1 What just happened?

Have you ever pondered the existence of creatures that are the size of giant cars and that breathed fire that could melt the toughest of metals?

Instead of wondering wether or not they existed, why not just become one and transport yourself to another dimension while you're at it!

Such was the case of one poor soul who had never asked for anything more than the newest fantasy VR game that christmas.

....

She was a normal girl from a normal family working a normal salary job.

Other than being quite skilled at video games and puzzle solving, she was the epitome of mediocrity.

However this had never bothered her in the slightest, more she took pride in her normalcy, quite the feat.

Her only passion in her life was video games, She adored them, instead of using her salary to buy the newest makeup products and name brand clothing, she bought the new assassin's creed (which is really great btw).

On christmas eve, being single and having a not so great relationship with the rest of her family, she went out to buy her own presents because of course her presents wouldn't appear magically under her nonexistent christmas tree!

She was currently powerwalking towards a large store with posters portraying wizards and warriors fighting mystical creatures and whatnot. Ignoring the grand posters, she waltzed right into the store.

she walked with no hesitation from years of experience navigating the store, she soon arrived at her destination, the new games section where you could buy the newest VR headset along with the newest VR fantasy game in a set, it was a deal!

After purchasing the game and using up most of her savings, she power walked home.

She lived in a small apartment complex with about 8 apartments, the typical japanese one's. She knew all her neighbors, mostly housewives waiting for gossip or taking care of their kids but overall nice people.

Ignoring her neighbors who greeted her with smiles on their faces as they watched her rush up the stairs and almost trip. It wasn't like they were waiting for a response but none ever came.

Back in her humble abode, our main character who's name shall finally be revealed, fumbled with her keys as she locked the door behind her, still in a rush she didn't even think to turn the lights on and grabbed her shopping bag that contained her precious treasures, and ran to her bedroom.

Lucille, an Asian girl who's parents thought it was a great idea to give her a French name, unceremoniously slammed open the door to her bedroom, ran to her gamer chair, plugged in the VR headset after throwing a quick glance at the instructions and hastily unwrapped the new game she had purchased.

Lucille carefully placed the VR headset over her eyes and turned it on. A green light flashed a few times before the headset suddenly started to squeeze Lucille's head.

Lucille panicked as she tried desperately to take off the headset. While trying to remove the headset, she didn't realize that half of her body had turned into white pixels and was slowly disappearing.

Lucille thought " ooh shit what have I done?", she should have read the instructions more attentively but it was too late for that, her whole body had been pixelated save for her her face.

She cried out for help but her attempts were futile and pretty soon her whole body was pixelated. In a flash of bright white light, the girl disappeared. Her new headset fell on her chair with a muffled thud and then, the room that was once filled with the girl's panicked screams fell silent...

Silence greeted Lucille as she slowly opened her eyes, a wide expanse of... white? spread out before her.

It took her a few minutes to orient herself and sort out her emotions cus man was she a mess. her long black hair looked like she had run towards a tornado and somehow come out alive. She was wearing the most casual outfit known to man, a tank top and some sweat pants that looked like they were hand me downs from her grandfather.

Basically she was a mess both on the outside and the inside. After a few minutes of her staring into the white void that surrounded her, a voice suddenly rang loud and clear in Lucille's ears : "welcome to the newest VR game, Taflheim online, you are set to spawn in Daskar, a country to the north of the Taflheim continent. Before spawning, you are required to choose a race and *static"

Another voice interrupted the monotone voice that sounded like google translate, this one sounded more human, like it was talking to her through the system or something like that "*ahem Can you hear me?" the voice took on an inquisitive tone.

Not knowing what to say, Lucille frantically nodded her head. Before she could ask any questions the voice went on:

"You have been transported inside of the Taflheim world due to unknown technical reasons meaning you are an anomaly in the system and if you don't get out now you will be attacked by the game's protection protocols! The only thing I can do is send you into the game! Good luck!".

With that, the voice stopped abruptly and Lucille was once again thrown into a world of black as she fell unconscious and was sent to the world of Taflheim not knowing what awaited her...
