1 Chapter 1: Dungeon●

The universe.

A large space of existence that supports billions of different life forms. It is the medium of life, death, and the existence of many and all within it.

Be the littlest ants or the largest of giants. The universe is the mother of all things that exist in it.

Today, this mother of all has once again bred a child. A child born different from his peers and beyond his elders. A child with potential even the gods would envy.

This child, however, was clueless about his own identity, as he was too preoccupied by the revelation that he had just received.

"So I have died?"

Was a question the child asked itself. But an answer was not needed, as the inherent knowledge in its head was hard to ignore. Coupled with the fact that he no longer felt any of his limbs, the child was forced to believe.

"I am no longer human."

As far as the child could remember, not longer than a few hours ago, he was human.

A child born like any other that grew into a young man no different from the rest

As far as the child could remember, not long ago he was a freshman in university. It was still a young man who was adjusting to university life. It was a simple life with a simple ending. A life that could not get any more regular than it already is.

Yet this life ended so shortly.

"I don't even know how it ended."

This was something that the child found confusing. He could remember most of how its previous life began but has not a single clue about how it ended.

"Oh well..."

Just like that, the child lost interest in hos previous life's mysteries. He felt no need to continue contemplating something that seemed to hold no attainable answer or use for the time being.

Of course, it was not that he did not care for what occurred in his previous life, but that his present life seems to require more of his attention.

"It's better to focus on the present than the past. Especially now since I need to focus on my survival."

For most creatures in the universe, newborn children are normally taken care of by their parents. Guided by their instincts, parents usually care for their children until they are able to fend for themselves. So the newborn children do not have to worry about safety until they are fully grown.

But there are other species that do not care for their children one bit. Once the eggs are deposited or laid, the parent will walk away, never to be seen again. Whether the child lives or dies would no longer be any of the parent's business.

Sadly for this child, his parents are of the latter type. Like an unwanted egg, he was deposited and left to fend for himself.

Luckily, though, in this life, he is born into a species without any natural predators. Many may hunt his kind from all across the universe, but rarely is it ever done to destroy or kill them. Most who do hunt them only wish to use them.

After all, who wouldn't want a dungeon?

One of the few living creatures in the whole universe who can traverse the chaos space without being affected by it. The only creatures in the universe other than natural worlds that can create ether without ascending to godhood They are loved for the treasures they have within and feared for the creatures that call them home. They are masters of creation but are only known for their destruction.

They are dungeons!

"Sigh."

The child let out a sigh. Although dungeons are rarely destroyed, many wish to instead enslave them. Be to use them as a personal space, grow an army, or even as a personal ship to cross the universe.

One must know that in this universe, the very laws seem to be much different from the previous one. Out here, men with a single giant machine have absolutely no hope of ever crossing the universe. Because in this universe, anything that even attempts to jump off a world will be crushed to a single point by the universal pressure.

So for those who wish to travel the vast universe without any power to call their own, their only hope is to have a dungeon as their transporter.

Plus, if one can get control over a dungeon, they will have their own personal space where they can call themselves gods. Not only will they be able to create life as they wish, but they will also have an infinite tap of the magical energy called ether.

Of course, that is only if they could gain control over the dungeon. And for those who have the right knowledge, controlling a dungeon is very easy. As long as a dungeon core is within sight and the relevant technique is used.

Thinking up to this point, the child turned his attention to his internal body. Which was the only part of him that could be safely observed by mortal eyes. As his external body was an amalgamation of concepts and horror that no mortal could begin to understand. If by any chance a mortal were to gaze upon his body, there is a chance they could gain enlightenment and ascend immediately. That is, if they were to survive the near 100% chance of an explosion or madness.

But his internal body was safe. As this is where he, as a dungeon, lets his monsters roam free.

The space was not that big. It was lined by hard rock and nothing else. By his estimates, the space is likely to be about 25 or so square meters. The space was thus a bit small, but it was large enough to hold the heart of all dungeons.

His dungeon core!

There it stood, half submerged in the ground. It was a large and luminous sphere that covered the small space with its radiant blue light. The light was not too bright, so one could see the interior of the core. Inside was what seemed like a nebula of light dots that looked like stars.

"So that's what my dungeon core looks like. Weird, it feels slightly detached."

The child did not wonder too long about this feeling, though. As it was time to do what dungeons do most.

Create life!
