20 The Heart Lineage I

It has been two months since I arrived, and as much as I love to spend time with Richter-sama in this realm, I think it is time for me to visit some type of civilisation to at least understand what type of world we're living in.

His affection for me kept increasing just as we continued to talk to one another and coexist in this desolate realm, upon reaching his main cave he told me that there were more than a hundred underground caves in this complex which deeply astounded me, he also said that I hadn't even gone through the biggest ones by far.

It looks like I would spend some dear time cleaning all this mess, 'Just as I want it!~'

Everything was perfect until a new task started from the system.

'What is that evolution thing, Demon Goddess?' and what does the six mean?' I didn't even understand, I'm a devil, not a demon.

I tilted my eyebrow at the notification, why is it so formal out of a sudden?

'To become his maid? that is what I desire as well… but how? you could say… am I not his maid already? I'm cleaning his place. But it is merely my self-imposition, he hasn't accepted me as his servant or anything' I sighed inwardly.

Would he tell me no if I asked him by now? I've been trying to not bother him too much. The first thing I know about my master-to-be is that he loves sleeping.

'That lazy dragon' I giggled stupidly, finishing yet another cave.

'He's sleeping right now… I want to cook something for him' That was my wish, but the only thing I could possibly prepare was golden soup by stirring golden powder into golden hot water.

'This world is ridiculous…' Perhaps due to the marvel of it being covered in gold, I was surprised and awed at first. But after having spent so long here, I realised it is just a wasteland, after all, one filled with corpses no less.

'Should I ask him to take me out once he wakes up? I need to reach civilisation one way or another; not only that but where exactly am I to get clothes that don't transform into gold? that is going to be complicated' I looked at my maid attire, I loved it but wanted a different colour that combined with gold.

His eyes were red so, maybe red, 'Will he like it?'

I blushed and shook my head, trying to get over the crush phase, I'm not a little girl anymore, this much I can bear!

I went to his side and found him sleeping in his dragon form, there was this breeze in his cave, it was full of vitality, something odd considering that his cave is one of the deepest ones, air shouldn't reach this area.

He seemed to be so comfortable that I decided against waking him up for now.

Instead, I headed to the surface.

The world look just like the last time, but this time I wasn't afraid for my life. This has become my home.

'What can I do to make it better?'

I would plant trees if they could survive, but they won't.

Releasing a sigh I looked army the sun in the skies and got an idea.

It took me several hours to materialise it. But slowly and surely the three frozen pyramids began turning into gold, just like I recall them.

'Hehe~' I giggled to myself wondering what his reaction would be.

Something was missing so I blasted the top of the smallest one and formed the silhouette of a dragon, resembling him quite a bit. It was difficult to mould the shape, but my expertise with ice allowed me to do it.

'Let me see your reaction later~'

After organising and transforming one of the caves in what looked like a prestigious museum, I headed to the main cave where Richter was, surely slumbering.

'Lazy dragon, it is time to wake you, you have slept too much'.

Upon reaching the main cave with steady steps, I caught sight of him.

He was there sleeping in his gigantic dragon form, this cave could barely contain his body and by request, this was the only cave that I didn't organise.

Those piles of treasures are his 'bed'.

Apparently, mas- *cough* Richter-sama… likes to slumber on top of his treasures like this so there is nothing I can do to convince him to sleep on a bed like a normal person. He's not a 'person' to begin with, but a Dragon God.

"Richter-sama…" I tried to wake him up, he's a Dragon God, if he falls asleep, does it mean I'm going to have to wait a few centuries until he wakes up!? no way, I can't wait that much.

"..." Silence was what answered my enquiry.

I approached and managed to touch his skin softly, 'It is not rough at all, it is like touching polished gold'.

"Richter-sama…" I whispered longingly.

"..."

The Dragon's eye opened and looked in my direction with reproach, unhappy over my annoyance dare I assume.

"Grayfia, why do you end my slumbering, how long has it been?"

I didn't know what to say, really, why did I wake him up? 'Is it because I don't have any other way to reach civilisation… or… do I like his companionship?' the more I thought about it, the more clear the answer was.

To learn more from him, to tell him more about me. I wanted to know my master more… or at least, the dragon that would be my master. However, the prideful me wouldn't allow those words to come out just yet, being dishonest was an easy pass forward.

"I merely want you to check that all your treasures are in place, aren't you trusting me too much?" I said with a dishonest smirk, letting him know that I don't covet his treasures is one of my desires.

"…I can immediately tell even in my slumber when my treasures are leaving this realm… very well, you still have a hundred years to go." His words were as lazy as ever, only he could spend that much time sleeping.

Instead of feeling imprisoned and despair, that quantity gave me hope… a hundred years is a lot of time.

"...?" I saw a notification appear all of the sudden in the system, my eyebrows tilted in confusion, a bunch of characters that I couldn't understand.

'System?'

[Objective: Take Richter out of the Treasury Realm for a whole day].

[Reward: Devil Fruit - Hie Hie no Mi]

I decided to ignore those characters, something odd must have been happening on that end, but no matter how much I asked, the system didn't answer me.

'Ah, but I already have an active task? moreover, what is a devil fruit?!' I'm starting to understand this system less and less. However, I imagine those tasks are created with the purpose to support me conquer his heart, right?

This must be an easy task if I'm only being given fruit as a reward. It didn't matter, I do plan to leave this realm temporarily and desire to take him along anyway.
