TWO ORPHANS

In the white deer city of the Woldemort continent, on the north side of the prosperous city center, there was a young girl aged 16 or 17 in an old, crumbling one-story house. While sweat was streaming down his forehead, he was looking with worried eyes at the young boy sitting on the old sofa with holes on the sides.

The boy had brown hair, purple eyes, a straight nose, sharp facial features, and a handsome appearance, apart from his pale and dust-filled face.

His slightly muscular but slim figure, 175 centimeters tall, gave him a solid physique but an undernourished appearance.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, black trousers, and old white shoes, showing that his financial situation was not very good.

The reason he was pale could be that there was a 5-centimeter-long, slightly deep blunt knife mark on his right arm, and there was a trace of blood starting from his arms and going down from the tips of his fingers.

The young girl was pressing the child's arm with a cloth with blood stains in her hands, trying to prevent further blood from flowing.

The girl had curly black hair, eyes blacker than the night, a petite figure with a small nose and a thin chin.

He was wearing a thin, faded black sweater, dark blue trousers, and shoes that were in better condition than the boy's.

The boy looked at the girl's worried eyes and tried to smile and said, "Mereine, don't worry, it's just a slight wound, it will heal soon."

The girl closed her eyes tightly, trying not to cry, and said in a mosquito-like voice that even she couldn't hear, "Thank you, Alex."

Alex may not have heard of her, but after so many years of being together, he knew almost her every habit. He caressed the girl's cheek with the back of his left hand and said, "It doesn't really matter, it's just a slight wound, when it's cleaned, nothing will be left, it will be as good as new."

The girl averted her eyes because she knew she couldn't stand it any longer, put the cloth into the cold water bowl next to her and started to remove the blood stain again.

Alex let out a small sigh. He took his eyes off the only window in the room and turned to the reflected moonlight above. He knew Mereine's temper. he would never leave her without relief.

Alex looked at the room again. In the room, there was an old sofa he was sleeping on, a bed on the left side of the wall, a handmade cabinet made of wooden lumber next to the bed. With a dirty carpet full of holes on the floor, at least his feet did not have to get cold in the winter cold.

On the left side of the room was a small counter used for cooking and a rusted faucet.

Alex finally looked at his left arm and the cut was not a big deal in his opinion. What he was afraid of was the risk of infection because the knife was blunt.

Alex closed his eyes and remembered the memory that had happened just this evening.

He kept his eyes firmly fixed on the old, thin and dirty-bearded person in front of him. He was now holding a 7-centimeter dagger in his hand. The dagger looked like a normal curved dagger, except that there was a mark on the handle that looked like a stamp.

There was nothing on the stamp other than a plain wooden door.

Alex fixed his eyes on the person in front of him again. Mereine behind him was breathing heavily, trying to look tough with his short stature. He was holding a silver-coloured round simple thing in his hands, which he held tightly.

What he was holding was nothing but the main currency of Woldemort's continent. That silver coin was very valuable to him and Alex, so it was a silver coin that the two of them barely earned by working other jobs for a full week.

One silver coin was what would keep the two of them from starving for a week.

The eyes of the old man across the street were fixed on the dagger in an alex and the silver coin in a mereine.

Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore and started waving the kitchen knife in his hand, saying "give me the damn money", revealing the greed in his eyes.

Mereine took a step back, frightened.

Alex, on the other hand, adjusted his stance as his eyes became more determined and dangerous.

A fight was inevitable. Alex knew it. He had gotten used to such a life since they left the orphanage.

His only concern was Mereine behind him.

The man couldn't stand it anymore, he made a sudden move and waved the kitchen knife towards Alex. Alex saw this and was already waiting. The moment the man jumped on him, his right hand shook the dagger he was holding hard towards the man's chest.

The man opened his eyes wide and had to take a step back. But he underestimated Alex's determination. He looked at Alex with blank eyes as he took a step forward and swung the dagger towards the man's stomach.

The dagger was firmly lodged in his stomach. In panic, the man started waving his kitchen knife as if chasing a fly.

Alex was a little late because he did not expect such a panic. Just as he dropped the dagger and retreated, the blade left a long gash on his arm.

Alex immediately dropped the dagger and took a step back. He tried to kick hard towards the dagger in the man's stomach. The man was afraid of both the deep wound in his stomach and Alex's determination.

While he was trying to retreat, his foot tripped on a paving stone protruding from the road full of cracks on the ground and he fell backwards.

He may have fallen, but he managed to dodge Alex's kick relatively safely.

Alex's kick landed on the man's left chest and he landed hard on the ground. Alex clenched his teeth and immediately jumped on the man. Dol held the man's kitchen knife with his hand and with his injured right hand, he immediately removed his own dagger from the man's stomach and stabbed it into his heart.

The man tried to breathe as his eyes went blank. As his body trembled and he took his last breath, he didn't know what he had done wrong.

These events were quite common on the Woldemort continent. Big fish eats small fish. He had lived like this on the streets all these years, he didn't even know how many robberies and murders he had committed.

But he underestimated Alex. Oda had committed quite a few murders, though not many like him. After all, he had to take lives while protecting something.

Alex stood up painfully and looked first at Merein behind him.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Mereine had watched the fight. He knew that Alex was injured and he ran to Alex.

He looked at the wound on his arm with concern and said, "I'm fine, but you're injured very badly."

"Don't worry, it's just a minor wound," Alex said, trying to smile.

With tears coming to her eyes, Mereine said, "Come on, we need to go home quickly and clean your wound," and she immediately tried to grab Alex and take him away.

"Wait a second," Alex said.

He immediately bent down and began to search the man, first taking the kitchen knife that injured him and then taking the 25 copper coins he found from the man's trouser pocket and tying them with a cloth.

Since his trousers had no pockets, he started holding them tightly so that no one would see them.

Immediately afterwards, he started walking quickly towards the house with Mereine. While pouring the corner, he looked at the old man lying on the ground. He wasn't worried about the body. Towards the morning, the teams patrolling the city or someone passing by will find him.

When they got home, Mereine immediately laid Alex down on the sofa. He ran to the counter to get a bucket of water. He quickly ran back with a cloth and a bucket of cold water and began cleaning Alex's wound.

Mereine was thanking Alex because she felt his anxiety after the fight and also took care of him all these years without saying anything.

Alex and Mereine were two children from the same orphanage who grew up together from an early age and were not related at all.

They got along very well with each other since their childhood. Since then, Alex would always protect her and she would sew Alex's clothes or do little things like that.

Even after leaving the orphanage, he clumsily worked as a waiter in a restaurant, washed dishes, and devoted himself to education with the two copper coins he received a day to learn how to cook.

It was very fortunate for him that the restaurant chef had taught him a few tricks.

Alex looked at Mereine. He saw this girl, with whom he had been together since childhood, as his own little sister. He was truly deeply grateful to this girl who stood by him in lonely times.
