1 Examination

On Earth the planet where Humans reside, there was a small town called Westalon in that town a group of children is heading to a Guildhall. "I am going to be a Swordsmen and kill all the dungeon bosses and clear all the black Rifts there are." A blond boy looking to be about 15 years old shouted and strikes a pose as if he was a mighty hero.

"Don't get too cocky Rengo, the way that lays before us is a hard and treacherous way. With lots of hardships and suffering. Just because you are allowed to enter the Training-Area does not mean you have accomplished anything." A skinny and pale looking boy with black hair said to the blond boy.

"Shut up trash, who allowed you to talk to me... get lost you weak piece of shit," Rengo answered and began to laugh as all of the Kids standing there burst out in laughter and began to swear at him.

"Look at that weakling", "What is wrong with him", "What does he know, he is the garbage of our class he should better leave this place", "Why is he not leaving or guild already?" The skinny and pale-faced boy's name is Lothar everyone sees him like garbage.

10 years passed since the beginning of the Rift opening, the whole society changed due to the imminent danger of powerful invaders that could come out of a Rift at any moment. For that eminent danger, Humans banded together and forgot about the wars that were fought and stood united against this new threat. The safety of humanity and the planet come first. Humans educated kids in Guilds to foster powerful raiding groups that could stand against any kind of danger and grow stronger together.

In the beginning, Humans send their armed forces into the Rifts to clear them and kill the bosses. Soon they realized that the weapons and Human technologies were useless inside the Rifts. The creatures inside of a Rift were like shadows that could only be hurt with weapons that were constructed with the Job system of the game system that appeared on that fateful day. Or with their pure fists and feet. Naturally, many men and women lost their lives in the battles inside the Rifts.

So Humanity began to adapt and to use the white and yellow Rifts to prepare themselves. Children were forbidden from entering the yellow and white Rifts till the age of 15 and they had to be educated in combat strategies and battle tactics before allowing them to enter. Guilds were formed that recruited young kids to train the children and prepare them for the Rifts.

People that decide to enter the Rifts and fight for Humanity are called Rifters. Rifters are able to grow in strength through earning experience points for killing shadow creatures inside the Rifts. Inside the yellow Rift are the training grounds for the 4 beginner classes. Swordsmen, Scout, Mage, and Healer. After reaching level 50 a beginner class can choose between 2 advanced classes... and after reaching level 100 according to the Game guide you may choose between 2 high classes... but no one reached these classes up til now. The classes that are listed in the Game guide are:

Swordsmen(Knight)(Berserker)

-->Knight(Blademaster)(Paladin)

-->Berserker(Wrath)(Axmaster)

Scout(Assassin)(Archer)

-->Assassin(Stealthlord)(Poison Fang)

-->Archer(Sniper)(Hunter)

Mage(Elementalist)(Sorcerer)

-->Elementalist(Alchemist)(Spiritist)

-->Sorcerer(Summoner)(Warlock)

Healer(Priest)(Monk)

-->Priest(Bishop)(Exorcist)

-->Monk(Shaman)(Holy Fist)

The Guilds have a crystal that scans one's aptitude so they can lay out a path for their students and guide them to be the class fit for them. Today is the day the Guild will scan this generation of 15-year-old kids. Therefore they entered the Guildhall and waited till they were ordered to enter the examination room. "Rengo! You are first, come inside." The examiner said as he stood at the door to the examination room. One can see there own status window at will but this method allows others to see it.

"Put your hands on the crystal in front of you." Rengo did as he was ordered, he was very excited about his evaluation. He knew he would surprise everyone with this.

Rengo

"Very good Rengo. Your strength is obviously the strongest stat you have. You can choose whatever class you like but the Guild recommends that you become a Swordsmen. Take this to the Office at the yellow Rift with this you have the permission to enter it." Rengo was grinning from ear to ear since all he wanted was to become a Swordsmen. He then left the examination room with his grin still not leaving his face, every one of his classmates could tell that he got what he wanted. A girl named Astrid walked up to him and asked, "How was it, Rengo?" He took out a piece of paper from his Inventory and showed her the results. "Wow, strength at 16 points not bad you have trained a lot for this" Astrid exclaimed so that everyone could hear her.

"What 16???" "How can that be" "I thought he was just boasting and exaggerating about his strength" "Isn't that nearly the high score for a 15-year-old to ever be scanned?" "No the high score lays at 18" "But that surely is not a bad score" A lot of discussions among the classmates broke out. It was normal for a 15-year-old to have at least one status parameter over 10. With this, the Guild would advise on which class to take. Str is good for Swordsmen, Agi is good for Scouts, Int is for Mages, and Vit is for Healer.

It is possible to raise the basic status parameter with training, Str and Agi can be improved with physical exercises, Int raizes by studying and brain exercises like puzzles and riddles, Vit can be improved by eating healthy, bathing in sunlight and meditation.

