51 Shooting Star? (51)

A young green-skinned woman looked out of the window in her spaceship, bored. She had short green hair and a slender curvy build. She wore a dark green scouter on her left eye and was wearing standard battle armour.

"When will we get to Planet Imecka?" Cheelai said impatiently.

An older orange-skinned man stared fixedly at his a navigation radar that thrummed green as the line moved about in circles, a green dot slowly getting closer and closer.

"About....50 minutes," Lemo said patiently, answering Cheelai for the fifth time.

Cheelai groaned softly.

"There's nothing to do in this tiny prison, at least the other ship had a pool table and games to play," Cheelai said, complaining again.

"You stole that ship," Lemo said quietly.

"And? We're Freiza Force! We shouldn't be flying through the galaxy in rusted tin cans!"

Lemo sighed warmly.

"You treat the fact that you're a Freiza Force agent a bit too boldly, you'll scare everyone else off," Lemo advised.

"That's the idea Lemo, you know better than I do the universe is filled with a bundle of creeps and weirdos, that's why you need to have protection," Cheelai said, closing her eyes as she stretched over her seat.

"Your not wrong but if you knew that why did you bother coming into recruitment anyway?"

"The training process for Freiza's soldiers is downright ineffective, the higher-ups either only care for themselves or are complete sadists. Not to mention that the weak ones are treated like pawns," Cheelai continued.

Lemo kept silent waiting for Cheelai to continue.

"And I'm not book-smart enough to get anywhere important on the technical side, so I thought 'Hey, I'm good at talking to people' and chose recruitment, the protection that comes with being part of the Freiza Force is too good to pass up," Cheelai finished.

"I won't lie to you, we see a lot of funny things in this industry and a few toughs feel a certain way about Freiza's army, so don't be afraid to give an alien the good ol' blaster to the face," Lemo advised warmly.

Cheelai chuckled.

"Trust me, I know my way around a gun," Cheelai said, slipping her fingers around the blaster at her hip.

"How long until we get to Planet Imecka?"

Lemo looked back at the radar, squinting this time as more planets had come upon the reading.

"About...48 minutes"

Cheelai grunted and squirmed restlessly before defeatedly looking out the window, her eyes browsing the same planets that had been in view a few minutes ago.

Cheelai's eyes widened.

'What in the...'

A huge flying green ball streamed into view, it was travelling away from their ship but it was so large it still appeared in their view as it ran through space. It was the strangest thing Cheelai had ever seen, it was a dark green sphere with patches of light green colours blotched into it, it had dark green energy waves arcing around it and shimmered brightly against the black of space.

The ball was larger than most of the planets in the atmosphere but was moving so quickly in a direction that was against the gravitational pull of the stars in the solar system.

"A shooting star!" Cheelai called out excitedly, she had heard about them before but had never seen one with her own two eyes.

"A shooting star?" Lemo said confusedly.

As their rank in the Freiza force was relatively low, the ship they used to recruit was barely passable, fortunately, Lemo had worked as a mechanic on his home planet so he made a multitude of adjustments and boosts to the spacecraft.

An achievement he was proud of was being able to detect asteroids and shooting stars yet when he looked at his radar he saw nothing.

'That's strange'

"And it's going to hit a Planet!" Cheelai said looking out the window excitedly, this was the first time she saw something like this.

Lemo scoffed.

"That's another thing Cheelai, space is horribly deceptive," Lemo said staring at space focused.

"What looks like a few meters is actually a thousand miles and over that! You have to keep a keen eye-"

"It's colliding!"

The huge orb melted into the surface of the planet, the huge orb crumbling onto the outer layer and continued to diminish until...

"Uh?! No explosion?"

Cheelai looked at the sight, not understanding what was happening.

The orb continued to diminish, on the surface chunks of the orb forcefully flying away from it and a huge green smoke screen wafted over the planet as it melted.

"Lame!" Cheelai shouted disappointedly.

Lemo chuckled, "In space, there isn't an atmosphere, things aren't as interesting as you would think," speaking from experience.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

A huge wave of ki burst out from the collision, green, red and yellow colours jumping away silently as the planet exploded forcing waves upon waves of pure unfiltered energy to roar from it.

One of these energy waves smashed into the humble people-carrier Cheelai and Lemo were flying in.

"Woooooohooooooo!"

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

If their ship was walking before it was now sprinting at full speed, the energy maliciously ramming into the side flinging the ship across space. Cheelai and Lemo both screamed as the safety belt forcefully tied them to their seats, the knockback from the movement causing Cheelai's hair to fly backwards.

"It's beautiful," Cheelai said, looking at the various colours racing about in space.

Lemo tapped various buttons on the ships navigation centre quickly, trying to use the momentum from the blast to get to Imecka quicker.

The ship made a smooth turn, it's body curving through space and eventually began to drift towards Imecka faster than before.

"That was so fun!" Cheelai said, her heart still racing.

"Cheelai..."

"Yeah?"

"That wasn't a planet"

"Huh? Then what was it?"

"A star!"

"A star?"

"A star! And a medium-sized one at that! You just witnessed the birth of a supernova!"

"Do things like that happen often?" Cheelai asked, still staring at the pretty flying colours.

"That was the first time I've experienced something like that in my professional career," Lemo said shocked.

A small flashing red light began to glow on the face of the navigation system.

"That's not good!"

"What happened?"

"It seems like we're going to be stuck on Planet Imecka for a while, the fuel tank gave out," Lemo said, doing his best to manage the situation.

"How long until we get there?"

"About...12 minutes"

Cheelai let out a soft groan as she waited.
