5 Chapter 05: A Fool

Yuu coughed sardonically. He felt the "younger" part of him start to cringe at his words.

"By the way, President, thanks for the invitation, but I must ask... to what do I owe the pleasure of this pleasant meeting?"

"Ah, yes." Sona adjusted her glasses on her small nose and held out her hand. Tsubaki handed her a piece of paper, and she took a quick look at it before she continued. "Izumi-kun, according to your academic record, you should be in the third year. However, you repeated the second year because you missed a year and a half. Can you explain the reason for your absence?"

She finished her report and placed the paper on the desk. She waited for his answer while she crossed her fingers under her chin.

Yuu took a breath and leaned back against the chair, keeping a serene expression on his face.

"Hah~, the life of a wanderer like myself has been quite an adventure. I've traveled through the stars, stepped on alien worlds, danced with cosmic whales..." He began to gesticulate vigorously, lost in his fantasy.

"Some philosophers from Venus had started a rebellion and only I, the almighty Yuu, could stop them. Then I had to travel to the planet Vegeta to take care of some crazy gods who wanted to dominate the galaxy."

"But when I decided to land for a while, I found out that I had lost a whole year in space. So here I am, trying to catch up on my studies."

Sona and Tsubaki exchanged skeptical glances. Who in their right mind would believe such a story?! Noticing this, Yuu feigned a pout.

"You don't believe me? I swear that I told you the truth! I even helped destroy entire civilizations with my bare hands!" He waved his hands in the air to emphasize his point.

Despite his efforts, Sona remained impassive. Tsubaki seemed to be holding back her laughter. Looking defeated, Yuu slumped his shoulders with a sigh.

"It's okay, it's okay. The truth is, last year, I decided to take a little trip."

Sona and Tsubaki sighed. Finally, this guy was getting serious...

"First, I went to Mount Everest, where I climbed to the top with one hand tied behind my back. Then I swam across the Arctic, skydived over the Grand Canyon, and met a polar bear who turned out to be my childhood friend."

He pretended to look at the tea with dreamy eyes. The girls still didn't believe a word of it. The question was, who would believe it?!! Although this was more acceptable than his first story....

"Please take this seriously, Izumi-kun. We need the real reason for your absence from school to update your records."

"But it's true!" Yuu continued to fake excitement. "I even met a baby dragon in Iceland and adopted it as a pet. Of course, a dragon is nothing but a winged lizard compared to the thousand-year-old soul mate waiting for me in Tibet. We spent a passionate summer together before we parted ways."

Sona shook her head, pursed her lips, and tried to keep her composure. But even she had a few bulging veins on her forehead. And her lips trembled from time to time.

Yuu's story was getting more and more absurd!

"Then I went to Antarctica to look for elephant-headed sharks. I thought they would make good lucky charms." Yuu continued, crossing his legs. "But I got bored and decided to go back and finish school."

Sona snorted in annoyance. "Izumi-kun, please. It's obvious that you're lying."

"Are you sure? Aren't you curious to know what other heroic deeds I have performed?" Yuu was tempted to add even crazier details.

He knew that his outlandish story wouldn't fool anyone, but at least he was having fun.

"Okay, let's drop it. Just promise me that you'll try to make up for the lost year."

Sona sighed, she'd given up! With that foolish boy, you could never tell when he meant what he said.

"Anyway, is there anything else you need from me, President? I don't want to entertain you with my stories anymore."

He still had the nerve to ask, when in fact he never answered anything! Sona rubbed her forehead. Dealing with a fool like this boy was not easy for her. Now she regretted bringing him here in the first place.

Still, Sona kept her expression professional. "For now, that's all, Izumi-kun. You are dismissed. Thank you for your time."

Yuu stood up and bowed with a hand on his chest. "It's always a pleasure to talk to two beautiful ladies like you. So long!"

Yuu left the student council room with a smile. Just as he had intended. So that they would take his extravagant exploits as lies.

Well... they were lies.

If he told his true exploits, he doubted even the gods would believe him!

Sona put the report aside and clasped her hands in deep thought. On the surface, her interest in Yuu had been a mere excuse to fulfill her duty as student council president.

However, as the heiress of the Sitri Clan, one of the most powerful devil clans in the Underworld, her perception was sharp as a hawk. Ever since Yuu's mysterious appearance in Kuoh, she had been unable to stop keeping a close eye on him.

Her role went beyond simply leading the student council. By coming to the human world to gain experience and fulfill her wish in the future, she and Rias Gremory took on the responsibility of protecting Kuoh Academy from any supernatural threats.

A stranger who came out of nowhere was suspicious by default.

That stranger was Yuu. No record, no family, out of nowhere. This aroused her demonic instinct.

That was why she had invited Yuu to the student council room to study him first hand.

Nevertheless, aside from his incomparably handsome appearance that even the gods could not rival, his personality become more and more perplexed and peculiar.

When they first met, he had shamelessly flirted with her queen, Tsubaki, like a playboy. Then he had turned into a scholarly green tea expert. To end up raving like a fool about stories that even your grandmother wouldn't believe

Sona sighed in frustration while peering through the window of the student council room. Tsubaki, who was busy organizing some documents, glanced up with curiosity.

"I still can't figure out Yuu. He's like a thousand piece puzzle." Sona said.

After a few minutes...

"Kaichou, I brought you some green tea, just the way you like it." Tsubaki said and left the cup on the table.

Sona nodded slightly without looking up. "Thank you." She picked up the cup and took a sip. Tsubaki knew this was the time to talk about something that was on her mind.

"I don't know if you know, Kaichou, but I've heard that the Occult Research Club is also after that new student, Yuu." She commented while pouring her own cup. "They say he suddenly appeared with no background."

Sona put down the cup and replied calmly. "That's because he doesn't have one. I have personally investigated him and there is no record of him before he appeared here."

Tsubaki raised an eyebrow. "That's very suspicious, Kaichou."

"Of course. That's why I brought him here." Sona said. "His behavior was... peculiar."

"Ah yes, I remember." Tsubaki laughed softly. "He went from shamelessly flirting to commenting on the tea. Then he seemed like a real clown."

Sona raised the cup to her lips again to hide a slight smile. "Don't underestimate him. It could have been an act."

"So you think he's hiding his true intentions?" Tsubaki asked, leaning forward. "I've examined him before, but he's no different than an ordinary human."

"No doubt. Although he doesn't have the aura of a supernatural being, he doesn't have the aura of a human either. A person who doesn't have an aura... it's as if he doesn't exist at all. It's abnormal for a human." Sona replied with concern in her tone. "I'll have to keep a closer eye on him."

"Count me in, Kaichou." Tsubaki said seriously. "I will do my best to examine him discreetly."

Sona nodded firmly to Tsubaki when a voice suddenly echoed in her head.
