Dungeon Master: Paving a bloody path to sovereignty

*The image on the cover belongs to TheSmilingOgre, I claim no ownership of it ---------- An unknown entity has kidnapped hundreds of thousands of humans across the whole globe and transported all of them to a fantasy world. There, they were all separated into two different roles: Dungeon Masters which have to expand their dungeon and kill any intruders in order to grow stronger and Heroes which must enter the dungeons to destroy them. In the midst of this bloody game, Luiz must do everything he can to survive as a Dungeon Master while learning more about the fantastical world he's been thrown in and the entity that brought all of them there. So accompany him as he rises to the top and leaves a bloody trail behind him as he aims to become unmatched by all. ---------- *English isn't my first language, so feel free to show me any errors so I can correct them in the future. *This is a very slow novel, so there will be a lot of descriptions, theorizing and experimentation when building the dungeon, so if you want a lot of action at the start you might be disappointed but if you like an in-depth dungeon building and a flashed out fantasy world than you might be interested. *Romance will be entirely absent from the start of this novel as it would make things progress even slower than they already are, but I'm willing to work on it later on. *The protagonist won't be an OP badass who can solve everything easily but he'll be very thoughtful and will always try to outplay his opponents rather than just facing them head-on, basically he'll have the ingredients to be very powerful at the start but that will only come true later on. *Lastly, make sure to leave suggestions and tell me how you feel about the story, your opinions can help me greatly in writing this story.

After taking a brief look into my status panel, the first thing that he looked towards were his attribute distribution, he was already 90% sure of what his species was and considering all the game-like elements he would be surprised if there wasn't some form of level system, so those things didn't really came to him as a surprise.

But in regards to his own attributes, it can only be described as 'very high highs and very low lows', it can be said that the distribution is very unbalanced, with his stats having a huge difference between the ones that are good and those that are bad.

His strength, endurance, will and especially vitality are awful, all of them are in the single digits. Meanwhile his agility, dexterity and awareness are superb. That only leaves his intelligence which is on a middle ground between the two previous groups.

But he knows that these numbers can be deceiving, since his 'low' strength is still several times stronger than he was as a human, meaning that even his lowest attribute is still higher than a normal humans, though he is pretty sure that doesn't mean much in this fantastical new world.

And in regards to the function of all this attributes, he was very much certain thanks to all his gaming experience.

Strength is usually used to define your damage with most weapons and allow you to effectively wield heavy weapons, it is a stat that is very important to warriors and other frontline fighters.

Awareness should be related to the acuity of your senses and it should help one detect hidden traps or ambushes, this stat is most important to thieves and other roles responsible for scouting and disarming traps.

Endurance is related to your total stamina and its recovery along with your capacity to wear heavy armor and carry heavy loads, this stat is essential for porters and other roles that need to carry a lot of weight.

Dexterity is your capacity to accurately execute difficult motor tasks and skillfully handle objects, this skill is very important for archers and other roles that require high precision.

Agility affects your flexibility, speed and reflexes, this stat is essential for rogues, assassins and other roles that require speed.

Vitality defines your capacity to take damage and your resistance to physical ailments, this stat is important for tanks and other roles that need to be able to take a lot of damage.

Intelligence is your total brainpower and mental acuity but it mostly refers to magic aptitude and your capacity to cast spells, this stat is essential for mages and other magic wielding classes

Lastly there's Willpower, this one is the most vague of the bunch and the one he is currently most uncertain about, but one of his guesses is that it provides defense against mental or spiritual attacks, but it may be more than that.

According to his current attribute distribution, he currently belongs to a very popular archetype that was known in his previous life as:

'Glass cannon.'

This refer to those that ditched any form of stability and decided to completely forego investing points into attributes that increase their survival to instead invest them all onto their damage.

This sort of strategy is called by many: 'high risk and high reward', in which either you overwhelm your opponent with your power or you fail miserably and are reduced to dust, so it it attracted more skilled and experienced players to try it, but doing so as a beginner is basically a death wish.

But considering his current attribute allocation, it is very clear that he is very specialized as a rogue class or even an archer. Low endurance and vitality means that he absolutely can't just face his opponents head-on, his low strength and high dexterity also mean that he should focus on light finesse weapons like daggers, rapiers or bows rather than heavy ones, his middling intelligence doesn't really exite him to become a pure mage and his absurd awareness might be useful to see through any tricks one might want pull on him.

So knowing which path he's already on, he decided to accept what was given to him and start thinking about which skill would suit him the most when he decides to use the tome.

With all the basics done and all the system options briefly looked through, he is now free to start his dungeon building career for real.

