1 Life as a drifter on earth pt.1

Space, is the final frontier, at least that's what Earthlings think, but to most, it's like a big country, some stay on their respective planets for their entire lives, some travel across the stars, and few use them for trade purposes, the biggest example is the North Galaxy's largest dominating force known as the Frieza Empire formerly known as the Cold Empire controlled by the tyrannical ruler Lord Frieza, this empire rules most of North Galaxy and was feared by everyone in it.

Headed from Frieza Planet-477 was a black spaceship with blue accents, it wasn't in top condition, being covered in old scratches on its paint job and an older model, it wasn't a large ship nor was it a small one like the single-passenger pods that most Frieza soldiers used, the ship had been in travel for about a month but Frieza Planet-477 was just a pit stop, it's destination was one of the few planets that weren't under Frieza's control, Earth.

when the ship got close to Earth it landed in a desert where there were no civilization miles, a ramp extended from the ship as its entrance slid open, and out came a cloaked figure, the only part of the figure that isn't covered is the boots that it wears and right when the figure stepped onto the desert sand, the ship seemed to distort as light blended around it eventually making it invisible, the figure looked around before it began slowly levitating off the ground, rising higher into the air before flying south-east.

Papaya Island, a landmass as big as a small continent even though it's called an island, is the home to the biggest martial arts tournament in the world, the Tenka'ichi Budōkai, also known as the World Martial Arts Tournament, a tournament that was held once every five years but after the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai it takes place once every three years, high above the city containing the tournament was the cloaked figure looking down at the tournament, a gloved hand reached up and pressed a button on a headpiece covered in shadow, soon a part of the headpiece glowed faintly as it made a rapid beeping noise, "the highest power level here is 278, close behind that is 264, compared to my power level this might make for a fair fight, I'd better join this little tournament." The figure's voice was a deep, rough voice, the figure landed in a nearby alleyway and walked towards the tournament grounds, and stood in the line where he assumed people signed up to join.

The figure signed up under the name Jabara and was led towards the area behind the main temple where the preliminaries took place, and where other fighters waited, Bergamo looked around at the other fighters, to him most of them were weak, though the ones that stood out to him was a group where most of them wore similar gi's, and a tall green man with pink biceps wearing a purple gi, a turban, and a cape with shoulder pads, What the hell is a Nemekian doing here? Jabara thought.

Soon the preliminaries have begun inside and Jabara's first opponent was, a cyborg that went by the name Tao Pai Pai, It's so primitive, I can already tell that its only weapons are a blade and a small laser cannon, and on someone so weak, such a wast of mechanical potential, Jabara thought to himself as the two stepped onto the raised platform, the gong rang loudly, signifying that the match has begun, Tao charged at Jabara as he stood there, but suddenly when Tao was close enough to strike, he was launched not just away from Jabara, who was standing still, or the stadium but through the temple wall and way past that, only two people saw what happened clearly and only a small handful of people were barely able to see what happened out of everyone in the entire temple.

What sent Tao flying was a combo of punches followed by a kick that sent him flying by Jabara, the temple grew silent, the only other time something like that happened was six years ago in a previous tournament when an entire section of a fight happened in 0.2 seconds, so fast that portion had to be re-enacted slowly for the audience to catch up.

Jabara re-adjusted his gloves as he got ready for his next round, did I hit him too hard? I hope he's okay. He thought, he then felt a couple of intense stares, and he saw the Nemekian glaring at him, Jabara could feel a lot of darkness enveloping most of the Nemekian's energy, Jabara then looked over and saw one of the people wearing an orange gi looking at him, a man with black spiky hair looking at him not with malice, but with curiosity.

After that Jabara fought seven other opponents that were even weaker, at this point he was a little bored, and after waiting for 56 more fights he could finally move on to the quarter-finals, Jabara listened to the rules carefully, there were main rules, the first one is if a contestant touches the ground outside of the ring or is knocked down for ten counts then they have lost the tournament, the second rule is no strikes to the eyes or groin unless accidental, fourth rule weapons or protective armor is strictly forbidden, and the most obvious rule, no killing allowed.

Jabara understood most of the rules, though the second rule was something he couldn't really understand why it was there, all the previous tournaments he went to allowed those type of strikes, but he had to accept it, but now everyone gets a full nights rest and come back tomorrow for the main tournament.

Authors Note: The name Jabara is a pun, named after a type of citrus under the same name, I decided to follow Toriyama's (Or Toyotaro's) footsteps and name this character after a citrus fruit, so I looked up all the citrus fruits and pick the one I liked the most, if you know who Jabara is, leave a comment and if you got it right, I'll leave a reply.
