Trees are not easy to grow!

The little girl immediately quickened her steps as she ran away.

She was just a maid in this royal palace and her life was always on the line since the demons who lived here were all a bit crazy.

The longest time a maid had stayed alive here was approximately a month and that was before a demon got used to her and found her face boring which made him decide to kill her right then and there.

When this girl had first heard of this story, she thought it had been exaggerated, but now that she had started working here, she could testify that the rumor was indeed as true as it could get.

Every day was lucky for her simply because she was still alive and she seemed to have avoided danger yet again, so today was another lucky day for her.

The little maid went down to the first floor where there was a study room that was mostly filled with only books and no demons to read them. It was basically an empty library created for only a single person and that person was a demon called Carmen.

He had a face that looked handsome with his features looking soft and one would never be able to guess that such a face belonged to a demon.

She knocked on the door thrice before entering.

Just as she had expected, the man sat alone at the table as he read an old book through his black-rimmed glasses. There was nothing wrong with his eyesight but for some reason, the man always had those pair of glasses on whenever he was reading.

She smiled a little as she saw him. This demon was perhaps the only reason why she ever decided to work here and he was also the reason why she had still not quit her job.

Simply put, if it hadn't been for him, she wouldn't have been here.

Carmen looked up and smiled as he saw her, asking politely with a calm tone, "Is there something wrong?"

The girl blushed as she looked down and shook her head, not daring to meet his eyes as she informed, "The young prince wants to see Sir Carmen."

She could hear the man sigh as he asked, "Is it important? I was reading something really interesting, you see."

The girl looked at the book, but the letters on it were unreadable for her since she hadn't ever learned how to read.

Carmen closed the book and stood up as he took off his glasses and placed them on top of the closed book.

"Thank you for informing me."

The girl bowed her head as she politely responded, "It's nothing, sir."

Carmen chuckled softly as he heard this and walked over towards her only to pat her little head as he passed by her and headed out.

When the demon had left the room, the girl couldn't take the excitement anymore as she squealed and touched her head.

"I made a good decision! It's just like I thought! He is more princely than the real prince!~" The girl sang happily as she voiced out her thoughts since no one could hear her.

Before she started working here, she had only seen the man once or twice and had instantly fallen in love with his kind and gentle personality.

He was like the subtle wind that would bring with it, the fragrance of the world. He seemed harmless and so filled with love that she would have never thought that he was a demon.

She had simply fallen in love with this demon, knowing that she wasn't worthy of receiving back the love she gave. She knew it was impossible, but she was fine with it. As long as she could stay here and talk to him once in a while, she was the happiest person alive and she wouldn't mind dying after knowing that she had once received his kindness.

His beautiful smile was enough of a reason for her to either stay alive or die if he asked her to.

However, that same sweet smile on Carmen's face disappeared as he knocked at the heavy metal door that only a few people could get to go through.

"Come in."

The door couldn't be opened unless the person inside had given an order for it to open so when the prince told the man to enter, the doors opened up on their own.

Carmen entered the room and saw the prince sitting in his chair, looking intently at the fire in front of him.

This scene wasn't too unfamiliar to him. He had seen it before, in fact, it seemed like whenever he came inside the room these days, this was the scene that would always greet him.

This prince seemed to be obsessed with the fire that was alike a surveillance screen.

Everyone and every little thing could be seen through this fire that twisted and turned according to the wants of the person who was controlling it and in this case, it was the demon prince in front of him.

"Do you see that?" The prince asked as he pointed at the fire and Carmen only shook his head in turn.

"Another injured beast?" Carmen sighed as he asked without even bothering to look at the fire.

"The tree! She's injuring the trees now!" The prince shouted in anger, "Do you know how hard it is to grow trees around here?!"

Carmen nodded as he answered, "Of course I know. It was me who planted them."

"She's destroying your precious hard work!"

Carmen couldn't help but chuckle as he heard this, "Wasn't it you who brought her here? Prince Leon, Why are you complaining now?"

Leon was silent as he heard this question. It was him who brought her here as a plaything and it was also him who got tired and tried to get rid of her, but he was never able to and now this girl was starting to get on his nerves.

This prince had always been interested in humans.

He loved the way they were terrified of every small thing that they had never seen before.

He loved the way they screamed and scrambled for their life that was temporary.

Every reaction they gave, he loved, so ever since he was small he had a habit of bringing humans into hell just to have fun with them.

He would watch them be afraid and run for their pitiful lives. In the end, they would all accept their fated death here, thinking that it was all a dream, but how were they to know that they would never be waking up from this terrifying dream?

He had never seen a human who hadn't succumbed to such helpless situations. They would always break and give up.

At first, he thought that this girl was also like them, but the more he observed, the more he was left unsatisfied. Why was this girl so hard to break?! Why did she have to fight?! Why couldn't she just scream for help like all the others?!

Why can't she freaking accept her role as the damsel in distress?!

It was truly annoying for him...!

At one point in time, he had decided that if she were to scream for help, he would actually step in and help her but never, not even once had she screamed for help.

Ever since she had stepped her foot in here, this world had accepted her and would keep dragging her back here as if it had been somehow connected to her by mistake.

Even Leon couldn't do anything about it.

He didn't know what was wrong with the world mirror and why it was acting like this. He tried to investigate more on it and its weird behavior, but the world mirror would refuse to listen to him anymore.

It was as if he had lost control of his powers ever since this girl had shown up and it was slowly driving him insane.

At first, she went around killing all of his beasts, and then she started saving human souls that were punished here. Now she was going around destroying trees that weren't easy to grow! This was unacceptable!

"Tomorrow," Leon gritted his teeth as he spoke, "You go and kill her!"

Carmen shook his head as he responded, "I'm not going to do that."

"You're not going to listen to me?"

"We can't kill humans. Have you forgotten that?"

Leon frowned but said nothing as he stomped his feet on the ground in anger and annoyance.

Carmen, "I'll get the tree fixed. You should get some rest."

Leon didn't respond as he simply glared at the man. His expressions were undecipherable and would have scared almost everyone who saw it, but if there was anyone in this royal palace that wasn't afraid of this prince, it was this demon named Carmen.

Carmen smiled as he took his leave and didn't spare the prince another glance as he stepped out of the room.

To think that he had to leave his precious book at a cliff-hanger just to come here and listen to the prince rant about the girl he had been obsessed with... This was much more annoying for Carmen than his trees that were damaged!

Leon be angry because things didn't go as he planned and Carmen be annoyed by this bratty friend who isn't letting him read peacefully while Alora simply worries about her teacher that wants to fail her...

Cherry: Imagine when they all come together and share their worries and frustration...

Unnamed little maid: It would be a war lol

Cherry: A war of a lifetime *calmly sips chamomile tea*
