7 Chapter 7: Army growth

When a person is so devoted to accomplishing something, they often forget about other things around them. When their main focus is concentrated on one thing, everything else is ignored. Of such things, one of them can be time.

As it flew by, the child did not notice that more than ten days had already passed. His full attention was stolen by his plans to improve the goblin race. As for the two goblins he created, they have also been forgotten. Luckily, though, the child was wise enough to make enough life-giving water to make a small pond around the dungeon core. So they had not died of hunger accidentally. Their lives have been monotonous as time has passed. But these two have found a new source of entertainment that will likely last them a very long time. So they did not disturb the child as they were preoccupied with their 'battles.'

Within the dungeon core are spherical diagrams made of shapes and different types of letters. The diagram was overall purple and had some red parts here and there. This diagram was, of course, the representation of the goblin core. This diagram maps the structure and development plant of the goblin. The purple parts of the diagram are the parts the child had already worked on. These parts are more or less complete, and there is no need to revisit them unless a new component clashes with them. The red parts, on the other hand, are placed where they are clashing with another component or are unable to properly function.

As of now, there are few changes happening in the red area. causing the red part to either spread or lessen. This has been happening for a while and is still happening now. But suddenly, the whole structure paused. Everything was no longer moving and shifting as it had before. The adjustments and fixes all stopped. Well, all but one little part. This part was small and looked a bit like a letter. It flew from the red part of the structure and changed just a little bit. It then flew right back into the structure. The moment it fell into its right place, the whole structure instantly turned blue. All the red and purple parts instantly changed to blue. signaling that there are no longer any conflicts or parts that need revision.

"Complete."

As the child said this word, the structure suddenly shrank. But from its small structure, a translucent image grew. It grew muscles and bones until it was a full organism.

"My new and improved goblin structure is now complete."

The translucent image was that of a green goblin. But unlike the usual 1-meter-or-less tall goblin, this one seemed to be about 1.4 meters or less. It had very sharp nails and even sharper teeth. The muscles were the biggest difference from the usual goblin, as this one looked like someone who frequents the gym. So both its arms and legs looked twice as big as usual.

"A goblin like this is likely to fight your average man without a problem.

The child, of course, could have liked to improve it more, but adding more improvements makes it harder to remove the errors that pop up due to these improvements. So for the time being, he has to be content with how it turned out.

There were minor and major improvements here and there. But regressions at some points. These regressions are parts he could not change or that popped up when he made other improvements. For instance, although the goblin was much stronger than the original, it still needed a lot of stamina to function. So it had short endurance and needed more than five times the normal energy to be in peak condition. The child did not know why, but the goblin was also dumber than the normal goblin. The child was confused; the stronger he made the goblin, the dumber its brain needed to be. He was not sure exactly why this was happening, so he just called it the law of brain vs. brawn. Luckily, though, the drop was not by too much; the new goblin was only about 10% dumber than a goblin. So overall, they were still much more effective than normal goblins.

But although he had completed his improved goblin, he was still not going to make one and let it out. The main reason was, of course, because the original goblin and the improved goblin might conflict. As these creatures looked a bit different, they may mistake each other as enemies of a different species and fight. Whichever side won in the end would be a loss to the child.

The other reason the child did not create the goblin was because of reproduction. Over the past ten days, although the child was not attentive to the two goblins, he was able to sense their conditions. In a dungeon, the very ether he introduces in the air is used as a medium for his senses. That means that wherever his Ether is, his senses can reach it. Because his ether is in the air, he was able to sense the ether the goblins either ingested or breathed in.

Through this ether, he was able to notice changes within the female goblin. He had thus concluded that the female goblin was pregnant. This means that he was right and that he should be able to produce lots of goblins through reproduction.

But if he were to make the new goblin, then the goblin would be unable to reproduce through the same method. Although he had changed the goblin such that it could function properly without conflict in its components, it was still not reproductively changed.

That means that its current reproductive organs can only create normal goblin sperm or eggs. So if two new goblins were to reproduce, the child would still end up as a normal goblin. That means that this new type of goblin could only be used as a muscle.

And as of now, he does not need muscle as he is in no danger. What he needs are effective army-making machines. Goblins that will spew out troops in either high quantity or high quality. The new goblin was thus useless.

What he needed to do now was improve the reproductive parts of the new goblin. If he does that, he will be able to make the improved goblins in batches, as long as they reproduce.

By the time he connects to a world, he will come out with goblins twice as strong as dungeons of the same level. This increases his safety when connected, thus allowing him to consume more third-order energy, thus effectively making him stronger faster!

The child had a new objective: improve the reproductive ability of the new goblin.

This was just like when he was making the new goblin, so it should take a long time. Before he wholeheartedly devoted his attention to changing this goblin, the child had an idea.

He willed his core and made it such that three new goblins could be made. All three goblins were female. This was done intentionally by the child in order for all three to be impregnated by the male goblin. In the reproductive game, the male goblin will only be useful for sperm donation. So there was no need for many sperm donors. Just one to impregnate the four females is enough.

Through this cheap way of thinking by the child, the only male goblin had accidentally gained a harem. successfully breaking the world record for the fastest harem made in anime history.
