Chapter 16

Terrified by what he saw Rai hid on the other side of the kitchen door, very vivid fragments of what he saw flashed in his head, but he focused on the most important part. Li Jie was standing exactly in the middle of the kitchen and the same black fog coiled around him, but it extended to the chefs and servants in the kitchen, wrapping itself around them as it had done with Li Jie. Rai held his breath and decided to take another look, as he poked his head through the door, Li Jie was standing there waiting for him. Rai jumped back when Li Jie extended his hand. Rai was frozen in fear, but it was the fear that allowed him to notice the fading of black fog, and a gentle voice calling out to him. "Young master!" said Li Jie as two servants went to fetch Sebastian and Jiao-long. Snapping out of his trance, Rai cursed and stormed off, "Young Master!" said Li Jie as he grasped Rai's shoulder, "Don't touch me!" Rai yelled as he aggressively removed Li Jie's hand. "What's the problem?", Sebastian, who had just arrived along with Jiao-long as his elder sons, asked "Rai?" Jiao-long said seeking an answer, "Nothing…I wanna go home" Rai said waking past Jiao-long.

After Jiao-long apologized for the disturbance, he went home. When they arrived, Rai closed himself in his room and didn't come out for dinner. Rai wanted to get to sleep as fast as possible, that is the only way he can talk to Seraphina, but he couldn't fall asleep, there were too many things on his mind. "Maybe I'll go for a walk," he thought, he glanced over to the rose the Li Jie put in his hair, as he remembered what transpired early he subconsciously touched the strand of hair that was still tucked behind his ear. "Damn that lizard..." he thought as drifted off into the long-awaited sleep he longed for.
