Asgardium Leviosa

Child of Shadow

Chapter 5 - Asgardium Leviosa

By theMadLad

"One more thing son." Lugh spoke to me as I was about to leave, intent on visiting Asgard before heading out on a journey.

"Yes?" I asked in confusion.

"That trick you did with the runes was ingenious, but keep in mind that the runes can only be as powerful as the gods they draw their power from." He replied informatively, wanting to warn me.

I, of course, knew this already, but he must have had a reason to tell me. This was also one of the reasons my strength had plateaued, unlike in some other franchises where runes were the embodiment of concepts—in this world, they drew power from the domains of the various Norse Gods.

…Which was very disappointing.

That's why it was difficult to overtly rely on them entirely, as they could never exceed the divine aura of the gods they originated from—which was not good, as not only did the Norse Gods have an extremely lack of faith in this era, but also a good amount of them just weren't strong.

Fuck, I had the confidence to kill a decent amount of them. Which while extremely arrogant, was not exactly a lie.

My Sacred Gear might not be very powerful, with even my Balance Breaker being rather weak—but that was never my intention with it in the first place, I didn't strive for power in it, but versatility. I didn't desire a trump card, but rather another addition to my comprehensive strength.

While killing a God is an astronomical feat usually, it is entirely possible when against gods with no combative domains—especially with the lack of faith towards most 'pagan' gods. These gods were around Ultimate Class.

…The same class I was in—and when taking into account my level of skill, ability to use fighting spirit (touki), magical capability, and sacred gear, a fight with one of them would honestly be in my favor.

I wasn't like Issei who had to power up constantly in order to reach his full strength, my skills were comprehensive and ready for use at any time.

"What do you remember about that technique?" Lugh asked, breaking me from my thoughts while referring to my predecessor's killing blow. I dredged up the memories of the battle between Cú Chulainn and Connla, only to come up somewhat short. That part of the battle was especially intense, with Connla distracted with the revelation that the man he was fighting was his father distracting him.

…But I did see the technique, and understood it as well. That's what I had tried to recreate after all, hell—I even used inspiration from the Fate Series' Cú Chulainn!

"You instantly struck my heart while freezing me in place, making both an unblockable and unmissable attack—which struck my heart while releasing the spiked barbs into my body, guaranteeing a lethal blow." I spoke informatively with a hand to my chin in focus as I recalled the memory.

Lugh flinched slightly at my words before replying, "Yes, but did you see me perform the technique?"

Huh.

"…No, I did not." I replied, and wasn't that a strange realization.

Lugh nodded as if my words were expected, "I thought so. This is the reason I brought up the runes, while your technique might guarantee a kill for most creatures—those powerful enough can just directly ignore the effects."

Damn, that sucks.

"…But, hope is not all lost." He continued before reaching into his pocket and flicking something over to me, which I caught as he continued to explain, "That is a rune stone, you can use it to find the various portals to the Otherworld through their use. When you finish reforging the spear, come to me… and I will teach you the Gáe Bolg's greatest technique."

—————————

Rossweisse watched as her hero—Connla, she meant Connla—not her hero… yet. She blushed at the thought as she watched Connla finish speaking words to his father, with them parting ways after Lugh gave him some item.

"So, have you decided to come with us?" Lord Odin said to Connla from beside Rossweisse, causing her to slightly jump up in surprise as her head crashed back down from the clouds.

Connla smirked in response, bringing butterflies to Rossweisse's stomach with it. But even that didn't compare to the feeling his next words gave as his eyes stared into hers, "If there are beauties with even half the looks of this one here, then how could I refuse?"

U-uwah—!

Rossweisse.exe crashed.

…When she came to, a conversation between Odin and Connla had already been ongoing for some time, "Haha, poor Rossweisse was unable to make any friends, so I took pity on her and made her my maid."

T-to directly admit it! How could you, Lord Odin?!

She turned towards Connla, nervous at his reaction, "Oh, such an easy catch, I like how you move Odin—you have my admiration!"

