3 Walking the Dreams

Nine hours after it stopped raining, Vorian was once again on his foot and walking through the mountain range. He didn't know what this place was called. Actually, nobody from the prisoners knew because they were thrown into the wastelands of the Salusa Secundus without any information.

This was to prevent the prisoners from better coordinating themselves.

And even though Vorian possessed Genetic Memories, due to many problems he had when he was accessing them, he was basically saving his "energy" for more important things than just names of some areas on this god-forsaken place.

Cultivating even a single Sardaukar was good for the House Corrino because only one in a thousand could be inducted into the Sardaukar. Even then, the newly inducted Sardaukar would be sent off the planet to complete some of the most dangerous missions for the House Corrino within the borders of the Imperium.

***

Time in the Salusa Secundus flew almost mercilessly, and soon enough, one month, two months, and finally three months passed when Vorian noticed a huge spaceship in the shape of a ball descending down from the orbit at the capital city of the Salusa Secundus.

He knew that this was the time to leave this planet because the Imperial Censor arrived at the Salusa Secundus, so he would, right now, need to find the spaceship, take it, and race to the Heighliner and bon voyage.

Within the dreamscape he was starting at the dream projection of the Imperial Seat of Kaitain that was created from the Irulan's memories.

"I managed to get a small one-person spacecraft prepared for you, one used by the members of the Imperial House Representatives. Unfortunately, it is on the edges of the Safe Zone."

When Vorian heard Irulan say that, he stopped in his tracks, because Safe Zone was patrolled by the Sardaukar.

It was called the Safe Zone for that very own reason, and the changes that one would encounter with Sardaukar Troopers there were very big, albeit only the newer members of the Sardaukar were sent on the patrol duties there because it was very mundane and boring tasks.

"Then I will just cut my way through; nowadays, they are posting the newly inducted members because even Returnees are protesting against it."

Returness were the Sardaukar that returned back to the Salusa Secundus after their first time leaving the planet for the mission. When someone was inducted into the Sardaukar from the prisoners, they would be slowly posted across the known universe for dangerous missions.

After some time, they would return back to the Salusa Secundus for another wave of training and conditioning, which would be the final one. Because the "Returnees" were already the most highly skilled warriors, many of them protested against playing some guard or watchmen where nothing was happening.

"Everything is prepared to succeed. The ship is equipped with some degree of stealth technology, and I already arranged for the trusted member of the Spacing Guild to give your write of passage. Nobody will see or ask anything..."

Irulan knew very well that not even the Space Guild would dare to bio-scan spaceships carrying the write of passage belonging to the Imperial House of Corrino.

That was the main reason why she arranged everything in this way, so Vorian would not need anything else and would be safe during the journey.

She knew that there was some secret conspiracy between the Bene Gesserit Order and Space Guild; fortunately, during the thousands of years of existence, House Corrino managed to get a good number of loyal people into the Spacing Guild.

Obviously, the Spacing Guild was aware of such, and they silently tolerated it due to their respect for the Imperial House of the Imperium, though these people never became the high-ranking Navigators or Administrators of the Spacing Guild.

In fact, that was enough because the House Corrino needed to have some of their most loyal in the control of Heighliners in a few crucial places across the Imperium, especially on the Salusa Secundus and Kaitain.

"If you covered your tracks well, it would take some time for the Bene Gesserit to trace it back to you... and even if they suspect something, without directly meeting me, they would have no proof, and without proof, they would never act openly."

Vorian knew the modus operandi of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood very well; he knew that without directly confirming his status, they would never act openly against him, especially once he managed to reach Caladan.

They were far too cautious because once it messed up and it was found out that they attacked the Great House, most of their order would perish under the might of the Great Houses of the Landsraad.

No, even if they met him, they would get mixed answers because, in the end, he was artificially made Kwisatz Haderach, and he hadn't awakened yet; he knew that some parts of him were missing.

"I think that Reverend Mother Superior is suspecting something..."

Hearing this made Vorian nearly scoff because he knew very well the woman they were talking about. Of course, Reverend Mother Superior Mohiam would suspect something, he knew about the woman a lot and knew that she was more cunning and insightful than sages of old.

"Of course, she would... that woman is far too intelligent for her own good, but that doesn't make her any less dangerous. Becoming Reverend Mother Superior of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood is a great feat; she is also the one who is personally overseeing the project of the Artificial Hwisatz Haderach."

Vorian knew that Irulan needed to be extra careful, not to hide anything, but to prolong the time. He knew that it was only mother of time, until everything was seen through by her, because someone as cunning as Reverend Mother Superior would soon realize the truth.

For that, the farther from here he was, the better.

Once he was on the Caladan and got registered as an official member of the House Atreides, he would have an extra layer of political protection from the Bene Gesserit and their machinations.

"Even the current consort of the Duke of Caladan and Head of the House Atreides is Sister of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood and coincidentally personal student of the Reverend Mother Superior, Lady Jessica."

Vorian couldn't really say that he was surprised by this information, because it was rather common for the noblemen of the Great Houses to take the spouses that were from the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood.

One way or another, either for the purposes of the power or as part of the Bene Gesserit Breeding Program, where the Sisterhood decided which of their members would marry concrete members of the Great House of the Landsraad.

"Of course he would... why not?"

This was a question more aimed at himself than at her...

"Though what I heard from the Reverend Mother Superior, it seems that Lady Jessica strained from the path of their Order."

Hearing this made Vorian raise his brow because no matter how cunning and treacherous the Sisters of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood were, almost all of them were loyal to the Sisterhood.

"This is rather new... rarely they disobey the orders as the conditioning they undergo on the Walach IX is extremely powerful, far more than anything else in the known Universe."

During their stay in the Bene Gesserit Schools, young apprentices underwent heavy waves of loyalty conditioning toward the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. Contrary to what one would expect, it was done rather subtly and almost on an invisible principle, so it was very hard to see that the people were actually slowly but surely brainwashed.

"It is... Something similar happened last time exactly 325 years ago with the wife of the Lord of the House Ecaz, who was a member of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. It was noted down, that during the year 9,865 of the Imperial Date, when she disobeyed the direct order of the Sisterhood and effectively betrayed the Sisterhood when she delivered crucial information about several different houses that were hostile to the House Ecaz against the direct order of the Sisterhood because the Sisterhood wanted the House Ecaz to lose the kanly so their position within the Landsraad would weaken."

He smiled lightly as he knew that Irulan knew her history... even though she was Imperial Princess and Crown Princess to the Golden Lion Throne of the Imperium, she was an excellent historian.

"That was certainly educational..."

He gave her a kiss on the cheek for that, and she huffed lightly before turning away.

"Don't worry... soon enough... we will meet in the future for the real..."