"Next one is Astrid." The examiner said as he waited at the door again. Astrid was a very beautiful young girl with long black hair, she looked very feminine and had a very sexy curvy body with long slender legs, nice proportioned hips, and very elegant chest region, not too big and not too small. She was known to have a thing for Rengo, These two would always hang out together and were seen as an absolute dream couple.

When she left the examination room she walked over to Rengo and showed him with excitement her piece of paper.

"I can become your Healer, Rengo I am suited for the Healer class." Rengo and Astrid were overjoyed because this means they were able to form a Party when they become Rifters and are able to support each other. Afterall Swordsmen need Healers to take care of their wounds and Healers need the protection of Swordsmen... a perfect match. As this kept on it was now Lothar's turn.

The examiner stood in the door again and said, "Lothar please." They walked inside and headed for the crystal. "Lay both of your hands on the crystal." The examiner said. Lothar was very nervous he knew he was different from others.

Lothar

The examiner was a bit surprised by the outcome but after thinking about it for a moment he asked Lothar in astonishment: "Where are you from Lothar?" Lothar answered: "I am from Mennig" The eyes of the examiner widened and he thought to himself, "Poor child, I can not let him become a Rifter with these stats." He then took in a deep breath an was about to tell Lothar that he should better not attempt to be a Rifter... but he was interrupted by Lothar, " I know what you want to say, sir, but this is the only way for me... even if I die doing this... at least I will be reunited with my family so please make an exception and let it pass."

The examiner was out of words... he simply did not know how to respond to that. Should he send the kid to the grave or should he save him and let him live in agony. Mennig is a town that was raided and destroyed by Demons that were able to clear a green Rift before Humans could react and start countermeasures the whole town was destroyed only a few survived. Lothar was one of them. It is said that the survivors were all cursed and would sooner or later die because of their weakened state. "Do as you like." The examiner said, also choose a class you see fit for you, with your stats every class will be challenging."

Lothar bowed down to the examiner and said, "Thank you, for giving me this opportunity." He then took the piece of paper and left the room. The examiner sighed and thought to himself, "Maybe he has a chance... this is the first time I see a skill on a 15-year-old."

By scanning through the crystal the examiner can only see the skill but not the skill description. Lothar was able to get this skill through training and trying to overcome the curse of weakness. He Trains every day in every aspect to improve his overall stats. Since the destruction of his hometown and the death of his family, he emerged in training for his revenge. When one day as he was training a sound could be heard.

---You gained a Basic-Skill---

---Endurance LVL 1 was added to your Skills---

He then opened his Status window and looked for the description.

Status Description: Cursed

Curse of weakness: Reduced all abilities by 50%

Skill Description:

Endurance Lvl 1, Passiv Skill: Physical and Mental resistence +2%

"What does that mean? How did I get this Skill without a class? Is it a basic Skill for those without a class?" A year has passed since his family was killed by demons. He was now 14 years old and this was the first spark of hope that let him have a goal in mind. Maybe with this, he could turn around his fate of being weak. So he trained and trained like there was no tomorrow. Weight lifting, running, and sprints in the morning. Resting, eating and meditation till noon and studying in the evening. He noticed that everything became a tiny bit easier after that Skill appeared.

One year for all his stats to rise from 1 to 2 and after he got the Skill he managed to improve from 2 to 5 points in a year. Just a few days bevor the examination he heard another sound.

---Skill Level Up---

---Endurance Lvl 2---

Skill Description:

Endurance Lvl 2, Passiv Skill: Physical and Mental resistence +10%

When he saw the Skill description he was overjoyed. This was what he was searching for, a way to improve. Originally he did not want to enter the examination... but only after being examined are you allowed to enter the yellow Rifts.

When Lothar left the examination room still holding the piece of paper in his hand Rengo snuck up on him and stole the piece of paper from him, after reading it hi began to laugh and said: "Seems like you are equally strong in every aspect or should it be called equally weak... the average kid that is scanned by the age of 15 has at least one stat parameter over 10 points. You only have 5 points in every aspect, you truely are trash."

Soon everyone was laughing about Lothar. He simply walked over to Rengo took his piece of paper and ignored him. Lothar was different from other kids after the experiences he had no other choice but to man up and stand above such simple provocations. This would simply not anger him... he was able to completely ignore Rango. He then left the building and headed straight for the yellow Rift.

He was not someone who trifle with these matters all that matters to him is his revenge. He has the image of the demon who killed his parents and his little sister in mind. He would never forget about this him. During his daily training routines, Lother did a lot of mental exercises that helped him remember things. After about half a year of his training, he was able to divide his thoughts and think of more things at the same time. One thing he would always think of was the demon who did this to his family. This would drive him forward and lets him keep going.
