Chapter Seven

We stayed in silence as I closed the portal to the others. Hope was blushing and looking away from me. I don't blame her; I would've done the same if the that happened to her in front of me. Finally, she broke the silence after about 30 minutes of walking down a mountain to the city of Baltugore, a black-market city.

"So, what made you want to be an assassin, Night?" She asked, still blushing.

I stopped, never has anyone asked that to me. "It felt like my kind of work. They took a lot from me, even my soul is in pieces. If it wasn't for the Dragon Goddess Obsidian, I wouldn't have been able to regain some of my soul." I took a knife and made a small cut over my heart. The cut glowed a soft blue as a circle drew itself in my skin, opening to show a fragmented orb.

"So pretty" Hope said in awe.

As the seal applied itself, I continued on down the mountain. "But that wasn't what you wanted to ask, was it?" I said as I walked. "Well no, that wasn't what I wanted to ask," she said as she turned red, "I don't know how to word this, but-"

She stopped as a small "flaming arrow" came flying past her nose.

"THE FUCK WAS THAT??!" she screamed in tongue.

"Why now? These guys are relentless." I said as I threw a smoke bomb at them and extended my wings. I forgot some countries are more advanced than others in terms of weapons. That had to be a flame compressor on a crossbow. "Let's go, unless you want to be burned from the inside." I said, taking flight. Hope was right behind me, silently freaking out at what happened.

Landing in the forest on the mountain, we stayed on the branches and assessed the situation of the ones who attacked us. The group who tried to ambush us consisted of a made, two tanks, a swordsman and a sniper. "Seems the shot missed the target," the sniper said. But when I saw the weapon the sniper used, I was shocked.

"What's wrong, Night?" Hope's voice rang in my head.

"Will you not randomly jump in my head? That's really annoying." I said, rolling my eyes.

"I find it fun, mainly cause i can see what your thoughts, you naughty little Dragokin. Seeing me naked-"

"ANYWAY," I said through the connection, interrupting Hope, "the weapon of choice for a sniper is usually a crossbow. But this sniper carries an unusual weapon. One that I haven't seen before."

"Is it the one between your legs?" Hope chuckled through the connection. "Shut it." I said turning red.

As I said that, the mage spotted me and launched some fireballs at me. "SHIT!!! HOW DID HE GET THROUGH THE BARRIER?" the mage yelled. "Hey Hope, are you willing to marry someone who kills?" I said through the connection. My eye glowed red as I pulled out one of my knives. As my blade met the mage's neck, Hope hopped down and chains grabbed the mage, holding her down as I decapitated her.

"We both have blood on our hands, my love. Why would I love you any less?" Hope responded.

"Well then, let's bag us a sniper" I said softly to her.
