Dragon Ball: Rise of the Saiyan

Acala had never put much stock in the afterlife. Reincarnation was the last thing she expected—especially not as a Saiyan baby with an impressive power level of 700. But life, or rather, her second shot at it, had something else in store for her. Eight years passed and she found herself standing at trial in front of the notorious coward, King Vegeta. The planet's situation was nothing short of a soap opera, with Frieza, the notorious 'Planet Seller,' holding the reins and the Saiyans working as his infamous 'Planet Pirates.' What happened was that Acala's parents chose the worst possible time to start a revolution. Part, or rather leaders of the radical faction, they aimed to overthrow both Frieza and King Vegeta on Prince Vegeta's naming ceremony. Unsurprisingly, it got most of them and most of their comrades and relatives executed. The children were spared from the massacre but banished to the deathworld of Xarrack to survive or perish... mostly to perish of course. Xarrack was a nightmare, on the first day their numbers plummeted by a quarter. The second day found Acala standing in the middle of an endless plain, the grass swaying gently in the wind, and a rabbit munching on her tail, "Not again!"

Chapter: 1

Planet Xarrak, Northern Hemisphere.

The wasteland planet's sky bled crimson as a volley of descending space pods tore through its atmosphere. It was a lonely speck of sand and rock, its surface mostly covered with rock formations, dead trees, or the vast forests of dead trees. The dry land comprised about 2/3rd of the planet's total surface, with 1/3 covered in poisonous green water.

As the space pods reached a certain altitude, some of them activated their landing propulsion modules to slow down their descent, but not all. Most of the glowing red spherical objects hurtled down toward the planet's surface, picking up speed as they cut straight through the atmosphere.

There was a deafening boom as one after the other, the pods slammed onto the surface, shaking the ground and creating large craters wherever they landed.

One of them landed in a sandy clearing, kicking up a dust cloud as it stirred the air, turning the already inhospitable atmosphere even more deadly. The air crackled with electricity and the sand blanketed almost everything in the vicinity.

The air turned quiet once all the pods had crash-landed on the planet, some hovered to a safe landing spot while the others crashed headfirst into the ground. The air was quiet except for the hissing noise made by the milky-white spherical vehicles as they began cooling down.

Acala was sleeping when her pod crashed into a dune, her eyelids trembled as she started to wake up from all the ruckus. The interior of the pod was filled with bright red emergency lights, it made her pale skin and white hair glow eerily. She blinked her crimson eyes, trying to shake off the impact of being asleep for over half a year.

She fumbled a little, searching for the release mechanism, but nothing happened even after she pushed the switch. Instead, a neutral robotic voice annoyed something.

[Error... Critical Systems fail-]

Acala snarled, her species' instincts kicking in before logic could and with a burst of strength, she ripped the hatch open.

Outside, the air was thick and heavy, almost choked with dust, not to mention the gravity was higher than what she was used to. A scorching heat shimmered off the sand, distorting the distance of her vision, but she could still see the other pods that had landed with her. Some pods were already open, most were ripped off like hers, and the other Saiyan children like herself emerged cautiously into the hostile world.

A sudden movement caught her attention—she noticed some of the pods nearer to her were acting funny, their hatches were opened higher than any of the children could have ripped them open. The one nearest to her began to beep before the hatch opened and revealed a girl her age, curling up as the same artificial voice repeated again and again;

[Wake up, Spina! Destroy all lifeforms!]

Before she could make sense of those words, a light beam shot up high into the air, covering the skies in darkness. Overhead, a colossal projection began to take shape, drawing power from all the space pods that had managed to land safely.

Acala shielded her eyes from the bright light, stumbling backward a little as she realized what exactly was being projected into the sky, an artificial moon. A low growl escaped her lips when she saw the massive projection of a full moon.

The change was instantaneous, one moment she was staring at the sky, and the next her body grew in size, bones cracked, muscles bulged, and her heart beat faster and harder by the moment. Her hair lengthened and bristled, standing on end, and silver fur appeared all over her limbs. She let out a scream that turned into a deep and powerful roar, echoed by the rest of the Saiyan children who underwent the same transformation.

Some were still trembling inside their pods, their eyes glowing red and bodies contorting and expanding, others had already finished the Great Ape transformation for good.

While the others still struggled with their powers, Acala towered over the wasteland. Her Oozaru form was far different from the others, a sight straight out of a nightmare; a massive albino ape with snow-white hair, burning scarlet eyes, and blood-stained fangs that roared at the sky.

