Chapter 14- New home

"That badge is for everybody to see that you are core disciple from distance, nobody will bother you with that. That bracelet is what records everything about you here in the sect."

Elder Luo pulled out similarly looking badge and one more bracelet.

"This one is for you!" He handed the things to Yuki. "This badge makes you protected as an exclusive cultivation partner of core disciple, according to the rules of the sect nobody can touch you. And the bracelet is the same as Fen's."

He looked back at me.

"You both have to wear it always, it tracks everything about you and it's used everywhere, you need it to get to your resources, you need it get to missions and also to attend lectures. Once you register for any type off missions it will even activate formations that will let you control privacy of your details, accept missions and so on. But for that you need to register for at least one kind of missions."

We both nodded and quickly wore the bracelets.

"It will also open the door to your mansion. If you don't have any more questions I can take you there. And give you small orientation tour on the way." Elder Luo spoke.

"It would be very nice of you dark forest cleaning section leader Luo."

"Fine let's go. Just two quick things. First, please call me just elder Luo it's shorter. Second why is one of the Weng's rabbits following you?"

I turned to where the elder was looking and my eyes fell on the rabbit that was following since second exam, I chuckled and spoke.

"It is following me since the second exam … "I explained the whole thing. "Why did you call it Weng's rabbit?"

Elder Luo chuckled. "It's her hobby she likes to tame monsters and summon all kinds of stuff; she has all kinds of pets from rabbits like this guy to sabretooth lions. And I am not even speaking about the stuff she can summon."

I nodded. "I see, why is this guy following me then? Shouldn't he be running back to assassination section leader Weng?"

Elder shook his head. "Beats me, at any rate Weng tends to be rather attached to her pets I would suggest taking a good care of that rabbit."

I shrugged. "I don't mind, he is cute and to be honest I also took liking to the guy."

After this we headed towards the section of the sect that was dedicated to core disciples. Walls between outer and inner dispel zone were huge but they were nothing in comparison to one's splitting inner disciples and the core ones. The wall must have had at least thirty meters, it was fucking huge.

Once we crossed the gate towards the core disciple part of the sect elder Luo showed us around, He showed us where we can register for assassination jobs, quests, and dark forest clearing jobs. He also proceeded to explain the latter two. First one didn't need much explaining, you take a job and you unalive the person mentioned in the job, job is done. The only tricky part is that you can only take up to four assassination jobs a month.

As for the other two. Quests was your stock standard stuff, chasing treasures, protecting damsels in distress and similar bullshit, in general a lot of work and time required just to get an average reward. On average these were the least lucrative jobs in the sect, but if you were lucky, they had the highest sealing, since you always got a share from the 'heavenly treasure' you were looking for, or the damsel could take fancy in you and so on. They were perfect if you were lucky main character of a cultivation novel, but no thanks, I would prefer quick easy pay off without too much of a hassle.

Last was dark forest clearing, this was quick and dirty. They have an office where you register as a 'forest hunter', you go hunt monsters, you collect the monster carcasses, you turn them in and you get paid. Quick and simple, more shit you kill more resources you get and sect uses the carcasses for pill creation, armor and weapon manufacturing and even cooking.

Honestly, I was dumbfounded when elder Luo told me that the quest was the most popular category, followed by forest clearing and assassination contract were the least popular. Granted you had to unalive somebody but outside of that it was easy resources.

He then proceeded to inform us how the resource acquisition works. From all those sources you gain so called 'resource points' that can exchanged for all kinds of resources. As a core disciple I get quite a lot of the resource points passively but I also have priority when it comes to jobs. Some jobs are only addressed to core or inner and core disciples. Plus, every job is first posted to core disciples, day later it is posted to inner ones and only one day after that it is visible to outer disciples. And if it is taken by core or inner disciple somewhere in the process timer is paused. So, I could imagine that the jobs that get to outer disciples must be just utter junk.

As for dark forest cleaning Outer, inner and core disciples had different hunting zones, officially it was for safety reasons but in reality, it mostly to funnel resources to core and inner disciples.

He showed us where we exchange our resource points for pretty much everything from weapons though armors and pills to cultivation partners for rent, and also which facilities are offering special services for points. Like special cultivation space and so on. For me the most interesting was so called dual cultivation room, it was room that both stimulated people for dual cultivation and also made the cultivation alone after the act much more effective. It was more or less dual cultivator's wet dream.

Lastly, he showed us the rankings. It was a huge floating black stone that depicted all kinds of rankings real time thanks to formations and mystical arts. When we looked weirdly on most of the rankings elder Luo explained.

Every time a disciple completes a task or advances in his martial art or cultivation he receives certain amount of merit points. And based on those points a ranking is made. The two most important rankings being top 100 in merit overall and top 100 in merit monthly.

One showed which active disciple had gathered most merit points overall. This one was pretty dominated by disciples that were here for years and were about to become elders as for the other one, that one showed people who gained the most merit during the last month. Both of these were rather important since the top 100 in both received bonus resource points. 

We both listened carefully and memorized everything elder Luo had to say, we needed to form strategy how to get as much resource points as possible and how to ensure I am going to win over the elder Weng.

After elder Luo completed our tour, he brought us to the mansion we were going to live in. When I first saw the mansion, my jaw dropped. I didn't saw that coming, the mansion was huge. If it was on earth, you would think that it is the house of yakuza boss in Japan. It even had a huge garden. I remained frozen for few second when I was woken up by elder Luo.

"You will live here, as I already mentioned both gate and door open with your bracelet. Servants are not included but you can pick up some in utility center on market street where are resource points shops, I showed you earlier, as for furniture, there should be most of what you would need, if you want something else just go grab it to the same market street. You should be able to find plenty of both for money and also resource points whichever you prefer."

After this we said our goodbyes, me with Yuki went to check out our new home. We crawled the entire mansion looking what is where. Everything looked very luxurious. Mansion had a huge bathroom with a hot spring and showers. Master bedroom was gigantic and the biggest chunk of the room was taken by unbelievably huge bed. We both chuckled getting the point of a huge bed.

After we examined the entire mansion, we both realized that it is not going to work without servants, we would not able to keep the house tidy on our own.

 Once we saw enough of our mansion we decided to go register for assassination and dark forest missions. First, I decided to register for dark forest missions, there was no issue here and I could be rather open about that. Once I arrived there, I asked receptionist how can I register and she explained that all I need to do is to touch one of the blue globes that could be seen all around the hall. She ensured me that it is private and there is no way for anybody to see what I am doing.
