Understanding

Treasca must have dozed off the sound of the water had been so relaxing. Apparently magical sleep was not as good as normal sleep, because she still felt a bit groggy. She rubbed here eyes, and walked to the waters edge then splashed water on her face to clear her mind. She started down the path it felt good to be in motion, but she knew she should ease into it. The sky had dimmed, she wondered just how long she had been napping. Her stomach growled at her, but she ignored it for now. She didn't want to eat dinner with that loud mouth ass. She really just wanted her mother just then. The path she followed eventually looped back around to the stairs of her room. Delyn stood on them looking just slightly concerned. He bowed to her and said a bit breathlessly, " I was beginning to think you had become lost. I see you found your brides gift from the king. He worked really hard on it these last few days."

"Are you telling me he made all of that for me?" Treasca asked impressed in spite of herself.

"Yes my lady, he is quite a skilled mage. Gifted even for a dragon actually." Delyn nodded leading her back up the stairs. " His Majesty sends his regrets for not dining with you this evening, but he has pressing matters to attend to. I have brought you meal to your room. If you require any entering there is a rather large library just across the hall ment for your personal use. I shall lay out the meal then leave you for a peaceful evening. His Majesty will entertain you tomorrow. He expects you for breakfast in the morning, so I shall lay out your dress as well....." Delyn droned on and on Treasca tried to listen, but really the man never seemed to shut up. He was still nattering on when she sat down at the small table. He removed the domes revealing an absolute feast. There was roast, potatoes, tarts of blueberries, dove, and pheasant. Was she really expected to eat all of that? She really hoped not. She took a bite of roast and it melted into her mouth like butter. She couldn't help, but make a sound of pleasure. Delyn stopped speaking abruptly and stared at her a moment.

" I have never tasted anything quite this good." She explained lamely her blush creeping up her cheeks. " Do you do the cooking?" She asked trying to change the subject.

"I do actually. I am the only living servant in attendance, actually." Delyn smoothed out a pink dress hanging it on the hook. "The others have all died I am afraid." He sounded do sad.

"Did he eat them?" Treasca blurted out. She covered her mouth in suprise at her sudden out burst. For some reason that made Delyn double over laughing hysterically. Treasca wasn't really sure why that was so damned funny.

"No... no... they mainly died of old age, or in the war." Delyn wiped the tears of mirth from his eyes.

"Oh, what war?" Treasca asked confused. She hadn't heard of a war in this part of the world.

"It was about two hundred years or so ago now. Humans actually started the bloodshed. The master use to have a younger brother who loved humans. I think he found them fascinating. He was a child, so he couldn't defend himself it was very tragic." Delyn had sobered a great deal even just giving the vague details seemed to break his heart all over again. Treasca nodded sadly she couldn't imagine losing a sibling like that. She wondered if her own family thought she was dead. The thought made her chest feel tight. She took a deep breath, and sip of wine. Delyn regarded her for a few awkward moments then said.

"I think I understand my master a bit more now. You really are interesting." He leaned his head to the side. Treasca just blinked at him stupidly she didn't remember doing anything of note.
