23 A Firefly

"System! Stop! Close the Divine Dragon Bloodline Pool!" He exclaimed, feeling a sharp pain in his neck. He had an uneasy feeling about what was going on. His senses were screaming at him that he was in grave danger, and that if he did not stop the process, he would die.

The System's screen began to shake, and he felt as if the entire world was trembling. The System kept the Divine Dragon Bloodline Pool's window open, as if it was ignoring him, or perhaps the System had lost control over it.

According to Ella's explanation, the System appeared to be robotic, with the sole purpose of listening to its Host and assisting him in growing stronger. It was unlikely for the System to ignore him. However, losing control over one of its features would be impossible.

[The System has consumed fifty percent of the Host's mana in order to function properly.]

When Jacob received this message, he began to feel dizzy and hyperventilate, as if breathing more air would restore his mana to its maximum capacity. Perhaps he was a genius, because the mana truly worked in this manner.

However, in order to effectively breathe mana, several theoretical and practical lessons were usually required. It was nothing to laugh at for a young dragon to consider and implement this method in such a dangerous situation, let alone for it to work.

After more breathing exercises, his mana gradually increased until it finally reached the maximum value of his Mana Capacity, which currently was 200 points. Suddenly, the System sent him a new alert, which he welcomed with a sigh of relief.

[Congratulations! Host has obtained the high-level divine dragon bloodline "Eldritch Dragon Bloodline".]

At the same time the System issued the congratulatory message, the mountain lost all of its gleam, revealing the two-colored mountain once more. However, the yellow and brown colors of the crystal stone were fading, as if the mountain desired to be a transparent crystal again.

As the colors faded, a yellow liquid was seen being extracted from the crystal stone at the mountain's base, while a brown liquid was seen on the summit. They were the colors that had previously given the mountain its color.

The yellow and brown liquids flew up into the sky at the same rate they were extracted from the rock, once more forming the words "Divine Dragon Bloodline Pool". The words gradually regained their golden hue, glowing majestically.

After reading the System's message, several new screens appeared in front of his eyes. The screens were filled with all kinds of information about his newly acquired bloodline, but it was too much for Jacob to bear.

After this exhausting experience, his mind was working in overdrive. It was too much information for his tired mind to process and understand, especially since he still could hear the ethereal and otherworldly cries emanating from the crystalline mountain.

[Dragon bloodlines come from the dragon families, whereas ancient dragon bloodlines come from the first dragons to settle in Jamkar. Contrary to popular belief, the dragons were not one of the races created by the Almighty God who created the world.]

[According to Dragon, the First Dragon, the dragons were a race from another universe. One day, ancient and horrifying beings appeared, annihilating their civilizations and devouring worlds. All the living things in the universe were dying, consumed by the horrors.]

[They were given the name of Calamities. The dragon's race had to rely on using their combined power to open a breach in their universe and flee to our world, in order to avoid extinction. The dragons in Jamkar are made up of the survivors of their slaughter.]

[The current dragon's race does not know how the Calamities first appeared in their previous universe, but one thing is certain. Their strength and power were incomprehensible and boundless.]

Jacob became dizzy as he read what his System was telling him, if his mana were being drained once more. He was trying to figure out why it was so important for him to know when all he wanted was an explanation about his new bloodline.

[However, it is said that one of their Dragon Gods, who possessed the ability to absorb foreign's mana, managed to kill a Calamity. His name was Phasma. Despite this, after the battle, Phasma suddenly went insane and killed his companions.]

[It was rumored that when the Calamity died, it corrupted his organism. When a dragon bloodline descends from a Dragon God, it is considered divine. The corrupted divine bloodline of Phasma is the bloodline which now courses through Host's veins.]

For an ex-adventurer like him, this was a lot of information, and it was also difficult to understand. It was more appropriate for a knowledgeable and well-versed academic. They would love to hear about other worlds, universes, and horrific monsters.

For the Gods's sake, he did not even know what the name of the world was, let alone that there were other universes besides the one he was in. This knowledge was wasted on someone like him.

[The Eldritch Dragon Bloodline is a high-level divine dragon bloodline that can be enhanced to become a top-level bloodline. It has the ability to influence the Host's evolutions and magical path. If maximum purity is attained, it allows Host to temporarily wield the power of a Calamity.]

[All of this information was extracted by the System from Book of Universalis, Part VI. Written by Dragon.]

After reading for a few minutes, his eyelids began to feel heavy, and after another couple of minutes, Jacob finished reading all of it and collapsed to the ground, passing out.

At this moment, not far from him, a firefly was freely flying through the Abyssal Forest, coursing through land, sea, and air. Soon after, the firefly came to a halt above a small glade where a pair of white dragons were resting on the ground.

However, the firefly did not fly away. Instead, it flew toward the larger of the two dragons and landed next to him. Suddenly, the firefly grew in size, becoming larger and larger, until it was large enough to no longer be mistaken for a firefly.

In its place stood a human with golden skin. He had attractive features, which most likely made him popular with women, as well as a pair of large horns covered in runes on his forehead. His eyes were completely black, with peculiar red marks beneath them.

The golden man stood in the glade, staring at the bigger white dragon before transforming into a small firefly and rushing toward his head.

When the firefly came into contact with the dragon's scales, it did not slow down and continued on its way, passing through his scales, as if the firefly existed in a parallel universe. However, the firefly was not seen emerging from the other side of the dragon's head.
