12 Four Avatars Part II

“It’s him who helped me. He’s level 28 now. He was at level 26 when he fought the boss.”

Nicki narrowed her eyes and looked at Tan who currently made a smirk face as he heard his friend talking about him. “Must be lucky…If you were to join the tournament here with such a crappy deck, you would lose since the first few rounds,” she stated and turned her gaze at the cards.

“You!” Tan raised his voice, but Nicki raised a question before he could say anything more.

“Hey…you guys,” she said. “How do you set up your deck? You go first, Pervert,” Nicki asked as she turned to Tan.

Tan frowned but then said, “Just put cards with higher stats and stars. The thing is…I’m not a pervert…I’m just mean,” he replied.

Nicki sighed and shook his head. “Do you know how to adjust and reinforce?” She asked.

“Yeah,” he immediately replied.

“Judging from the deck, I think you don’t,” said the girl. “Let’s go. If you think cards with higher stats and stars are the best, then follow me.” Nicki stood up and walked to the back of her workshop. She pushed a switch on the wall; suddenly, the entrance to the basement opened up leading to a large room built with gray bricks.

“Let’s test it. I’m going to use only cards with 3 stars and below. You can use whatever best deck you can pull off,” Nicki provoked and opened up a deck setup panel. Confused, Tan and Blanche followed the girl they just accepted to their party for joining the tournament to win the Caldia Castle Area Card.

Soon, they finished rearranging their deck.

“Don’t blame me if I accidentally kill you and make you lose your level,” Tan said. “I don’t want to bully a girl.”

“Do you know a function called Practice Mode?” Nicki asked. Tan was confused, but Blanche seemed to be aware of it. “We can test our decks with friends in the town area to see the combo of our cards.”

“Combo?” Tan repeated

“It’s when you use cards together to multiply its effects. Well, let’s just die and you’ll know what it is,” Nicki said as she sent a practice match invitation to Tan, and of course, the troublemaker accepted in a flash.

“Though flat-chested but still a woman, I’ll go easy on you,” said Tan.

Nicki sneered. “Go ahead, you can talk just for now.”

Battle Start!

“Summon! Summon! Equip!” Tan shouted as he activated his cards. After that, his proudest cards appeared—Wicked Wolf, Shining Bird, and also a crossbow.

The three Thin Robots and Machine Generator rushed towards Tan at the same time; their damage was not that much.

“171!”

“170!”

“172!”

“440!”

The four monsters took turns attacking Tan. Wicked Wolf and Shining Bird could not block their attack because of the effect of Shadow Assault.

After that, the effect of Chain Reaction was activated. The four monsters that had attacked Tan exploded and dealt damage to Tan who was within a 1-yard radius.

“310!”

“310!”

“310!”

“440!”

As the four monsters exploded, Sniper of Revenge who stood beside Nicki was illuminated.

“200...400...600...800!” Its attack power kept increasing after Metal race monsters exploded, and when it reached the peak, a bullet then fired from the sniper.

“800!”

Damage appeared above Tan at the same time the system voice sounded.

Player Tanthai has lost the practice match…

“What!” Tan screamed.

“This is a combo…” Nicki calmly said as she pretended to wipe the dust off her shoulder.

Tan stood still. It would be better if he could deal some damage, but he had completely lost the battle without dealing any damage.

“Come on…It’s just a practice match,” Blanche consoled him, but Tan still froze.

Nicki smiled then walked past Tan heading upstairs. “There, there, you win some, you lose some, but I had no idea you would lose without doing anything. Don’t be sad about losing to a girl.” Words of irony sounded in Tan's ears. Nicki then walked upstairs and rewarded herself with a glass of juice.

Blanche followed Nicki upstairs as Tan gestured to him. He sat across Nicki and looked at her with admiration. “You’re so good. If you are this good, then you can win a battle against almost everyone.”

Nicki raised her hand at Blanche as she finished her drink, put the glass down, and spoke, “Only if I always get this set of cards.” She continued, “But it wouldn’t be easy like this…”

“What do you mean by that, Nicki?” Blanche frowned. Nicki handed the deck that she used in the previous battle to him.

“You know that you can put as many cards as you like in a practice match, right?” Nicki asked.

Blanche was surprised as he checked Nicki’s deck. “There are only six cards! Not sixty!?”
