Chapter 13: The Shadow in the Night

Ava's vow to protect the dragon was put to the test sooner than she expected. As night fell over the village, a shadowy figure crept through the streets, searching for the creature.

Ava, sensing the darkness in the air, stood guard beside the dragon's lair. She could feel the weight of the prophecy bearing down upon her, and she knew that she was the only one who could keep the dragon safe.

As the shadow drew closer, Ava's heart raced with anticipation. She knew that she had to be brave, no matter what lay ahead.

And then, out of the darkness, a figure emerged. It was a tall, gaunt man with eyes that glowed like embers in the dark.

"Where is the dragon?" he hissed, his voice like a snake slithering through the grass.

Ava stood tall, her heart pounding in her chest. "I won't tell you," she said, her voice firm.

The man sneered, his eyes flashing with anger. "Foolish girl," he spat. "You don't know what you're up against."

And with that, he vanished into the night, leaving Ava to wonder what lay ahead.
