Chapter 8: The Wise Elder!

An alarm went off in a small round vessel, a vessel which was currently speeding its way through the universe. Waking from slumber its occupant, a youth with spiky black hair, pressed a small red button near his hand. The occupant was Arlic, he had been in stasis for almost five weeks. Cracking his neck, he looked at the holo-display in front of him. He was about to enter Planet Yardrats atmosphere, pressing a few buttons to ensure his trajectory didn't land him in any cities, he nodded.

Noticing a small red dot on the display just above the planet's outer atmosphere, his expression soured. "What's a [Frieza Force] ship doing here?" Shaking his head, he decided it didn't matter. His only concern now was that they could notify Frieza, he was nowhere near strong enough for that kind of fight. That said, he wasn't about to run either.

"I have too much to gain on this world. Fear will only slow my plans down. If I need to run, I'll just get one of the native Yardratians to help me, by force if necessary." With resolve in his eyes, Arlic continued his ships descent. The [Space Pod] began its entry, coming down near a tall, almost skyscraper-like grouping of rocks. Climbing out of the small crater his ship made on landing, he looked around, his sight soon settling upon the yellow sky.

"Welcome to Planet Yardrat, Saiyan." Startled as he hadn't sensed anyone approaching, Arlic looked for the source of the voice. Standing a small distance away, a small reddish- pink skinned Yardratian was gently smiling at him. "He...he. Hello!" Arlic stuttered, equal parts flustered and excited. He knew that Yardratians were sensitive to energy, but he had not expected to be discovered so soon. Still flustered, as this was the first person to speak with him in this new reality. It had been a long time since he was around others, with only himself to talk to.

"I have been instructed to guide you to one of our elders. Would you please take my hand?" Saying so, the young Yardratian held his hand out toward Arlic. The only elder Aric could think of was Pybara, the very person he wanted to be his teacher. Though he knew that the teacher he was seeking had far-reaching knowledge, Arlic didn't expect Pybara to know about him personally. Figuring that the man wanted to teleport them directly to the elder, Arlic simply nodded, walking towards the Yardratian. He stopped briefly to confirm his guess, thinking that it might come off as odd if he showed no suspicion.

In his childish voice, he wore an inquisitive expression and respectfully asked his question. "Tell me. Who are you, and who is this Elder we're going to meet?" The Yardratian answered Arlic as if he were a schoolteacher, which came off as a bit laughable considering his size. "My name is Inaki, and we are going to meet Elder Pybara. He is a truly kind man so I am certain you will like him. All you have to do is take my hand, we will arrive soon after." Offering his hand again, Inaki waited patiently. Smiling brightly as his guess wasn't wrong, Arlic stepped forward and grabbed Inaki's hand. Placing his index and middle finger to his brow, Inaki smiled brightly, knowing he had completed his task.

[Instant Transmission] was a technique that used both [Ki Control] and [Ki Sense] in order to locate a specific target. It then disperses and reforms the molecules that make up the body in order to transport its user from their own location to the target's location. In short, the technique achieves spatial travel via molecular manipulation. Even in this reality, [Instant Transmission] was an impressive technique.

Inaki arrived with Arlic in tow. Motioning him inside, Inaki smiled yet again. Nodding while half-heartedly returning his smile, Arlic walked inside the large dome roofed building in front of him. Walking through the halls of this building made Arlic feel a little out of place. He was only recently living in the wilds of a primitive world; he was still wearing his animal skin waist garment. Inaki following behind him, with both quickly arriving before the elder.

Seeing them approach, Elder Pybara, a large bulky blue skinned Yardratian that looked much different than Inaki, greeted them. "Welcome, you two!" He motioned at Inaki. "You did well. Please, go and rest before you return to your training." Inaki nodded, replying quickly and with great humility. Thank you, Elder! I will do just that." He nodded towards Arlic before he left, that same gentle smile on his lips.

Placing two fingers to his brow, Inaki vanished leaving only Elder Pybara and Arlic in the large room. About to greet his prospective teacher, Arlic cleared his throat. Before he could even speak, the elder chuckled. "Ha-ha. You do not have to pretend with me, child. Your eyes betray your true age." Slightly stunned, Arlic put up his guard, wondering what else the old man knew. Not letting him wonder for long, Pybara continued.

"You need not be alarmed, child. I do not know all your secrets, and I have no intention to pry into them." Pybara held his hands up in a non-threatening gesture before putting them back down and smiling. "You came to this world in order to hone your skills and learn our ways, yes? I am more than happy to teach you, should you be willing to learn." Hearing this, Arlic briefly thought about leaving, Pybara knew more than he let on. Knowing Frieza's men were nearby somewhere didn't help matters either.

Pybara looked Arlic straight in the eyes and smiled deeply, seeming to know what he was thinking, he continued speaking. "As you came here with full knowledge of who I am, is it not fair I know something of you." Laughing while he patted his belly, the elder spoke on. "I promise you will grow stronger by learning from me. Stronger than even you have imagined." Looking into the distance he finished his words. "You also have nothing to fear from Frieza, child. His father sent a prospective student to learn from us, nothing more." Pybara went quiet, still looking into the distance as he allowed Arlic time to think.

Arlic ridiculed himself for losing his calm. He had already decided not to fear Frieza. Just as Pybara had said, Arlic knew a great deal about the elder, a great deal about this reality in fact. That was perhaps the sole advantage of being reincarnated. He no longer knew what he was so fearfully hesitant for, he had already died once after all. What did it matter if his secrets where known by others, that wouldn't change anything, other than making him more cautious. He reminded himself that only one thing mattered in this reality. Power!

Recalling that mind reading was possible and most likely what the elder was doing, Arlic thought only of his immediate goal. Stepping forward, Arlic bowed to Elder Pybara. "I would like nothing more than to learn from you, Elder Pybara!" Smiling Pybara welcomed him as a student, materializing clothing from thin air, Pybara assigned him a room and allowing him to change. He then took him to a room in which other students were training. Among them was a familiar face that made Arlic cringe inwardly. He now knew why there was a Frieza Force ship in orbit.