She roared again, but this time an energy shock wave erupted from her mouth, and moments later a huge mushroom cloud rose in the distance. The flaming ashes rushed into the sky, blotting out the stars and the artificial moon for an instant before reappearing.

Roares of approval and triumph filled the air as some fifty or so giant apes with their primal instincts awakened by the artificial moon, began to rampage. Each of them, including the albino, tore through the dead forest and hills, reveling in their newfound strength and aggression. The harsh environment was nothing when compared to the destructive power of the Oozaru, the Great Ape, or in this case, fifty or so Great Apes.

Suddenly, a guttural roar rippled through the air, drawing attention to the rising dust cloud in the distance. The sandstorm was making its way toward them, perhaps it was one of the native creatures of the planet, sensing the presence of another predator in its territory.

A feral grin split the already monstrous face of the albino ape, it let out a deafening roar of challenge, beating its chest and howling into the air. Its challenge was met with a chorus of howls from the others, they too seemed excited at the prospect of a good fight.

Acala's crimson eyes gleamed with bloodlust as the Sandstrom drew nearer, without a shadow of a doubt, whatever creature was hidden within would be a worthy opponent. Xarrak was known for its formidable wildlife, and it seemed one of its apex predators had come out to investigate the sudden intrusion on its territory.

A monstrous figure emerged from the storm, a colossal worm that dwarfed even the Giant Apes. Its long, ship-like body was covered in tough, scaled skin, and instead of a head, it had a massive circular maw lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth.

The worm charged at the gathering of Giant Apes, who roared and charged back, their massive fists pounding into the creature's scaled hide. The worm was surprisingly nimble for its size, lashing out and sending several of the Apes sprawling into the distance with its powerful body.

With a deafening roar, the largest of the Great Apes charged, their giant fists hammering into the worm's hide. The creature barely flinched, instead coiling its body around one of them and squeezing down hard. The Great Ape struggled desperately, its muscles bulging as it tried to break free.

The worm brought its maw down on the Great Ape's head, crushing it with a sickening crunch before spitting out the severed head. Vile green liquid covered the head, hissing and smoking until the skin melted off the skull.

Undeterred by the loss of one of their own, the other Oozaru lunged at the creature's head, slashing with claws and hammering fists and feet into its hide, searching for a weak spot. The worm hissed as the Albino Oozaru sank its fist into what might have been the creature's eyes, while others managed to tear a large opening in the creature's side, exposing raw flesh.

Taking advantage of the distraction, those that had been swept away came charging back with massive boulders, shattering them against the creature's body and sending shards of broken stone deep into the exposed bits under the armored skin.

The balance finally tilted in the Saiyans' favor when two of them grabbed onto the worm's tail, pulling with all their might while the rest hammered, bashed, clawed, and smashed against its head and exposed sides. The ground shook from the battle between titans, sand, and stones flying everywhere as giants fought for territory.

With a mighty heave, the Oozaru lifted the worm off the ground, swinging it into a nearby rock formation. The impact cracked the stones and exposed the worm's soft underbelly. The Albino leaped high into the air, coming down with both fists onto the creature's exposed underbelly. Armored plates cracked under the blow, and the worm writhed in agony.

Suddenly, the creature gave a great roar of pain, striking with vicious speed and grabbing one of the Oozaru in its maw, slicing through fur and flesh alike.

In a final, desperate attempt, the Albino unleashed a powerful blast of energy from its mouth, a beam of light that struck the worm square on its exposed underbelly. The creature screamed wildly as the energy beam pierced through its skin and into something vital. It collapsed, twitching in its death throes

The Oozaru stood victorious over the lifeless body of the colossal worm that had challenged them. They roared triumphantly, the Albuni Oozaru, still crackling with energy from its final blast, beat its chest with pride.

However, the celebrations were cut short as more and more roars answered their cries of triumph. The Albino turned its head, eyes narrowing as it scanned the horizon. The earth trembled once more, and from beneath the sands, more colossal worms emerged. These new creatures were just as massive if not more, their circular maws gaping and lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth.

The Albino took a step forward and with a roar that shook the very air, it charged headfirst into the fray, its powerful body tense and muscles coiling and releasing like springs.

The Titans met head-on, first met armored hide and tails whipped the air as the nimble Oozaru dodged and landed blow after blow. The wasteland echoed with the sound of fury as their first encounter turned into a battle of titanic proportions.

After all, the fight for survival had just begun.