But there is one last thing that he wanted to do, it's something that he wished to do ever since he realized that this isn't his old body.

And that is: Finally getting to see how he looks like.

He once again opened the store tab and searched among the dungeon props until he found a full body mirror and without putting much thought he purchased it knowing that he could get full refund.

A total of 50 mana crystals were subtracted from his resources and the mirror was automatically placed into his storage space.

Then he went to the building panel and tried to place it in the room he was in, but to his surprise his attempt was a failure and a message was quickly sent to him.

[Object placement denied, the room chosen has construction and placement of objects restricted on it]

After reading the warning, he then calmly moved on and tried to place it in the next room, which was the healing fountain room.

Which was also denied, followed by the exact same message.

Then the same thing at the core room.

And the dungeon entrance? Also denied.

This was enough to start slowly wearing out his patience.

'Weren't I supposed to have received complete authority over the dungeon after connecting with the core? Aren't I responsible for building the dungeon? Then why I'm being restrained at my first action as a Dungeon Master?'

But he quickly regained his calm and started thinking logically about this problem, but after a few seconds he comes to a very simple solution.

'If I can't place it in any of the current rooms, than all I need to do is create a new one.'

With this idea in mind, he went to the dungeon expansion option and created a very simple 10×10 tile room which costed 10 mana crystals and place it between the entrance and the healing fountain, since apparently it couldn't annex it to either the throne room or the core room.

Then he tried to place the mirror in this new room, but this time things went smoothly and the mirror disappeared from his storage.

He then rose from his stone throne, that although uncomfortable at the begining he is now actually starting to get used to. And started making his way there at a leisure pace while thinking of a few insights that this brief situation had given him.

'It's better for me to figure out all the limitations and rules that must be respected while building a dungeon before I start doing it in earnest. It would be very annoying to be in the last steps to finishing the dungeon just to realize that something is not allowed and have to scrap all your progress because your strategy depended on it.'

Finally reaching there, he sees the mirror attached to the wall and approaches it feeling a bit giddy inside.

When he was just a few steps away from it, he made a brief stop to make a small prayer.

"To whoever sent me here, I'm already grateful for being made tall so I won't demand to also be handsome in this life, but please at least give me a face that'll allow me to negotiate with the locals and not be treated as a horrific monstrosity."

With this firm requested made and his courage gathered, he boldly went forward and stood in front of the mirror, ready to face the truth.

And oh boy... Where should he start?

The first thing that caught his eyes was... Well, his eyes.

His irises were blood red with slitted pupils and the sclera was not the usual white but a deep black, which made him look quite mysterious and frightening, it remembers him of a certain show he watched where there were those human-like beings called 'ghouls' that ate people.

Aside from that his face had nothing wrong with it, he didn't feel anything abnormal other than his long triangular ears before while touching it with his hands, but now he has a complete picture rather than just a rough image in his head.

"..."

Okay, I don't want to appear narcissistic but if I'm being honest, based purely on aesthetic value, my current appearance surpasses any male models and actors I've seen in my previous world by a large margin.

But there's just one thing that bothers me about it, despite having a face value that would leave my previous one in the dust. It wasn't exactly in a way I would imagine.

Long eyelashes, very long straight hair that reaches my waist, long and thin limbs that didn't seem to hold much muscles, smooth skin that didn't seem to hold even a single trace of hair, no matter how you look at it, those traits aren't the first thing you think when you imagine a man.

Honestly, if he hadn't already confirmed that he still had his little brother down there in the first time investigating this body, therefore confirming 100% that he hadn't changed genders than he would be having doubts right now.

"Well... I technically had my wish granted, it's just that I was bestowed with an androgynous beauty rather than a masculine handsomeness. Maybe this was a characteristic of elves? If all the others are like me, then I wouldn't mind it as much."

But putting aside his own personal preferences, he was immensely glad just to have a face that won't get him attacked on sight, his eyes might be a bit frightening with their unusual colors but that is something he can work around. Depending on his target's preferences, his current appearance might actually be a boon in future negotiations.

With this small wish of being able to see his new appearance now fulfilled. He returned the mirror back into storage and didn't hesitate to immediately resell it at the store to get his mana crystals back.

With this, he now had no more loose ends and could finally start performing his duties.

And he had already decided what would be his first priority.

The thing he is the most worried with right now is his resources. Dungeon building is very expensive and the resources he has right now won't allow him to create a dungeon that satisfies him, so he must first and foremost create a stable resource output to fund his future building endeavors.

'Let's put all my experience playing strategy games to good use.'
