Dragon’s Ego

After laughing and talking for a while, Serena and her mother left. Darien lead the two to the forging room to discuss the equipment he wanted.

"I want fashionable accessories, weapons and armor for both me and Rayna. I have many dragon and Rune Wolf materials so if you use those, it's fine with me."

"Sure but there are three problems, that wolf girl needs soul binding armor which will take longer to make.

I'll also need a small fortune to buy the materials needed, which I don't have.

The biggest problem is the fact that your both just to weak to use the equipment I plan to make, so I'll have to put some limiters on it so that you can slowly cope with it's power."

"What's soul binding armor?"

"Soul binding armor has two effects. One is to be able to equip it whenever so when she transforms, it will transfer to your soul realm and not be destroyed. The second is to make it so no one can equip it other than her."

"Actually make mine soul binding too."

"Why? That will be a waste of materials."

Kyren used [Gene Transformation: Focused Transformation (right arm)] and showcased his arm.

"I'm not exactly human either..."

They both were utterly shocked by this revelation. Rayna knew he wasn't human but she didn't think he was a dragon. As for Darien, he nearly had a heart attack.

After taking a moment to calm down he said in an overwhelmed voice, "So that's why you were so confident in obtaining dragon parts.... You were cutting off your own body parts."

The dots finally connected in Rayna's head as she realized what he had done.

"Don't do that to yourself Master!! I don't need the equipment!!" She clung onto his arm with her whole body and a super concerned expression dawned on her beautiful face. Rayna acted as though he was going to war and might never come back.

He pet her head as he looked into her eyes, "But I have to do this... I need to get the best materials to protect my little pup~"

His gentle words made her heart flutter and she kept quiet.

"I promise not to overdo it just for you~"

Rayna buried her red face into his arms, trying her best to hide from him. She knew he was teasing her but she enjoyed it.

"Ok, I'll make two soul binding sets. About the money—"

Kyren placed 10 platinum coins on the forging desk without hesitation.

"Make it the best you ever made."

"10 platinum!!! Just 800 gold would have been enough-"

"I'll repeat myself again... the-best-you-ever-made. I don't care if you use it all. If you need more, just come to me."

Darien was ecstatic, he could achieve the forgers dream finally.

"I'll need a designer to aid me with the drafting and a mage to do the enchanting."

"Then hire the best, I want a masterpiece."

"And you'll definitely get one with the money you gave me. I don't need your measurements because I plan to put rune adjusting magic on it.

Now all I need are your preferences for armor and weapons.... Let's go to the arena to find the perfect classes for you."

The arena was a massive colosseum looking building that took up a large chunk of the cities Common District. Kassio is one of the few cities that actually own one. Surrounding it are multiple smaller arenas that served many purposes.

The group arrived at one of the smaller arenas and rented it out. Luckily it wasn't very busy today because a fight was going on in the main arena.

When they entered, a vast array of weapons and equipment were rolled in by staff.

"Ok find a weapon you like and start swinging," Darien took out some notes to get ready to record data on their styles.

Kyren grabbed some magic battle gauntlets and two great swords. He tested out the weight to make sure he could handle it.

When everything was all good, he made erratic movements and sliced in the air with the strength of a dragon. The air vibrated with every strike he threw out.

After feeling satisfied with the results he jumped up high in the air and threw the great swords to the ground, making a small crater and a cloud of dust.

'The combat in this game is amazing! I can even feel the adrenaline starting to pump through me!'

Kyren and Rayna both tried many styles but were only satisfied with a few.

Kyren enjoyed the duel wielding greats swords, the scythe, a heavy lance, a mega war hammer, and the gauntlets. He preferred light or medium armor to maintain maneuverability.

Rayna fancied duel wielding great shields and duel wielding one handed axes with light shield on her arms. She really liked heavy armor.

Kyren was greatly surprised by her enthusiasm for a total defensive style but he didn't mind, he was using two great swords for crying out loud. A great sword was obviously a two handed weapon, but he liked the uniqueness of using two massive swords to cause great destruction.

"It seems that Kyren will need to learn the Mega Berserker and Reaper class.

The way he uses gauntlets is more similar to a Martial Artist than a Monk, so learn that class too.

Rayna should learn the Fortress and Viking class. Total offense and perfect defense are a great pair."

"Cool, we'll look into it."

"I suggest you get some communication bracelets and bank stones before you do anything else."

"Alright."

"I'm going to search for a designer to start storming up ideas. I got some inspiration from watching you guys."

Once they left the arena, they split up to do their own things.

Kyren and Rayna bought some communication bracelets and were walking toward the bank.

Communication bracelets used runes to intercept calls like a phone, but the voice is received telepathically. There is a speaker option where the voice comes out of the bracelet itself.

The coolest thing about this invention was that it used mana from the environment instead of service. Mana was everywhere too, so as long as there was mana nearby, he could make unlimited calls!

"Master, is me being interested in defense a bad thing?"

"Absolutely not, your perfect for me~"

Kyren was walking slightly in front so he didn't notice her shy blush.

"Why do you always wear that cloak Master?"

"Haha, if I don't then all the ladies will come swarming me and their partners would strangle me by the neck."

"Surely you jest, you're not pretty enough for that to happen."

He flinched at her retort and multiple arrows pierced his heart.

'You little scoundrel!'

After a while, Rayna's hand gently pulled him back by the sleeve. When he turned around she looked squirmy and hesitant.

"What's wrong?"

"... Can I give you a n-nickname besides master?"

"What did you have in mind?"

"Perhaps... Ren?"

Kyren chuckled at her sheepish and innocent display, "Sure, but only if you let me call you Ray."

"Of course!"

Rayna now hummed a cheerful tune as she continued to hold onto his sleeve.

Onlookers saw this scene as a hooded man leading a gorgeous and innocent girl to some unknown place.

"That poor girl."

"Should we save her?"

"That hoodlum! Leading a perfectly innocent little lady like that to who knows where!"

"Has he no shame!"

The enmity of the surrounding crowd grew at an alarming rate and the harsh comments grew worse.

The bombardment of insults went unnoticed by the fantasizing Rayna but Kyren..... his pride was at an all time low.

"Son of a-" Before he could finish cursing, something violent and untamed started bubbling inside of him.

Absolutely massive amounts of killing intent gushed out of his body without control. The normal humans passed out from fear and the stronger ones fell to their knees.

"M-Master! What's wrong!" She was the only one that didn't look affected but she was frightened by his sudden action.

"CRAP!! I need to get out of here!"

Kyren saw the situation as hopeless. He was having such a good time that he totally forgot about all of the curses on him.

It said if he defended his pride then this violent feeling would go away, but he already sent out killing intent so how was he supposed to fix this situation? He'd have to ask Leo to suppress the killing intent the next time the curse activated.

He launched into the air and darted for the lake near Kassio.

Almost as if it was a planned ambush, the alarm bells started ringing and random mages and guards started firing at him from the streets below with projectiles and spells.

He dodged and weaved but there were to many projectiles being launched at him so he took many hits. His flying proficiency was only at around two right now so how could he possibly dodge everything?

When he looked ahead he noticed the Adventurers Guild was in his path toward the lake.

"Fuck me..."

He increased his speed into overdrive and started pumping mana into his wings to increase his agility.

But of course that didn't help because of the sheer amount of adventurers that came out and shot at him. He felt like a dove being pelted with anti-air missiles and machine guns!

His novice flying skills weren't enough to even dodge a tenth of the projectiles coming at him.

42 seconds...
