a date."

Of course, in theory, he should go to the academy where he had enrolled under his fake identity. But he no longer needed to keep up the charade.

After confirming that he was in the "High School DxD" universe, Yuu saw no reason to waste any more time attending classes. He would only go there when he had to interrupt the plot.

"A date...?" Yue's eyes widened in surprise at his casual remark. "You mean you want to ask me out?"

She could feel her sudden excitement at the prospect. The petite vampire was more than familiar with the concept of a romantic "date", although she had never experienced anything like it in her life.

In her previous world as princess and then queen, romance had never been a priority. Not for lack of suitors, but simply because she was not interested.

However, from the experiences her servants had gossiped about, Yue was well aware of the meaning and implications of a "date". That is to say. Yuu saw her that way...?

A small smile crossed Yuu's lips when he noticed the blush on her cheeks. He nodded reassuringly as he stroked her golden hair.

"Well, you could look at it that way."

There was no reason to deny her enthusiasm.

He took her tiny hand between his, and with a simple gesture, they teleported into a dark alleyway, away from the prying eyes of humans.

Once out of the alley, they made their way to one of the local restaurants. Of course, even though it was a simple establishment, Yuu chose one that was luxurious enough to please Yue in her new experience in this world.

The clinking of glasses and the murmur of conversation filled the atmosphere as they entered the restaurant. From one side, Yue's crimson eyes scanned every detail with interest, but not for the presence of the diners around them.

After being betrayed by her own family, there was no other being in existence that the little vampire would place her interest in, let alone trust.

Instead, her attention was focused on judging the quality and luxury of every object and surface. Even though she was royalty on her homeworld, she stood in awe of the splendor of the cups, plates, and the very construction of this restaurant.

'Mm. As Yuu said.... This world is very advanced.'

Letting her gaze wander, she pointed to a table by the bay window:

"How about this table...?"

"Sure. We can-"

Yuu nodded and suddenly something bumped against his chest. A young girl with long, dark hair had just bumped into him.

Her cheeks flushed pink as their eyes met, and an apology flowed from her crimson lips:

"I-I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

Her voice was sweet and hesitant as she gave a slightly embarrassed bow. From the uniform she wore, one could deduce that she was a student from a high school outside of Kuoh Academy.

"No problem, be more careful." Yuu replied dryly, giving her a barely disinterested look before continuing towards the table.

What Yuu didn't notice was the young woman's violet eyes studying them up and down as they left. Yue, on the other hand, made a small grimace of displeasure, but chose not to comment as the waiter led them to their table by the bay window.

Once they were seated, Yuu slid his gaze over at her with a slight smile.

"See anything you like on the menu? Order whatever you're most in the mood for."

'I'm not paying for it anyway...'

Yue ordered a burger, a teriyaki plate, the shiny rice balls, the sushi rolls, and finally an exquisitely decorated cake that looked like it had just come out of a shop window.

"They look delicious..."

While Yuu settled for a juice and a burger, Yue greedily attacked her portion. Her eyes widened with each bite, and devoured the food with increasing pleasure.

However, as much as she enjoyed these delicacies, deep down, Yue knew that if she had to choose between these dishes and Yuu's golden blood, she wouldn't hesitate for a moment to choose the latter. Just the thought of it made her mouth water.

"Oh, here."

Yuu wiped the trickle of saliva that slid down the corner of Yue's lips with a finger, completely ignoring the almost hungry look with which the little vampire devoured him as if he were a juicy piece of meat fresh from the oven.

Meanwhile, the beautiful young woman who had just met Yuu was watching them from a nearby table.

Under the table, she was clenching her fists and digging her nails into her palms. Seeing her target being so affectionate towards the girl made her insides churn.

'Keep it up, you idiot. Enjoy your last moments of happiness.'

Still, meeting him at this place was a real coincidence.

'My main target is Issei Hyoudou... but this guy is also on the wanted list.'

That individual who had suddenly appeared in Kuoh Town, arousing the suspicion of the supernatural beings. Yuu Izumi.

At first glance, he looked like an ordinary human with nothing out of the ordinary. There was no hint of a powerful aura or unusual abilities.

And yet...

Something about him felt out of place, almost imperceptible but definitely there. Like a vast ocean hidden beneath a calm surface.

'He's human... isn't he?'

If she hadn't bumped into Yuu by accident, she wouldn't have even noticed. It was as if a higher power was jealously hiding his existence from the world.

'I should kill him right now... so that I can concentrate on my other goal.'

This was the world they lived in. They sought to eliminate those who, though insignificant in appearance, might in time become a threat. Mere chicks today, but phoenixes reborn from the ashes in the future. It was better to nip them in the bud.

And this rule did not only apply to Yuu, but also to Hyoudou Issei.

The black-haired girl had been assigned to seduce that student and check if he really possessed a Boosted Gear.

The mere fact that he carried that artifact created by the hand of God made him a much more worrisome existence than Yuu.

And at the thought of that, the woman felt an unsettling sensation as if a sharp scythe was resting on her neck. Yes, she suddenly felt terribly uncomfortable.

'I need to make preparations in case something goes wrong...'

So she paid the bill, got up from the table and left the restaurant in a hurry. As she turned the corner into a lonely alley, she summoned a magic circle under her feet and instantly disappeared.
