Chapter Twelve

Silently following the Dragokin to the river, we waited for him to get in and go under the water. Afterwards, I let a naked Hope cannonball the river so he couldn't see her unless he popped his head up. While all of that was happening, I was creeping closer to the river to grab him from behind. And before you say anything, I already said no homo about 50 times so you can't complain.

Anyway, the Dragokin did pop his head up, but threw a weapon at her almost immediately after spotting her. I immediately ran across yr he water and caught the knife...in my arm.

"Arg-- What's he doing with a dragon weapon??" I said through gritted teeth. While under normal circumstances, a human weapon would barely leave a scratch. Dragon weaponry was a different matter altogether, considering they were make from any part of a dragon. Have fun with the imagination.

Anyway, Hope was just standing there, I don't know if it was because of surprise or shock, but she was frozen, mumbling. Suddenly, there was chains flowing around her and our target was locked up in a chain jail cell.

I don't know why I thought this was a good idea, but I jumped in as well. I wanted to know his power and maybe have a chat, but he wasn't giving any chances to even try to speak. He threw a chain at me after touching the cage, but I easily dodged it. I pulled out the new sniper from my shadow as I shot towards him, trying to interrupt his attacks, but he was deflecting them with a shield. Hope, noticing this, tried to take the shield with her control, but it wasn't budging.

"How can you use her powers? That shouldn't be--" I yelled before a chain hit my side. Then it hit me like a brick. I spoke in Dragokin tongue and he stopped to answer my question.

"I copy abilities and use them. How can you speak my language so fluently?"

"Cause it's not your language. I was part of your tribe."

That's when I heard it. "Isn't this a freshwater river?" I asked nervously. He nodded his head. "It's closer to the sea, why?"

I looked over, and a huge wave came flying down the river. "Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me..." was all I said as we all got hit by the wave.
