Chapter 1 Three good years

~Dani~

"Will you marry me", Dani almost missed a step while walking down the stairs.

'who would have thought a proposal would take place in a place like this' Dani thought. She never imagined a proposal taking place in her working department. Dani walked towards the place, and as expected her fellow workers were all standing expecting the response to the proposal. She walked through and saw them, she couldn't help but whisper his name in confusion and dissatisfaction.

'Carl' came the whisper from her thin lips, immediately it left her mouth, she heard a response to the proposal. Her eyes darted to the lady Carl proposed to.

"Yes, yes" Kate replied to Carl, and the two hugged each other after Carl place the beautiful ring on her finger, the others clapped in cheer. Dani felt her leg wobble at the sight of her..., of Carl proposing to her friend, Kate.

Carl as always been Dani's first love even though their relationship was not strong enough, she always treasured it. She didn't cry but felt disappointed at herself for taking her relationship with Carl to serious, though he isn't guilty because he had always made it clear to her that she was just his best friend and not more than that.

The couple thanked their fellow workers for their cheers until they dispersed and resumed to their duties. Dani however still stood there unaware of her surroundings.

"Dani"Kate called out in front of Dani.

"uhm-m,hi. I mean congrats" Dani forced a smiled as she spoke.

"Thanks, Dani" Kate blushed as she stared at the beautiful ring on her finger. Dani was happy for her friend though, she felt like scolding herself for taking her relationship with Carl to deep within her heart.

"Congratulations, Carl." Dani said to Carl, disappointment was a little evident in her tone which did not escape Kate's notice. Carl smiled back at Dani in response and Dani smiled back at Kate which she also returned.

"So we are waiting for the wedding date, I wish you the best in your marriage" Dani smiled at them.

"Are you happy?"Kate asked Dani.

"..." Dani widened her eyes at Kate's words.

"Do you still love Carl, cause I know you love him. So do you still love him now even with this?" Kate asked, Dani was taken back with Kate's transparency, she looked at Carl who was also shocked at Kate's words. Dani sighed.

"Yes" Dani replied causing Kate to frown and Carl eyes widened like never before.

"No-no, I mean as a best friend. He isn't my enemy so I can't say I don't" Dani said and the two sighed in relief at the same time. Dani couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of their similar behavior.

Dani wasn't the type who loves to throw tantrums or create misunderstanding, she always wants the best for everyone she loved, so it's rare to sees her being in the negative side in any occurrence. And whenever she made mistake she would always tell herself that everything happens for a reason, it's either a blessing or a lesson.

"So let's get back to work" Dani said to Kate, Carl is not a worker in Ainsoft Gaming Company also known as AGC, he is the brother of CEO of Ainsoft Gaming Company, so he won't be scolded for proposing in the company.

Dani headed to her office, she sat down comfortably and heaved a sigh of relief. Dani was an intern in AGC before she became the CEO personal assistant because of her excellent skills.

Dani thought her three good years relationship with Carl as a lesson, but a blessing for Kate. She wondered what fate had in store for her. Dani turned on the laptop in front of her and resumed her duty.
