Don't Touch My Tail

"I'm not as good as my twin so don't expect me to conjure up miracles. I've got a bone to pick against Tiamat but I ain't doing it because of the Ultimate Spell," muttered Layla as she looked down.

Matt relaxed as he let out a sigh. But before he could turn around, Layla gripped his tail even tighter.

"Don't get me wrong; those who seek out the Ultimate Spell only want her power. I want her dead."

"I never want to hear that she is going to resurface because I will make sure she stays down," growled Layla as she looked up at Matt with her eye rings shining bright with revenge.

The Loplin stretched out a hand and grabbed onto Layla's wrist that held his tail.

"I understand and I appreciate you coming on board. And not to worry, I'm not going to compare you to the Dragoon's Royal Guard," assured Matt as Layla slowly released his tail.

This allowed the Loplin to finally turn around to face the Dragoon. Before Layla could move or say anything else, the male rabbit quickly cupped his hands on her cheeks while both his thumbs rested on her horns, eliciting a yelp from the Dragoon.

"What are you-"

Now it was the Dragoon's turn to blush madly as the male Loplin placed his forehead onto hers. Now that there was barely any space between the two, Layla finally understood that if need be, Matt could easily overpower her as he stood towering tall and had an iron grip.

"Next time, do me a favor and not touch my tail, much less tug on it. Else I will snap your horns off from your rosy cheeks, got it?" whispered Mattheos as his tone was much more similar to a serpent's voice.

Layla felt fear run through her spine as she tried her best to open her mouth to protest for Matt to let her go. However, the rabbit was serious about the request and she was forced to agree by nodding.

Matt instantly smiled and released the poor Dragoon's cheeks.

"We better get you proper armor if we have any hopes against that Salt Sea Goddess… You don't mind if I bunk in until tomorrow's dusk, right? I'd pay you the Queen's coins if I have to…"

"Why are we only going out tomorrow night?"

"Well, it's too late to travel now and I'd rather move during the time the normal folk are asleep."

"I see… Since I'm going, if you help me settle the payment for my gear then we'll call it even."

"That can be arranged… Besides, I need some time to set up a plan on how to defeat that thing," answered Matt as he moved past Layla and back to the chair.

"You're gonna sleep there?"

"I need to sit down…"

"How come?"

"Because you touched my tail, you grabbed it as if it was a leash on me… How would you feel if I did that to your tail?!"

"Does it hurt that bad?!"

Matt widened his eyes in utter disbelief at Layla's question and was about to get angry again but he then realized that the lady genuinely had no clue. The bunny sighed as Layla walked over and stood beside him.

"When you pull on a living creature's tail, it hurts them… Don't you have one, swinging at the back there? It looks like a mighty fine one…" explained the Loplin, pointing to Layla's shimmering blue tail.

"That's not a tail… I haven't had a tail before…"

Matt's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. Man, he was truly feeling like he was on a rollercoaster tonight.

"Then how are you going to transform?" croaked the poor bunny, unable to figure out anything else to say.

"I can only do half-transformations. Like, I can turn my forearms into talons and increase the size of my wings but that's about it… I told you, I'm not cut out for combat for a reason," elaborated Layla.

Matt then winced in pain, causing the Dragoon to lean closer to him in concern.

"Hey, Matt… I can go search for a healing potion upstairs if you need… I honestly didn't think it would hurt you this bad…"

"The tail doesn't hurt… But I'd like you to point me to my quarters so I can rest, I'm still suffering from the kick you gave me."

Layla looked puzzled in which the bunny gestured her to come closer to whisper something in her ear…

"Tugging my tail is a surefire way to get me into a love-making mood."

That sentence was enough to make the poor girl's cheeks fill with red hue as she stumbled backward in embarrassment. Facing away from Matt, she then stuck out her arm and pointed to a hallway.
