Chapter 111

"I—uh…hello?" As always the voice of Gasper was meek and shy and yet the lack of the bag on his head showed his growth. In front of him was a boy around his age who didn't seem to care for anything that was happening around them.

The boy had spiky gray hair, lazy dark blue eyes, and an extremely normal outfit consisting of a lavender shirt with dark blue sleeves and blue shorts. He was a handsome boy but he wasn't one to catch many eyes for the right reasons.

Worse still was the fact that Gasper didn't even know anything about him. All he knew was that his partner was from the Sitri peerage and was their secret weapon. He didn't know a name or anything else and as a result, the silence was deafening.

"Sup." Leisurely popping the bubble gum bubble he had made Gasper's teammate was immediately listed in the 'difficult to talk to' category. He wasn't like Rias or Aika who were too energetic but instead much more like Koneko who was too blunt.

Lowering his head in dejection Gasper couldn't stop the tears of weakness that dripped from his eyes. However, those tears disappeared as quickly as they came when his attention was forced onto the wiggling space a few dozen meters away.

Humming in curiosity the bubble boy pointed his finger at the spatial oddity, Lightning coiling around his fingers a mere moment later before shooting off with the force of a rail gun. The sound of the superheated air popping momentarily defeated Gasper but he could see the boy's lips perfectly fine.

"Damn." That was all the boy said when his fearsome attack had done nothing against the wiggling space. Keeping his silence Gasper merely watched with bated breath, the shadows beneath the space rising in preparation.

It took a few minutes, precious minutes in which their allies were fighting for their lives, but eventually, it emerged. It seemed to be a normal human however it was odd to the extremes. It had hair as white as snow, skin as gray as England's skies, and a youthful face.

It was a muscular figure rivaling that of Sairaorg which didn't mesh well with his youthful face. It didn't matter who saw it, the appearance would be unique. Opening their eyes the odd man looked over his surroundings almost lazily yet his eyes were ferocious, predatory even.

"Oh? What talented youth. I can see why that traitorous son of mine would go so far." Even as the man spoke politely a malevolent energy emanated from him, cold sweat appearing on Gasper and his companion's brow.

The man was extremely powerful, so much so that even many chief gods would find themselves in fear upon receiving his aura. His words however were the worst part for what they implied could turn the entire operation on its head.

"So you're a geezer?" The sound of bubbles popping was quickly accompanied by the crackle of lightning as Gasper's partner abruptly became lightning itself. His gray hair had turned a bright white and his clothing fiercely glowed light blue.

Abruptly the roar of thunder echoed through the surroundings, a trail of light blue sparks remaining in the air. Turning his head as quickly as he could manage Gasper caught the tail end of his partner's hands sticking through his opponent's chest, beating heart in hand.

"Pops told me to kill you guys nicely." Squashing the heart into paste Gasper's partner kicked the titan's body away. Cleaning his hands of the blood and sticking his hands into his pocket the bubble boy slowly sauntered away.

"Get away!" Screaming in such a hurry that he didn't even realize that it could be seen as rude his partner didn't heed Gasper's words, his head leisurely tilted to the side to see what exactly the issue was.

"How quick. It was a sloppy finisher though Son of Storms." Standing as though nothing had happened the King of Titans Chronos flashed them an amused smile, one belonging to the type to treat the suffering of the people as entertainment. He was a man who saw those below him as nothing more than toys for him to discard as he pleased.

Calmly, slowly even, raising his hand Chronos' smirk widened to an unhealthy degree, his face split literally from ear to ear at his wide grin. Raising a cocoon of shadows around the both of them Gasper protected them, the insides transparent to keep their sight unobstructed.

"Hm? It's not coming?" Unlike the attack they expected however the Titan merely looked at his hand in amusement. Gasper didn't know what was going on but a feeling of relief he couldn't even understand washed over him. "No matter. I don't need it to deal with bugs."

As somebody with a substantial control over the flow of time Gasper felt it, he felt time slowing to crawl as it was commanded, ordered, and dominated, into a standstill. He couldn't move even a finger yet he knew what was coming.

That was why, the burning pain of his chest and legs being separated was not a surprise to him nor was the fact that his eyes were suddenly plucked out. It was painful, more painful than anything the dhampir had ever experienced, and he couldn't stop his screams.

"So these are the eyes that house Balor. That foolish tinkerer had some skill after all." Holding the eyes with interest Chronos took a moment to examine them, their unique pupils taking his attention for the time being.

For that reason, he didn't have time to stop the bolt of lightning that descended onto his body. It was tainted with the energy of death which permeated his body so little harm was done all things considered but the divinity of storms ravaged his body nonetheless.

A long crimson line crossed Gasper's teammate's chest, his torso only barely intact because of the feeble resistance Gasper managed to muster up before he was torn in half. Despite that, blood leaked from the so called Son of Storm's lips. He was on his last legs.

"So the Holder of Balor managed to save you. He's more impressive than I thought as well." It may sound like praise yet his sadistic eyes as he watched the eyes in his hand melt into black goo was anything but kind. He was glad they were strong only because it meant their screams would be better.

Turning his attention back to the origin of these eyes Chronos made it clear that he was amused at Gasper's feeble clinging to life. Dark shadowy tendrils connected his limbs together allowing his vampiric regeneration time to heal his form. It was smart but it was patchwork at best

"I'm going to enjoy breaking you." From the King of Titans, those words were horrifying, a premonition of disaster. Despite that, both Gasper and his partner stood strong, unbothered by his threat. If you ignored Gasper's tears that is.
