96 Chapter 96 City A

"That was fast." Alice whisled when I landed infront of her.

"Yeah, I was faster than I thought." I shrugged

"Are you ready to go?" I asked

"Yep." She said and transformed into her vampire form and flew into the air.

"Let's go then, I'll lead the way." I flew off in the direction of City A but I made sure not to fly too fast so that she could follow but, even with me consciously lessening my speed she still seemed to struggle keeping up with me. The gap between a tier 3 and 4 was that big. I consciously lowered lowered my speed even more until she seemed to be flying at a comfortable pace. We continued flying for an hour like this until we eventually reached our destination.

"It looks way better than City B." Alice commented when she saw the intact buildings and I couldn't help but nod my head. This place was in way better condition than City B was but I still wanted to check if there are any dangerous entities lurking in the city. I doubted I was the only person or creature to reach tier four since the start of this apocalypse, so we had to be vigilant for now until Alice evolves again. I spread my [Aura Vision] over the entire city but the next second I frowned.

"What's wrong?" Alice asked

"There's no one in the city." I replied

"So?" Alice asked with a raised eyebrow

"The last time I was here was around two weeks ago and this place was teeming with undeads. So where did all of them go, some of them should have turned into ghouls by now so why can't I sense anyone?" I said

"Maybe they left because no one was left in the city." Alice shrugged

"Maybe." I said but I didn't think it was that simple.

"Let's fly around the city and see if we can pick up anything." I said and flew off towards the city, followed behind by Alice. I enhanced my hearing with [Senses Manipulation] to far greater degree than before. I also activated [Demon Eyes] and I could see faint trails of red auras all over the place following them, I reached an area of the city where the building were destroyed but they didn't look normal.

"Are those buildings melted?" Alice asked, looking at the destroyed building and I was wondering the same thing. The buildings in the area looked partially melted with some of their structure still left standing and a brown liquid on the ground in small craters which I assumed was the melted parts of the building. At first I taught it was a fire user like me who did this but I quickly ruled it out as if it was, the brown liquid in the craters would have hardened already and the buildings would have exploded, not melted.

'Well, if it was a special kind of fire or a creature tier 4 creature probably.' I thought but that wasn't likely. If two tier 4 creatures fought here most, if not the entire would have been destroyed. I reactivated [Demon Eyes] and looked into the small craters and I could see a black substance mixed in with the brown liquid.

"Hey doesn't this kind of look like some poured a large amount of acid on the buildings? Like a really potent acid." Alice said as she dipped her finger in one of the craters.

"Yeah actually it does." I said and looked at the buildings again. I saw another faint trail of red aura leaving this area and decided to follow it. It led me to the edge of the city but on the way I spotted a few more trail going in the same direction which I found odd considering that we kill each other to get stronger so grouping up wouldn't make sense unless we were apart of the same family or had a contract with each other like Alice and I had.

"It seems you were right and whatever creatures were hiding here really did leave." I said to Alice.

"Let's find a place to stay before dawn." I said and we flew back into the city.