Odin's eyes twinkled with mirth as Connla's face had a light smile that seemed to reciprocate his reaction. But that wasn't what Rossweisse cared about, she didn't want him to think low of her—as after all these years, she actually had a chance! And sure enough, Connla seemed not to care about her dark history, causing Rossweisse to sigh in relief.

He really was her hero.

Now she just needed to become his Valkyrie!

…Maybe Lord Odin wasn't so bad afterall, perhaps she could ask for help to seduce Connla? M-maybe ask to have him stay with her when he comes to Asgard?

Y-yes that could work! Rossweisse puffed out her chest in pride from her idea, she would definitely lose her Virgin Valkyrie title in this way!

"Did you see that just now? How her boobs jiggled as she puffed out her chest, they're massive aren't they?" Odin spoke with a lustful undertone as his face seemed to resemble that of an ape, with only the instinct of a beast!

Black lines appeared on her forehead from his words—she was ready to fight him to the death! She hid her breasts behind her arms as she prepared to attack with a red face and fierce pout when…

"…Y-yeah, they are pretty big."

E-eh, was that Connla's voice? W-well, if it's him…

Rossweisse slowly moved her hands back down, uncovering her breasts with a blush that was so intense it even ran down her neck.

"Just imagine after a long day fighting monsters, you come home and rest on those balloons. Sounds great right?" Odin spoke with a mischievous tone as he goaded Connla like a devil seducing its victim.

Rossweisse felt tingles run up her spine as she heard the intense and clearly audible gulp Connla gave in response to his words.

S-she couldn't do this, it was too much! Her heart couldn't handle it!

"Mou—! Stop teasing me!" She yelled out in outburst as her arms spread backwards, with her face making contact with Connla's while holding a fierce pout on her bright steaming face.

Odin burst into laughter as Connla looked towards her with a teasing smirk, "We can't help it when you make such cute reactions like that!"

C-C-C-cute?!

She was so happy from his words, that a bright smile so wide that it pained her cheeks appeared on her face. All her life she had been teased, but this was the first time it ever felt so sweet.

"Damn, now that's a face I could wake up to each morning."

Rossweisse.exe crashed once again.

—————————

Hahaha! It was so fun to tease her, not only were her reactions adorable, but I liked to see her happy as well.

Especially that smile.

Damn, it was a sexy smile, with perfect straight bright white teeth complimented by the attractive slight wrinkles in her eyes.

I held a soft and fond smile on my face as I heard the girl resting on my back start to give off obnoxious snores. The contrast was cute in its own way, so I didn't mind.

Earlier, it had seemed that our teasing had actually affected her so greatly, that she had a heat stroke! …I didn't even know that Valkyries could get heat strokes, so that was a surprise.

I was quick to carry her as she fainted, before taking her along with me as I followed Odin towards Asgard. And wasn't that cool to see? Odin slammed his wooden crutch to the ground, causing a portal to open up in front of us, with a rainbow bridge ready to lead us inside.

Odin glanced over my shoulder where Rossweisse was resting with a soft look before looking over towards me with a serious glint in his eyes, "She likes you alot kid, don't let her down."

Normally I would have merely smiled at his protective words while replying something like, "No worries, I quite like her too."…Which I would have meant, as I did find her extremely cute and I had quite liked her personality from what I've seen so far.

But considering the serious nature underlacing his words, I made sure to be firm in my answer—there was no turning back now, or I would lose the chance forever.

My reply would likely seal our future together in some way, as turning him down or giving him a vague answer would only add tension to our relationship, as well as negatively impacting any future prospects I had with her.

Odin was a wily old fox at this moment, not only tying me to his pantheon, but also securing my allegiance to Rossweisse, who I assume he saw as a sort of surrogate daughter—truly showing his worth as a God of Wisdom.

But I was not one to be indecisive in any way, I could have thought of the repercussions of our relationship or what being tied to Asgard really meant—but I didn't care. I liked this girl, and I wanted her—that was all that mattered.

…And I'm sure Odin knew that.

So with a decisive and firm nod, I answered his implied words without hesitation, "Of course I won't, I'm her hero after all."

Odin then patted me on the shoulder with a grin before sauntering off across the Bifrost while leaving one last boisterous shout towards me, "Haha! I knew I wasn't wrong scouting you as a son-in-law!"

I blinked at his words, before quickly following behind with the shake of my head and a small grin.

…Missing the fact that Rossweisse's snores had long gone silent.

—————————

"Oh my! Is that Rossweisse on that guys back?!"

"Did she finally find a Hero!?"

"Hmph, he doesn't look too strong."

"W-well, I suppose he is a bit handsome!"

"Maybe, she owed him a debt and sold her body?"

"Y-yeah that had to be it!"

What the fuck? I had black lines over my forehead as I heard their words, I was even tempted to fight some to the death. Were they saying that, I, Connla, had no game and had to resort to prostitution?!

Odin snorted as saw my face, "Don't take them too seriously, you can prove yourself later. I'll even set up something of an exhibition match for you that could help you make connections."

…He seemed to misinterpret my anger, but I nodded regardless, content to let him misunderstand.

It all seemed that Rossweisse seemed to be breathing rather intensely, was she ok…? I was about to check, but it seemed we arrived at the destination.

"Here we are." Odin spoke as we stopped by a small, but well maintained cottage. It had a rather homely feel to it, and seemed to have plenty of wards protecting it as well.

"Isn't it about time you got off, Rossweisse?" Odin spoke with a teasing tone, which made me realize that she had been faking her sleep, not that I much minded.

"S-sorry, I just woke up!" She yelped as she jumped off me with a burning face. Yeesh, even I couldn't tell such a blatant lie if I tried. Odin just snorted before knocking on the door to the cottage, much to Rossweisse's growing horror as she seemed to realize where we were, "W-w-wait!"

"Coming!" An older voice yelled from inside before reaching the door and opening it, coming face to face with Odin, "—Oh, it's you."

It was an elderly woman with deep blue robes, who held a remarkably good posture for her age. She ignored her Chief God entirely and quickly scanned the area before laying eyes on Rossweisse with visible happiness, "G-granny."

"Oh, Rose you've come hom—!" She started to greet her granddaughter before suddenly pausing, and staring deeply at Rossweisse with intense focus… and, unfortunately for Rossweisse she gave herself away. Her gaze repeatedly traveling to me really didn't help as well, especially when added together with her bright red face and messy hair.

Her grandmother's eyes lingered over to me before going back to Rossweisse, soon enough her eyes began to go back and forth between us with rapid motion as she seemed to hit a sort of realization, "I-Impossible."

The elderly woman stuttered as she pointed towards me while staring at Rossweisse, "Y-you brought m-me a grandson-in-law?!"

Her grandmother squee'd out loud with high pitched excitement as everything hit Rossweisse all at once—the embarrassment, excitement, shame, and all.

Then, once again… Rossweisse.exe crashed.

Author's Notes

Damn, this should have come sooner but I was occupied with reading up on the light novel and deciding on what weapons I wanted to incorporate into Gáe Bolg. Finally decided, and got to say, the DxD Demon Swords are pretty shit.

So almost all of them are non-canon, but should at least be satisfactory. Yeah runes are nerfed, but not for too long as Rossweisse is here! So that will be a thing.

As for why Odin treats her more kindly when he pretty much abandoned her in canon, I felt there was enough evidence to stretch this. For example, Vidar is often compared to Odin, and in canon Vidar goes all the way to the extent of proposing a marriage to Rossweisse with the intention to force her to admit to getting together with Issei.

So with that in mind, I could see how Odin, with him being a pretty indirect person, as well as a god of wisdom and trickery, could abandon her with the intention of having her actually join Rias' group. So while a pretty shitty thing to do, it actually benefited her greatly in the long run.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter!
